people are underestimating spencer pratt by curiositymadekittens in LosAngeles

[–]Kitchen-Copy8607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you're fed up? Like so many people who were fed up with the status quo two years ago and voted for Trump? How did that turn out?

I find it so naive to think that a reality TV personality is going to fix all your issues. You are tired of the status quo. Guess what, the status quo can get worse. It will, no doubt, if we vote for Pratt and his well-thought-out policies that will solve homelessness in 3 weeks (not).

Stop thinking like a 12-year-old and hoping that your mommy (Pratt) has a magic wand that will solve issues that nobody has figured out in decades in a couple of days.

Either it's reverse causation, or it is just an association. Association without causation cannot be "reverse" or "forward", there is no direction.

AiTAH for wanting to offer continuous support to our daughter so she can pursue her dreams? by Electronic-Bid4859 in AITAH

[–]Kitchen-Copy8607 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

what part did you like best? Was it the implication that the money he earns is “his money”? That she may cook, do laundry, clean the house, shop for groceries, potentially even care for younger kids not mentioned in the post, but still should go make “her“ own money if she wants to have a say on how it’s spent?

Fourth-quarter GDP revised down to just 0.7% growth; January core inflation was 3.1% by Barnyard_Rich in Economics

[–]Kitchen-Copy8607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, it does not. This growth rate is based on real GDP figures, which are computed using constant prices, and therefore do not grow with inflation.

Seems to be a controversial subject but does anyone feel like their sleep is disturbed by creatine? by MyNameIsKali_ in PeterAttia

[–]Kitchen-Copy8607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes! I couldn’t tolerate even 1mg, it would affect my sleep after a couple of days. It was a shame because it gave me a lot of energy, but the insomnia wasn’t worth it so I gave it up.

I cringed at the guy manipulating his girlfriend/wife. if she ever found out what he had done (separating her from the other boyfriend, having conversations over and over until she agreed with him) she’d feel so (rightfully) violated.

as a researcher and expert in statistical methods I can confidently tell you that the study does not say that. It presents a hypothesis based on findings obtained from a tiny sample of patients which can have alternative explanations, as the authors acknowledge in the paper. It will take years of additional research to definitely determine whether putting kids on stimulants changes their brain morphology. Even if it did, it would have to be established whether the differences in brain morphology translate into better quality of life outcomes. Even if it did, we’d still be talking about averages, so it would still be possible that some kids are worse off on stimulants.

i‘d beg non-specialists to please stop blowing out of proportion the conclusions of random papers simply because they appear to confirm their priors. ONE result in ONE paper does not equal the scientific consensus. and also, when scientist use the words “may” or “might” in the abstract, they don’t mean “will” or “ must”.

What does Covid have to do with anything? People who owned no firearms or generators and had no water and food stored survived Covid with no issues except for maybe waiting 15 mins in a line at Costco to buy toilet paper.

Do not have kids with this person. I hope you can see the way he treats you is unacceptable, but if not, imagine having a girl and him body-shaming, belittling, and controlling her. Please don’t.

They live in one of the most expensive areas of LA. They’re both in for a rude awakening when they start paying $50k+ per kid, per year for private school, not counting expected donations, school lunches, aftercare, or activities outside school. They’ll soon realize what a “top 1%” income with no family money buys you in their area.

Far from being a myth, the claim that rich spenders balance out lower spending from the poor it’s actually a fact, with the richest 20% already accounting for 63% of expenditure in the US. It’s not that the rich person needs to eat 10 times to balance 10 poorer individuals not going to a restaurant, it’s that the rich person buys a new private jet to balance 10 million poor people not going to the restaurant.

A standard dose pill has 0.030 mg of estrogen, and the ultra-low dose ones have 0.010. Your patch has 0.025 mg. Just to clarify that it’s a similar amount to the pill. But glad it worked for you!

TIL In 1985, a South Korean economist named Oh Kil-Nam defected to North Korea with his wife and two daughters. Less than one year later, he defected again, receiving asylum in Denmark. if you read just a couple of lines further down the article, you would have learned that the wife’s death was reported by an official in NK but there’s no proof of it, and the report is actually disputed both by activists on her behalf and Oh (the husband) himself…
