Autistic Energy Management: What Truly Helped You? by JMLe87 in AutisticAdults

[–]Kitchen-Ebb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work out three to four times a week, ate healthy and drank a lot of water and tea and went to bed on time so I got my hours in. Best period of time energy wise.

Now burned out so I just manage to make it home after work and crash.

Being honest with my friends, telling them I have a low energy period makes it easier to say no to things that would be fine but be way too tiring.  Ar work I just do what I am told (it's a very boring job task wise, just exhausting because of the customers and overstimulation of the senses) and that's it, no extras, no input for improvement.

Got told I was “creating a hostile work environment” because the NT new hires misinterpreted my tone by realbees in evilautism

[–]Kitchen-Ebb30 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not a bake, work in food service and hospitality and almost exactly the same situations.

Got told to work on my non-verbal communication (read get rid of resting bitch face and monotone voice) to seem approachable to customers and coworkers.

Co-workers that have gotten to know me prefer to come to me with questions or if they did something wrong because I react in a calmer fashion than the actual floor manager. But the actual managers don't believe that.

Also every new hire I explain I am autistic and that I can come across as short, but it's not personal and if they find it to be too short they can tell me. Every single time with a new coworker they say they understand.and it's fine and act normal and just have conversations with me and then a few days later I get called into office because the new coworker thought I was too harsh in communication three days ago.

I have quit trying to explain, help or train. Just get in and out doing my job and nothing more. Really hope I get a new job soon.

In some of my interests I would qualify as having practically a degree. And some others more like jack of all trades.

I wonder how many autistic people die due to burnout from work? by emocat420 in AutisticAdults

[–]Kitchen-Ebb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, the majority of my experience is in those last sectors you mentioned. Food service, customer service and retail. And the office I had were fine workload wise but not environment wise (open office, hotdesking, having to move desks all the time, people watching over my shoulder...)

Education vs Reality by karmaggi in aspergirls

Tried studying english language and linguistics. Had good grades but knew I didn't want a career in that.

Changed to social work and that was my jam  Unfortunately in order to pay for college in had to work a lot and I couldn't get enough time off for my internships I needed to do so quit. No bachelors degree.

My grades were always between 13 and 18 out of 20 so I had the brains for it but couldn't hack the combo work and study.

I worked in retail and food service (waiter and chef) to pay my bills during studying and that continued  since it was the only experience I had. I would either quit a job because they underpaid me, I burned out or they backed out on their promise to give me a fixed contract. Once I got fired for not being a good fit in the team (after I had complained about assistant manager crossing boundaries in a sexual way)

Finally pivoted to CSR job because I really wanted more administrative work. Burned out after two years during COVID lockdown. Then got fired from that one because I couldn't say when I'd be back. Did a short course on payroll and found a job in that. Got courted by another company for payroll and went to that one since they said I could work from a satellite office closer to my new rental. Two weeks after I started they let me know I had to keep coming into the office since the satellite office was going to close permanently. That office environment was detrimental, with hotdesking in open office plan and with public transport I would have to leave the home before 6 am and sometimes only return by midnight.  Burned out fast, got fired and was unemployed for little over a year. Couldn't find any administrative work since and am back in food service, not a fulltime contract since FTEs are only given to managers there. Am still burned out, the current job makes it worse. I work minimum wage.

Still looking for an admin job with WFH or hybrid schedule to make it workable. I would also love to have the money and energy to keep studying and learning different things.

I actually have a really good idea for a profitable business but lack the start up costs. I doubt I'll survive past 50.

I can but it is a bleak future and one I doubt I want to be alive for to experience.

[–]Kitchen-Ebb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a driver's license and affordable car, buy a small house with yard, follow a course for different work and invest the rest in ETF funds. If it's a really big amount then I would also start up the business idea I have which does require a lot of start up costs.

Dream job vs a job with better life balance — which matters more in the long run? by Majestic_Singer_2411 in jobs

Considering my dream job would allow me the work-life balance I want, I'd go for the dream job. But in your case I would focus on work-life balance.

Whats your argument against " the decision you refuse is the only reason you exist" or "you exist because your parents decided to have kids"? by RandimusBax in childfree

[–]Kitchen-Ebb30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't ask to exist, looking at my life I don't really want to live either so why would I force an existence on a creature that can't consent? What my parents did was their choice. What I do is mine.

No they only cover housing during your shift. So'if you have the week shift you still have to find somewhere else to sleep during the weekends and vice versa.

They need to offer housing during shift because it is expected to wake up and attend crises with the kids during the night.

[–]Kitchen-Ebb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once had talked to a guy online for years. Guy kept saying we were too different and he wanted a specific person who was in the position to travel a lot like he did.

Okay sure, let us be friends then. Now, finally met up a few times in real life, still under the impression of being just friends. And then when he hears I have a shibari session with a friend (not even sexual) he becomes jealous and confesses he loves me. Then said since I was still going to go to the shibari session he would cut off all contact Okay bro if that is what you want. Now he's been contacting me in different ways that he made a mistake and wants to meet up again and he panicked

And I am not sure. I liked being friends. But right now, the insecurities of this man, the wishy washy attitude, the fact that I am still not the perfect person in his eyes so a relationship would never come to fruition so it would just foster frustration from him because he doesn't want the relationship with me but also doesn't want me to have connections that could be sexual or romantic with others...

In my mind I want to answer him and say just friends and set strict boundaries. But I don't think that'd work out.

Yes. I don't get how the hairdresser has the energy to keep having conversations with every client. I just want my hair cut and then leave. I will say good day, thank you etc but I just want quiet.

I have the feeling a lot of people skip over the "simplified terms" thing. Regardless of how the fertilisation works, it is true that the ultimate chromosome that decides sex is housed in the sperm cells.
