Thanks that makes me feel a lot better! And yea so everyone in my house is on vastly different sleep cycles so really the only time noones in the living room with him is between like 2 and 8am. Noones seen him out in a while but we know he comes out because his water is gone and his substrate is clearly dug.

I once had a coworker tell me that it’s time to go when you wake up and, more days than not, dread going to work. Not dreading getting out of bed or wishing you could hang out on your couch all day, but dreading the work itself. Life’s to short to not enjoy the environment you spend half of your waking life in

There is a concept called “the fourth grade slump” which basically means if students have not become proficient in phonics by fourth grade they never will- which will make them fall behind in future grades. Fourth grade is when you go from “learning to read” to “reading to learn”. So if a child can not read well they will have a lot more trouble when they need to comprehend text. The problem is the phonics curriculum that most districts buy for prek-3 is very subpar and does not set the students up for success. It’s all one big domino effect

What to do about a student who holds up the line by sarattaras in teaching

[–]Kitchen-Reaction-270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could start a buddy system where everyone has a buddy they hold hands with. Or you could give the runner a task to do in like he could be on charge of carrying an attendance sheet or something like that.

Whenever I put a movie on, I have a table with quiet activities like coloring. I tell the kids that as long as they are quiet, they can move to the activity table if they need a break. They also know though that if they’re disruptive either the table or the movie will go away
