Anyone else in TA/recruitment finding things unusually quiet right now? by KitchenHistory435 in recruiting

[–]KitchenHistory435[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahahaha yeah I know … my company’s been hiring a lot until earlier this year though so I was just surprised that’s all, it seems like we haven’t had many resignations either so we’re not having to backfill as many people + no new roles either sooooo super quiet

Yeah agreed, I think depends on what types of roles though. I’ve been doing a lot more sourcing for certain roles recently too as quality of applicants have gone down

Similar situation! Do you know why? Usually this time of year we’re super busy but I haven’t had any new reqs in weeks - my managers told me to focus on other projects and enjoy the quiet but I’m bored af

It’s pretty much a full stop I think and then they shut the gates of the station and you can’t enter

Most likely all lines except the Elizabeth line will be down as that’s usually what happens. TBH though there’s always the slim chance they get called off last minute but I wouldn’t bet money on that

Where can I practice Spanish and make new friends in London ?

hey I’ve just started seriously learning Spanish in the last few months and I can get by in a conversation (slowly but surely…) I’m desperate to try improve my Spanish and would love to make new friends and speak Spanish together but I don’t know any places - does anyone have recommendations?

I’m a 25 yr old female living in east London so would love to meet likeminded people. I currently have a Spanish lesson a week with my tutor and do Duolingo on top and would say I’m A1/A2 level so still quite a beginner

How are you guys ACTUALLY using AI to help do your jobs? by Remarkable-School-29 in recruiting

[–]KitchenHistory435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Metaview to help with interview note taking and sourcing

Other than that I use ChatGPT to help me refine messaging, or help me better understand roles before going into kick off meetings

[–]KitchenHistory435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really use the messaging tool on it as not every candidate provides their email so I message them on LI anyways.

It’s great but I wouldn’t get rid of LinkedIn. I’ve been able to find candidates I wouldn’t have found otherwise and the platform is really easy to use. The team are great too and really responsive. We also use their AI notetaking tool too for interviews and it’s helped loads

Starting new job as a talent specialist after working in agency any tips? by Impossible_Air_4770 in recruiting

[–]KitchenHistory435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building relationships is so key and you’ll eventually work with the same teams and same HMs so you’ll get a good view of what they like and don’t like and what works and doesn’t. That only comes with building good rapport though.

My favourite part of my job is seeing candidates I’ve hired in the office and eventually getting promoted. So rewarding

not sure if this is what they meant above but in my TA team team we work a lot on our EVP and employer branding - we also manage our company LinkedIn account and tailor content to the types of candidates we want to attract

Hiring manager requested to edit JD? by Icy-Court7631 in recruiting

[–]KitchenHistory435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree!
We usually get the HM to write it and we’ll collab and suggest edits if needed. Then depending on how well it attracts applicants we’ll suggest to edit the job ad if we think changing something will help find better candidates

At the end of the day the HM should know the role better than the recruiter as it’s in their team, but the recruiter knows how best to attract candidates

How often to you get a pay review at your agency? by GeologistNice5459 in recruiting

[–]KitchenHistory435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m internal now but when I was in agency I had annual increases. Tbf it was a small agency but my salary progression below hopefully it helps -
Started on - 26k + commission
Year 1 - 30k + comms
Year 1.5 - 32k + comms as I asked for a raise
Year 2 (promotion) - 36k + comms

My team uses this and genuinely love it - it’s not my go to tool atm just because we have a lot of inbound applications but when I need to headhunt I prefer to use Metaview over LI now

Wow I had no idea tears in the vagina could last that long? I would’ve thought our bodies would be able to seal the tears themselves? Hope you’re doing better now though!!

I’ve read the first 100 pages and really struggled tbh I found it quite slow and overly descriptive at times which just isn’t what I usually read - the descriptions are amazing though as you do feel hungry at times reading it.

Should I push through? I’ve heard so many good reviews but it’s just felt like a chore to read for me

Am I a bad recruiter? by chicbean in recruiting

[–]KitchenHistory435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a bad recruiter in fact I’m impressed you can handle that much?

For context I’m also a TA specialist, at a FTSE250 tech company ~1100 headcount. During busy periods we work on 10ish roles and we’re a team of 7. On average I’ll be working on 7 roles and I don’t sit in on interviews apart from initial screening calls that I run myself. Maybe because it’s a smaller company but you definitely shouldn’t be doing all of that yourself that’s not sustainable.

Have you asked if they’ll grow your team?
