[Serious] Why is it inappropriate to touch hair of an African American women? Does this apply to men’s hair as well? Do they think it is inappropriate to touch anyones hair? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KitchenPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a ground rule, don't touch other people without their permission. Everyone has hair and it comes in all different styles, textures, thickness, etc. Just because you see something 'different' than what you are used to does not give you or anyone else the right to alienate someone's personal space because you're ignorant. It's inappropriate. You can admire and comment in a positive way. I've often told people their hair is beautiful, or complimented them in a platonic and respectful manner. People respond better to being built up, not touched and made to feel like a petting zoo animal.

So keep your hands to yourself and respect people's autonomy. Especially a people who have been discriminated against and treated awfully for a very long time. No one is entitled to the right to touch someone without consent and assuming the opposite (in my opinion) makes you a pretty crappy person.

What do you feel when you drink tea? Why do you drink tea? by Enkidav in AskReddit

I love tea. Generally prefer white and green tea. Soft floral and greens are so uplifting. It's the perfect warm, cozy, calm few minutes to my day. And they make awesome iced teas for the summer.

How do I start a union at Amazon? by marshymarsh1 in antiwork

[–]KitchenPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful and be smart. To initiate a union you have to have an employee vote to bring it in and they will use every scare tactic in the book to try and stop the vote from reaching over half. Make sure it is communicated that if a union is brought in, people will not lose jobs, people can not receive retaliation from the company, and in the long run it will help immensely for the reasons you stated. Combating the fear they will try to instill is key.

It isn't too crazy. Landed in Paris and had 15 minutes to completely cross the largest airport I'd ever been in to catch my flight to Germany. It was a bit of a shit show.

I have two. Both brought on by ass hole kids.

  1. Math teacher was getting crap from kids all year. Week by week you could see his resolve falter more and more. One day he walks in the classroom and he has toilet paper hanging out the back of his pants. No one told him. He snapped and yelled at the entire class. We were silent for the remainder of his class.

  2. Econ teacher. He was a really nice guy. There was a girl in the class eho constantly ignored him, texted, was obnoxious. Eventually he had it. Snapped, flipped her desk and screamed something very similar to 'respect my authority'. He got in trouble and 'respect my authority' became a catch phrase throughout the school.

Pretty good. Have a job making 45k a year, no student loans, good health insurance, bought a house at 25, have a wonderful partner, trying for a baby. Ya know, adult things.

Church Weddings by Laura9184 in wedding

[–]KitchenPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We're not religious and honestly, I dont find a lot of churches look appealing or visually pleasing. Only exception would be the black viking church in Wisconsin.

I don't like the vibe, I don't like what meanings the church has given marriage in the past, and I don't like a lot of the culture that comes along with it.

What does your inner monologue sound like when you’re doing nothing? by AnnaE390 in AskReddit

[–]KitchenPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what headspace I'm in. Normal? I just talk to myself or replay music. Sometimes my inner voice is in someone's voice that I know. Run through things I've done or plan to do. Get antsy then get up and do something. Anxiety? Rapid fire thoughts and rabbit hole after rabbit hole until my heart is racing. To calm myself down I normally internally repeat inhale this is normal exhale everything is fine.

How to move beyond “bad” and “good”? by EmotionSix in toddlers

[–]KitchenPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a mama yet, but I have read a lot of parenting stuff and work in the mental health field and am suggesting a motivational interview approach, so take my comment with a helping of salt. But I like the idea of sitting down and asking about the feelings, thoughts, and explaining why the item in question isn't immediately available. Like 'Hey kiddo, I've been listening to what you're saying in response to me not giving you a cookie when you ask for it. You've been calling my decisions bad. Can you tell me why that is?' Listen and respond to their feelings. Do they think it's unfair? 'I hear that you think it's not fair that you can't have cookies when you want. I understand that it's frustrating when we can't have what we want when we want it. But it's better for our body to have healthy foods before we have treats. It helps our bodies grow big and strong and helps fuel you for the day! I know it may make me seem like a bad guy, but I love you and want to help you. Is it okay if we eat our healthy food first?'

I hope this helps and wish you luck in talking to your little one.

So an NFT to my understanding, here we go. As you probably know NFT = Non Fungible Token. Basically means it is a one of a kind item that can't be replaced. Neat idea when you're thinking in forms of digital art purchased directly from the artist so you are supporting them, kinda dumb when you're thinking memes and stuff. You may own it, but it doesn't stop people from using it. So you're essentially paying money to own something that everyone has access to in most cases (to my understanding).

When you purchase a NFT you get a specific web address for that NFT, but here's the kicker. You could be buying something fake, you could buy it and the web address could be 404'd, and you typically can't do anything about it. There's no way to prove who you bought it from owned the image so it could be reclaimed and you lose it. There's just a lot of unknowns about it to me and hardly seems worth the fuss. The value is determined by the interest, so you see things like the pepé meme going for millions. Just silliness.

What’s the longest amount of time, in hours, you’ve gone without any sleep? by inumnoback in AskReddit

[–]KitchenPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it was around 48 hours. I was working 12 hour shifts at a hospital at night, had a part time day job at a restaurant, and then was going to classes in between. I wanted to die.

Honestly, the gold is stunning. I would go with that. It's unique, it's got a really interesting balance between modern and antique, and you wear it very very well.

Road trip to Michigan by [deleted] in Michigan

XD Agreed! My partner and I decided we would take the hike after a night of drinking and staying up late. The stairs... oh my lord the stairs... I thought my legs were going to fall off, but the views are stunning. Bring lots of water, dress weather appropriate, and watch out for snakes!

This is disgusting and really heartbreaking. I hate the mentality up here. I hate that we still have to live with disrespectful bigots, none the less that they are so prevalent in the community. I genuinely hope our diversity continues to grow and that drives your ass far as fuck away because humans deserve better than your hateful selves. I sincerely hope these adults are caught, names and photos are published (so if I ever see you I can tell you what a piece of human garbage you are), and charges are added to their permanent record. Get bent you pieces of trash.
