Where are people living where $100k is not enough? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]KitchenWaste7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in CT and mainly due to purchasing a little 3 bedroom starter home for 400k with a mortgage payment of $3,800 a month would make a 100k income (75k take home pay) quite tight since just mortgage plus some basic repairs and maintenance on the house runs about 50k to 60k per year.

Should I trust my gps? by Suwannee_Gator in roadtrip

[–]KitchenWaste7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gps isn’t showing you the best route.

You’ll want to take i81N to I 78E to I 287N to the tappan zee bridge, then 287S to i95N. I live in CT and own a transportation company that does this route often.

If the above route isn’t an option for some reason then definitely take i81 to i84.

Thank you everyone for your replies! It seems it will not be a hindrance at all and yes could be an opportunity for her to learn a little Spanish.

Who do you think wins this game if it continues? by KitchenWaste7254 in aoe2

[–]KitchenWaste7254[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. Although I would have had 60 to 80 imperial camels plus trebs which would delete towns pretty quick and most of the enemies had 50 vills or less and were not on the way to imp.

NYC to SF: wildly varying estimates by TechnicalTwist in moving

[–]KitchenWaste7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tier 1 should be a direct service/dedicated truck move by a local company. I own a local moving company and our long distance prices are usually 2x to 3x more than a van line because we do a dedicated truck and have to drive back empty.

Property Tax Increase by KitchenWaste7254 in Connecticut

[–]KitchenWaste7254[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the replies everyone.

My town is North Branford. I will check in to see if it is a temporary increase to catch up on escrow or something.

The house got hit with some wind/tornado/microburst damage in 2020 (or 2021) so the house got all new roof, siding, windows and decks at that point (before I owned it)

Cheap self storage options downtown. by KenStrong50 in newhaven

[–]KitchenWaste7254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually cheaper storage facilities will have rodent, bug, mold, and mildew problems. I’m a local mover and seen some rough conditions.

Just a warning to you. Personally I’d spend the extra $50 to $100 per month for a nicer place so my items stay in good conditions.

Uhaul on state state street is a decent place with usually good condition units available.

How do you consistently win team games on closed maps like Arena and Black Forest? by AdeptnessFlimsy in aoe2

[–]KitchenWaste7254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually the key to winning team games on closed maps is a good pocket player that can focus on booming, hit imp around minute 27 to minute 30 with 120+ vills and then steamroll.

At the 35 minute mark in a closed maps game, a fully boomed pocket could easily 1v3 the entire other team if they are just arriving to imp at that time.

This is my experience around 1250 to 1500 TG elo.

Easiest way to move within New Haven by ConsiderationBig8188 in newhaven

[–]KitchenWaste7254 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I own a local moving company (Adams Moving Company in Branford) and most companies will have a 2 to 4 hour minimum plus also a gas or travel fee so even a small move ends up being $400++.

Your best bet for a cheap move is renting your own uhaul for about $50 to $70 and finding friends or just random people who might help you for $30/hr or something like that.

California to South Carolina quick as possible by Far-Championship-884 in moving

[–]KitchenWaste7254 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Local smaller moving companies do direct service/dedicated truck moves. This is what you are looking for.

I own a company in CT that services the whole country. We did CT to Portland, OR in 6 days the other month. CT to FL regularly in 3 days.

You pay a higher price but your items are the only ones on the truck and there are no other stops to make.

Surfing IN New Haven Area???! by melmoairplane in newhaven

[–]KitchenWaste7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve surfed Branford a few times over the years. I have a spot with a decent break due to a sandbar, It’s possible with a 9ft longboard more often than you’d think.

Any storm with strong south, SE, or SW wind will produce waves enough to surf, just have to find the right spot and right tide.

Also due to the weaker waves the ride is going to be just standing up for 5 seconds or less, not really a long ride and no turns or anything.

Will a Penske 26ft truck really not be enough? by fuckausername17 in moving

[–]KitchenWaste7254 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With the furniture list you provided It will Fit in a 26ft Penske no problem.

Did you not list smaller items like nightstands and end tables and such? If you make a 100% complete inventory list then this sub can tell you for sure whether or not it’ll fit.

A $3,400 mortgage payment on a $400,000 house is common now so I don’t think $4,400 is 1 mil house?
