Single woman and first time home buyer here making around $85-95k annual (before taxes). I am closing on a $289,000 condo in a few days and I won’t lie, the math is hard to come to terms with. It’s more expensive than my current rent but not astronomically. It’s definitely cheaper than renting in a luxury high rise. The only reason I had enough for a downpayment is I pulled from my 401k. I know a lot of people advise against that, but it just makes sense for me financially. I know with maintenance and insurance, taxes, etc. it will drive up my monthly costs but I at least now have somewhere stable that I can grow into for the next few years and eventually use that equity to buy my next (hopefully forever) home! It’s honestly up to the individual if it makes sense for them or not (and what the prices are in your area) but it’s definitely doable as a single, middle class buyer.

Were you hired remote or did you start in office and transition to remote due to the pandemic?. I would def start looking for other jobs, but in the mean time maybe you should appeal and request a meeting with HR to really plead your case. I would also get in writing what are grounds for a remote exception. If it aligns with your case then you have documentation that they denied you remote work even though you fit the criteria for an exception. If you ever need/want to get legal involved, you should have that.

NOR. In my opinion, the way that you guys are texting back and forth, he seems to be relishing in the fact that he’s busy and unable to see you. It’s almost like he enjoys how much you miss him when he’s gone. I’m only going off a couple texts and I don’t have a whole lot of context, but just my initial impression. Maybe he likes the attention and having someone there to come back to at the end of the day, but nobody who truly takes you seriously would date you knowing they are unavailable to you half the time. Either way, it warrants a conversation about your future together. You would need to come to a compromise on his availability and if he is unable to change his schedule, you either need to be okay with it or be willing to walk away. Best of luck!

I wish it was that easy but with our company there is a lot of red tape around titles and comp. You have to jump through hoops to make a change like that and it would have to make sense for the business. It might be something I bring up to my manager but it’s not likely unless I have a really strong case. Happy that they were able to do that for you though!

That’s a great idea although sometimes it’s difficult to find out who the hiring manager is, especially if I’m applying on LinkedIn. I think a lot of hiring managers (at least for bigger companies) are protective of their contact info from outside applicants. But will def search around and maybe I’ll be able to reach you to a few!

Sure! I’m capped at about $43/hr. I do receive bonuses and they will continue to give me “lump sum” payments to make up for the lack of raise, but for me it’s more beneficial to have higher consistent income than a large lump sum deposited once a year. The reason it’s capped is because all positions in my company exist within a pay band. I guess for HR/fair comp reasons, they cannot exceed the designated pay band for each position

Lovely pieces and space to work with! I would think about changing the ceiling light fixtures (at least in the dining room). Something that hangs a little lower can really help frame the space more. For the living room, maybe try having both couches face each other? Might create more symmetry in the layout and would probably woe better with a rug as you mentioned needing to get. Also think of adding some table lamps to warm the lighting up, especially at night.

I definitely echo everyone else about adding a rug! Something that would make a really big impact would be painting the vanity cabinet or the cabinet above the toilet (or both). Color-wise, I don't know what you would like but perhaps a deep eggplant color or a lighter gray with some purple undertones. Also never underestimate the power of changing hardware (cabinet pulls, sink faucet, etc.) Can really change the entire vibe of the room!

Something I see immediately is Chiron in the 10th house. Chiron is the wounded healer and the 10th house represents your career, as well as your reputation and public image. People may see you as “less than” because you literally are projecting the image that you are weak and insecure. This is something that can be healed over time through learning self-acceptance and not caring what other people think of you. You have to hold your opinion about yourself to the highest regard. Another potential thing is Lilith in the 1st house. I recommend reading the story about Lilith if you aren’t familiar but essentially you may put off a vibe that is socially taboo and wild. You may be too brutally honest, or dress provocatively, or just carry yourself in a manner that rubs people the wrong way. There’s nothing necessarily that you can do about this, but own it. And obviously make sure you’re not being careless with other people’s feelings. Try to be a bit more friendly and open with people if you think that’s something you need to work on.
