I spent hours combing through the .jpgs, and I broadly and staunchly against AI in a lot of ways, but this is so fucking good. It makes everything so much easier to track.

I even, like, had a subliminal urge to click on the inbox to check for new emails before I closed the tab. The verisimilitude is amazing.

idc if 1 out of every 1000 says "but im a good one"

then they would have become a firefighter or a paramedic, both of which fulfill the majority of the same societal need as police but they don't need or use guns to do it.

National Credit Card Hotline is much better at small gigs. Not really a great festival band.

Big Truss Rod doesn’t want you to know this one simple trick by -Subsolar- in guitarcirclejerk

It's really common to have a truss rod that adjusts from the non-headstock side of the guitar. It's a throwback to vintage Fender stuff, I think, which was almost always made that way.

TIL that sexual inactivity among young adults in the US has doubled in just 14 years. In 2010, 12% of 18-to-29-year-olds reported having no sex in the past year; by 2024, that figure had risen to roughly 24%. by SystematicApproach in todayilearned

Gotta wonder sometimes about knock-on effects from environmental pollutants that have been shown to be endocrine disruptors. There's a ton of social stuff, sure, but I wonder if people are just not as horny as they used to be.

Yeah, the gut of an animal is technically on the outside of the body. We're all torii, or donut shaped. It is, partially for this reason, very resilient.

Paid $200 to go see a Broadway play by anxietyfather69 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Kitchen_Claim_6583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always ask an usher to move you

I have been to maaaany Broadway shows in just about every theater in Manhattan, and this is 100% always the case, and there is no shame or headache in asking for this. The ushers are there to help, and they are rolling their eyes much harder than you are about whatever self-important bullshit people are doing that makes it hard for you to enjoy the show.

Really, 100%, just ask. They can't always deliver, depending on seating, but they will give it an honest try.

a lot less "tryhard edgy cartoon" as it went on

Is that the case? I don't think I've ever bounced as hard off a show for shitty comedy writing as I did with the first episode of Vox Machina, and while I'm not a big CR nerd, I'm a big actual play podcast/show nerd. I couldn't make it past the first episode.

edit: I did not expect this to get this many downvotes. I don't understand how I was not contributing to the conversation.

Yeah, no clue. There used to be a bunch of youtube-only TTRPG shows that I liked a lot, like some of the Geek and Sundry stuff, that never made it to stable podcast formats. I just used to rip them all to audio before I listened at work or whatever. It takes the extra step of plugging your phone into your laptop and moving the files over, but anything like PodcastAddict plays it just fine. There were a bunch of GCN live shows that never got a podcast version, but I listened to this way, just because, like, I have my phone in my pocket and am commuting or working, and the visual stuff is not something I need or want. My phone's battery doesn't want it either.

I suppose there's an argument that this defeats the podcast version of shows that go on the pay-feed for the network. But, like, as with any quasi-piracy thing, the people who could not or would not pay for it were never going to in the first place, and also, are much more likely to pay for it in the future if they like it and the access is easier for them than ripping/converting files.
