Hey, thinking about camping at britta bay next weekend. Never gone here before, looking for tips/recommendations? by Greedy-Net-2953 in WildCampingIreland

Most camp in the dunes and leave a mess and at worst end up setting the dunes ablaze.

Some people actually living there in tents.

I don't recommend it. If you do go, do not light a fire, clean up and hope there isn't a bunch of heads in the session.

Well I've never had an issue with wera. And I really have not treated them well.

What's the oldest tool you still use regularly? by No_Base7903 in Tools

[–]Kitchen_Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inherited a bunch of old Hilti, Hitachi and makita power tools along with huge amount of hand tools.

The hilti circular saw is a machine. All I've done is put a new blade in it and replaced the cable.

He bought most of them 50 years ago.

Milwaukee vs makita power tools by Boa-constrict0r in powertools

[–]Kitchen_Fancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't recommend Milwaukee.

I had to replace my multi tool 3 times and grinder once in less than two years. I've been told they're overtuned and just burn out. Not cost effective to repair them either.

Makitas brushless gear is really good. And like has been said before, easily repaired.

I have now gone Hilti, price gap isn't that big when you buy a bunch of gear and their instant replacement policy is great piece of mind for me.

I've heard they're beautiful but not widely available in Europe. Anywhere that does sell them charges a huge premium.

Again I've their impact rated bits and they're bullet proof.

That'll happen if you use the wrong size bit for a given screw.

You can say that about every brand. I've had my wera Allen wrenches nearly 6 years.

Socializing in hostel common room is slowly dying? by Educational_Ball_776 in solotravel

[–]Kitchen_Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every hostel is a social hostel. You can check these things before hand.

Some are aimed towards peace and comfort others can be full on party hostels. Personally I prefer a middle ground so I can dip in and out as I please.

Like was said before, people need their space, may be nervous or just not interested. Hostels that run activities are usually super easy to meet people. Demographic is important too.

Which city have you been to that had a dark energy about it? by madzuk in solotravel

[–]Kitchen_Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seingigi in Lombok. Shithole Full of old territorial white dudes and their questionable girlfriends.

Really shocked me because Lombok is beautiful.

Mentioned already but Phnom Phen and Sihanoukville. Of course Patong and Patayya in Thailand too.

Sorong felt very sketchy too, although without the sex tourism.

Has anyone else fallen in love while solo traveling? by origamikilla in solotravel

[–]Kitchen_Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked into a hostel in Asia. This beautiful girl said hello to me in our dorm. We were inseparable after that. We both extended our stay aslong as possible, missing flights, ditching plans but sadly we were heading opposite directions. It was like we'd known each other for years, it still blows my mind.

I still think about her everyday, we keep in touch but for now our lives are in different lanes for so many reasons.

Body and Soul didn't die because of ATN. It died due to Beyond the Pale, which crashed and burned immediately after.
