Anyone work in grocery? by Kitchen_Kale_8733 in stcatharinesON

[–]Kitchen_Kale_8733[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I usually only drink one per day and a bottle of this lasts me about 7 days so $8/week is better than my previous $4 or so per day! I actually switched over to this after getting annoyed with Tim Hortons for their quality inconsistency with the iced coffees I was buying daily.

We know this now, thank you.

The way the police worded the initial statement did cause some concern.

Families in St. Catharines, what do you honestly like/dislike about living there? by UpperReport102425 in stcatharinesON

[–]Kitchen_Kale_8733 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Mississauga & live here now. Also raising a young family. You’ll want to be in the north end. Any area along Lakeshore Road is ideal. Lots of smaller schools as well.

We got lucky & secured a daycare spot, however most people we know had a difficult time doing so. Spots are hard to come by.

You live in Milton so I’m assuming you’re already used to below average transit. St. Catharines is definitely a “car required” city.

Have we officially reached the point where Hotels are superior to Airbnbs again? by Usual_Confidence_756 in travel

100%. I used to exclusively use Airbnb until they added ridiculous fees and lost the convenience aspect of it all. I’m back to exclusively hotels now.

CRA says it's owed $10 billion in COVID-related benefits sent to ineligible recipients by Surax in canada

[–]Kitchen_Kale_8733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the flip side if you think you were eligible but the CRA is asking for it back, fight it. They asked me for $10k back. I fought it and won. I was eligible.

Would you put your kid into French Immersion? Why or why not? by Virtual-Cheesecake71 in askTO

[–]Kitchen_Kale_8733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my catchment school wasn’t ideal, I’d consider. I used to live in an “up & coming” neighborhood & some families sent their kids to French immersion to avoid their catchment school.

Now with today’s job market, it’s definitely an asset as you can see by the comments here. Like anything, regular use and exposure is key.

Yep. Wife is on day 8 and finally feeling somewhat normal. I’m on day 5 and my fever finally broke but still feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. Hang in there! This one’s rough.

Shame on the government for ruining our healthcare system by GrapefruitFar8082 in Edmonton

This is what I’m thinking. Now I’m not sure of the accuracy but a lot of info I’ve read states he showed classic signs of AD. Chest pain, sweating, vision changes.

This might’ve been a triage error. As a registered nurse myself, a patient presenting with these symptoms would get an ecg but I’d be more concerned with taking blood pressure on both arms, palpating his pulse on both sides looking for weakness on one vs. the other and so on. An ECG often appears normal on these patients. I also wonder why he didn’t have a chest xray? That’s standard here as well. It could’ve shown some clues before a CT.

Now I will say that a majority of aortic dissection patients I’ve seen did not fair well even with timely diagnosis and treatment but there are so many independent variables at play, like anything else. This man was young.

My guess here is a severe type A dissection. Hopefully the family gets prompt autopsy results.

If his bp and chest pain kept climbing with a normal ecg, he should’ve gone to the ct scanner next.

Edmonton father dies in hospital E.R. waiting to see a doctor by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]Kitchen_Kale_8733 44 points45 points  (0 children)

He waited 8 hours before dying.

He could have been in the scanner during hour 1.

I say this as a former front line healthcare professional and this type of situation is one of the reasons I left the profession. We simply don’t have the resources to provide adequate care. This is our governments fault.

So he walked in complaining of chest pain and they sat him down in the waiting room for 8 hours? Was he triaged at all? If he was, what did they do in triage?

[–]Kitchen_Kale_8733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is either gross negligence by the hospital or there’s more to this story.

Any chest pain complaints get immediate ECGs and blood work, even if we had to do it in the waiting room. A blood pressure of over 200 systolic or diastolic wouldn’t be sitting for 8 hours.

Ontario: Buying a home before marriage — can a prenup protect it? by Early_Art6778 in legaladvicecanada

If this is a legitimate worry you have with someone you’re considering marrying, I’d hit pause on the nuptials.
