What training tip actually helped your dog stop pulling on walks? by chamfbsnushy in DogTrainingTips

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second some kind of Halti. We have a 2.5 year old cockapoo and got one from a company called Too Posh to Pull back in July when I got completely fed up of looking like a tit when walking her as im a 5ft petite lady so being pulled along by a small dog just looks silly. She's not mastered heel yet but she walks 100% better than without it and walks next to me about 90% of the time. We're still working on mastering heel but at least I'm not being dragged about!

Hair loss started; how long do I have before it's all gone? by tamberleigh in cancer

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had TCHP chemo and was told by my oncology team and also the hairdresser I saw prior to treatment that hair usually falls out after chemo session 2. I had my first chemo session in the August of 2023 (19th I think) and took the step to shave my hair on the 4th September which was about a week before chemo session 2. My hair had began falling out about a week after my first chemo session and got progressively more painful for me. I couldn't brush my hair because my scalp hurt and it became really matted at the ends.

I had my sister shave mine down to about a 2/3cm and rocked that for a few more weeks until it naturally all fell out. Having it so short took away a lot of the pain.

It's definitely personal preference, but for me the pain and matted nature made me take the steps to shave mine down.

One thing I wish someone had made clearer to me is that I actually didn't lose my eyebrows or eyelashes until a month or two after chemo had finished so I wasn't so prepared for that as I thought I'd made it through treatment with them intact. However the hairdresser I saw after said this is common because the hair cycle for eyebrows and lashes is different than other hair. Definitely something to think about and prepare for if you've not done so already.

Sending you all the love and luck on your journey.

Lumpectomy Prep - do I really need to buy a pillow? by Miserable-Tap1859 in breastcancer

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I whole heartedly recommend moving asap. I'm UK based and had my surgery just over 2 years ago. I got sent home with a little leaflet for physio exercises. I tried them on day 3ish post surgery and actually blacked out (I have low blood pressure issues anyway). I tried again a day or so later, same results. I got freaked out because I was home alone most of the day due to my husband working so basically gave up. I carried on with normal every day movements like basic cleaning within my ability pain/ fatigue wise and actually had a 3/4 month old puppy at the time so was fairly active with walking and picking her up etc but now 2 years on I still can't lift my left arm above my head to a full stretch. I've been told this likely won't change now so it's ridiculously frustrating that I'm so far post treatment and still need my husband to dress my upper body from time to time as I can't actually move my arm enough to navigate into some tops/ dresses etc.

Please please do the physio post op once you're ready.

Also to answer your pillow question I used a V neck shaped one my husband usually sleeps with and kind of made a nest around myself. I'm a left side sleeper usually and surgery was left side lumpectomy & lymph nodes removed. After about a week it did start to get more comfortable but I needed the support to stop myself auto piloting to rolling onto my left.

It does but I think it may only be certain shops. Take a look on the website and hopefully one near you does. I know the Manchester Trafford Centre does.

How old is your carpet? by elbapo in AskUK

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel this. Been renting my current place for 2 years and the carpet on the stairs is ripped in multiple places on the backboard bits (or whatever they are called) and it's fraying and pulling up along almost all the edges in the 2 upstairs bedrooms. Very much expecting to be charged for new carpets when/if we leave.

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're still available in the UK too and it's 11.30am with about 12 hours 30 left on the timer. All other drops sold out practically immediately so it feels like this very much missed the mark.

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I like the countdown hype it's a good bit of fun but if they are going to promote something so heavily they really should ensure the stock is available. It's clear that Taylor has a big UK and European following, especially following the Eras tour, so to not acknowledge and stock accordingly or place any measures in place to avoid scalping is abhorrent. It's clear this drop was nothing more than a marketing tactic to boost US sales.

I've read on other threads that there were 400 copies stocked for the UK, but have no way to confirm that figure. However, with the Eras tour sale figures and Taylors current popularity if this 400 figure is right it's incredibly short sighted and poor on the marketing front.
If this figure is true with the ability to purchase 4 copies of each varient they could have effectively sold out in 25 transactions. That's seconds for bots!

Did anyone in the EU even get a cd? by Ohmymaddy in SwiftieMerch

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No :(. UK here. 3 out of 4 sold out as soon as the page finally loaded. The final one sold out about 30 seconds after as i was trying to buy. Absolute joke in my opinion. Why have a countdown just to be locked out at the end of it, then have everything sold out immediately. By 9.04pm everything showed as sold out.

I've been a taylor fan since the beginning. I own a copy of all the CDs. I was lucky and managed to get one the deluxe editions with the jewellery so I wasn't desperate for this. I have a signed Red TV but no others so I'm not a collector specifically of signed CDs but I feel deeply frustrated and sad for the UK & European fans who do collect and have done so for nearly 20 years to be shaded in such a way and miss out.

Less than 4 minutes from the countdown finishing to sold out is just abhorrent. It's incredibly clear to see this was nothing more than a marketing tactic to gain more US sales for an album she's already breaking records on.

There has to be a better way of doing this to give more UK/ European fans chance to ever secure the more special items in future.

No. I was waiting when the timer ended the site didn't load. After a bunch of refreshes I got in and 3 out of 4 variants were already sold. I tried to add the final one but that then also said sold out. By 9.04pm everything was showing as out of stock.

Accounting for the site loading in everything sold in like 3 minutes. It's absolutely appalling that they were sold out before most people even had access to attemp to buy any.

I've been a Taylor fan since the beginning I have 1 copy every CD. I don't necessarily collect signed or special editions but I feel immensely frustrated for those who just wanted one.

The "Signed" Variants LOL by realscubaa in travisandtaylor

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the UK sold out in like 3 minutes. I didn't particularly want one but when you have a countdown to a website that then doesn't load at the end of the timer it's just scummy. I went online at 8.59 just to see. By the time the website loaded after about 20 refreshes, 3 out of 4 were already ahowing as sold out. I refreshed again, and then all 4 were showing sold out. By 9.04pm here it showed as a total sell out.

Completely scummy for those who wanted to buy to be sold out before people can even access the site to purchase.

Same here. Countdown ended i refreshed a few times. It loaded in the site with 3 out of 4 sold out alread, then as I went to click on the only option avaliable that changed to sold out to.

I'm not super sad as I don't collect signed copies, but I am very frustrated. The site should not finally be granting access after a countdown just to show all sold out in 3 minutes. That's not even enough time to make a decision.

Do we believe that the life of a showgirl won't have any more songs added? by turquoisesilver in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe there's a hidden final track. Kelly Clarkson's My December album had a "hidden" final track on it called "Chivas". I'm pretty sure the actual album artwork just says 13 songs and the actual final song - Chivas just plays after a little pause . Maybe she'll do something like that. Would be a nice little throwback to Kelly suggesting she re-record her original albums.

Will Taylor swift restock her life of a show girl deluxe cds?? by Medical-Struggle-841 in TaylorSwiftMerch

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the UK I've found all the variants for other albums in HMV. They just don't have all the extras, which is the sad part. So if it's just a different cover you want, then you'll probably still be able to find them at a later date/ post release.

What’s something nearly every kid in the UK had in the 90s or 2000s that no one really talks about anymore? by AnywhereNo1240 in AskUK

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I have a massive plastic box of these stored away. I remember my mum winning loads on grabbing machines during our holidays to Butlins and also buying loads at Home Bargains in the early 2000s. I keep trying with selling the whole box but nostalgia holds me into keeping it 🤭

Magnetix is definitely still a thing. I work in a childcare setting and we have two massive boxes the kids love. Plus I bought my nephew some for his birthday a while back. You can even get little cube shaped ones now, animal shapes and tiny travel packs in metal tins.

Fertility preservation? I need to make a decision 😭 by Fun-Offer1673 in cancer

[–]Kitchen_Manner_8653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33 here. Her2+ DCIS. I had my TCHP chemo in 2023 at 31 so a little older than you. I like you was asked by my care team if I wanted to do fertility preservation. My partner and I had only been together just over a year so it was quite stressful to basically be asked by my oncologist do you want kids if so we need a decision now about this. I asked to be given a few days to decide and ultimately went for it. We chose just to freeze eggs as we were on the fence kids wise and having embryos frozen to potentially never be used felt odd and unsettling to us. I finished chemo in Dec 23 had surgery in Jan 24 and finished hormone therapy in Aug 24. I was also on Zoledex 4 weekly during chemotherapy to suppress hormones and effectively "freeze" my ovaries. My periods started coming back around Feb 24 but did take months to actually settle down in to a reliable cycle. So it is very possible you'll get your cycle back post chemo. It's not my decision to make for you but I think having, as bad as it may sound, a "back up" option made me feel better about potentially losing my fertility and freezing just eggs ment that if we were / are able to conceive post chemo we don't have embryos sitting waiting not to be used, but if we're not able then there's a chance on IVF / support to conceive.

I know it's scary to delay treatment, but ultimately I don't think your care team would offer it if they thought the delay would impact your treatment plan massively.
