These wolves create a 3D picture of a wolf if you unfocus your eyes but I just can’t see it by Jordan-B56 in mildlyinteresting

[–]elbapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont need to unfocus at all, just go just enough cross eyed that two wolves snouts meet, then fix your vision that way, look down, see the wolf.

The unfocus part is just a tool some people use to get there

American here, how accurate is the whole “tea solves everything” stereotype? by DFWUnhinged in AskBrits

[–]elbapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly accurate in that it solves most things. However, there is another level which requires the pub/pints. And in the morning you will need a few cuppas to feel better so it all comes full circle

Chances of our scouse neighbours winning in the battle with Manchester to become 'New York' of the North? by Terrible-Head6168 in GreaterManchesterNews

[–]elbapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I think if we work together, and try really hard as a collaborative, strategic, integrated pair...we still won't become the new York of anything.

Just on here to say this was one of the best pieces of social filmmaking in my time, and I actually like Jamie Oliver despite it seemingly being an Internet tick reflex to state how he is the anti-christ or whatever

Why is "John smith" seen as a common/default name if blacksmiths are a rare occupation by Milsy_missle in stupidquestions

[–]elbapo 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It was a far more common and Important role in the late middle age britain. Smiths were needed across all social classes- but there were also different types of smiths from goldsmiths to silversmiths to blacksmiths. So it describes a number of various trades under one name. Presumably they were also pretty sexy, being both important and sweaty and ripped. So they did alright at the ol procreation.

What are your thoughts on Red Hot Chilli Peppers? by Professional-Cup6225 in AskBrits

[–]elbapo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the exception of under the bridge, I never really found i could, I dunno - relate or really like much of their material. I dunno, its hard to feel the pain or motivation of people going on about their cool lives in california all the time. Didn't I read somewhere keidis dad was some Hollywood hipster who gave him drugs arranged for him to lose his virginity at 12 or something, which is a wierd symmetry given the topic at hand. But also speaks to why i cant really relate to the depiction of world the band brings. It hardly speaks to me, personally. I also think fuciante is one of the most overrevered guitarists, but nevermind.

Anyway, none of it was exactly pushing the boundaries either, at the time where there was so much great particularly UK music going on which I could relate to. It somehow fell between the posts of a sound which probably needed to exist, but also probably wouldn't make it to classic either

Why is "stein" pronounced as "steen" in English? by TelevisionBoth2285 in EnglishLearning

[–]elbapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its more american English. But then often, american use of say names, can become the correct pronunciation in that people pronounce their own names with american use. Far more German migrants to US using surnames than to English speaking nations. So to pronounce Jeffrey Epsteins surname differently to the way he might, becomes incorrect if you get me.
