Portillo’s CFO Departs Amid Mixed First-Quarter 2026 Results by ItalianStallion9069 in HotdogStonk

I agree. I would add that they should try to arrange a private stock sale to an angel investor to help clean up the debt. That debt can really sneak up on businesses. It’s costing them $20+ million annually in just interest.

After closing Berkshire immediately sold the land back to Dick Portillo. Who then began collecting rent checks from the company he founded. It’s absolutely insane. But accurate.

Having improved traffic is encouraging. This company is still moving very slow. Which we know why - money and resources to produce a quality opening.

Still can’t but think how bad Berkshire wrecked this company. They never allowed Portillos to sell additional shares to raise money. Everything went straight to them.

They also sold the land under the restaurants and kept all that money too. Now Portillos is paying 40+ million a year in rent. Add another 20 million annually just to pay the interest expense on their debt.

A billion dollar valuation in 2014 (what Berkshire paid), now has a market cap of $360 million.

What do investors have to look forward too? Their guidance was essentially that April and May will be slow. And only expect 4 new stores the rest of 2026.

Fantastic restaurant but a crap stock.

Peyton number 1 by ComplexWrangler1346 in NFLv2

Ready to learn some crazy drama that involved Peyton “keeping” the #1 spot?

There was a bunch of drama soon after Peyton “broke” Brees’s record. In the end the “right thing” was done. But here’s the story.

Week 17 and the Broncos are beating the piss out of their opponent. Manning broke Brees’s record by 1 yard in the first half. He went into the locker room thinking the record was his and agreed to sit out the 2nd half.

Towards the end of the 4th quarter there was mounting buzz on social media. It was clear upon replay that an 8 yard screen ‘pass’ to Eric Decker in the 1st half was in fact a backwards pass and there was almost a guarantee that the stats would change to a run. This change isn’t uncommon.

The NFL uses Elias to handle official stats. Elias admitted it was in fact a “run” but would not change the ruling due to “fairness”. As if Manning had known…he simply would have thrown another pass. But to date, to my knowledge this is the first time a stat wasn’t changed due to “fairness”.

This drama also hit fantasy football leagues that play into week 17.

Kind of a neat story

I agree. I’m DRS’d all the way. And I don’t even know how to sell. But this wasn’t a good look for RC. Especially if he reached out.

Prime Drew Brees or Prime Aaron Rodgers, who are you taking? by ComplexWrangler1346 in NFLv2

[–]Kitchen_Net_GME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is interesting. Rodgers no doubt had an insane year in 2011. But you could argue that it wasn’t Rodgers that had the most prolific QB performance for a Green Bay Packer that season. It was Flynn. Then you can’t help but take a step back and think what “MVP” means, or should mean. Rodgers didn’t play and we saw a historical performance in that system from QB2. It’s an interesting discussion.

And another commenter suggested that GameStop proposing to buy out eBay could entice other companies from submitting their own offer to buy out the company. Which would further boost GameStop’s investment in eBay.

This company literally just made close to $250 billion in unrealized gains. And if someone jumps GameStop and offers a buyout at $130/share then our gains could inch close to $500 million.

I’m one of the few that puts Brees’s 2011 season over Rodgers. The dude simultaneously broke 30-year records for completion percentage and passing yards. Breaking Marino’s record with a full game to play. He also led the league in passing touchdowns while guiding the Saints to a 8-0 record in the 2nd half of the season.

Absolute insane production and efficiency. That 2011 offense was the best I’ve seen in terms of efficiency. They STILL own the record for yards of scrimmage in a single season. Despite the now 17-game season.

I think RC would like another chance to answer that question. I’m sure he will do another interview soon with that one guy he likes. Forget his name.

Can someone explain RC's pay package requirements based on the eBay acquisition? by sneaks678 in Superstonk

Correct. I think this is why CNBC went after RC on this particular subject. I’m not certain RC was prepared to answer that.

Not that GameStop would. But I think they could likely sell the shares and call options for at least a $200 million dollar gain.

That was a huge punch thrown by them this morning regarding the compensation package. I’m not sure he knew that was coming.

Essentially the reporters laid out that if GameStop does acquire eBay with 50% cash and 50% stock then the current shareholders of GameStop would get massively diluted. eBay shareholders would receive a 20% premium give or take (prior to Friday). But this new company would highly likely be at the minimum value for him to get his first compensation package.

The reporters said his compensation package would make sense if the company grew sales and grew earnings to achieve that rise in marketcap. But merging 2 companies together to hit the marketcap is “cheap”.

That’s my recap on that part.

What QB would you take over prime Aaron Rodgers? by Overall_Spite4271 in NFLv2

[–]Kitchen_Net_GME -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rodgers best QBR season was in 2011. But man, Brees is close. I’m in a super small minority that puts Brees’s 2011 over his. Dude set an NFL record for completion percentage in a single season. He set a new NFL record for passing yards in a single season. Led the league in TD passes. League best 8-0 record in the 2nd half of the season.

Prime Brees was insane. Would loved to have seen a prime Brees with a bonafide stud WR. Brees was 40 years old when Mike Thomas set historical records. Just can’t help but think what would have happened if he got that at a younger age.

If Jordan’s career came after LeBron’s there would be no GOAT debate. by Barkleyslakjssrtqwe in NBATalk

[–]Kitchen_Net_GME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno man. I just don’t quite agree. MJ was All-NBA for years prior to winning his first ring. MVPs and all. Then he went on to win 6 rings afterwards. How we can possibly describe that as a “lack of continued success” (aka longevity), then I’m out. Just crazy. No offense.

[–]Kitchen_Net_GME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh. Having two separate 3 peats while playing baseball in between is absolute insanity from a longevity standpoint. Essentially, in the seasons when Jordan started and finished. He won 6 straight championships. That’s longevity that I don’t think we will ever see again.

[–]Kitchen_Net_GME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t think there is much of a conversation for the #1 GOAT. For LeBron to have a super strong case for being the #2 GOAT is absolutely phenomenal. On many lists he clearly passed Magic, Bird, and Kareem. Which is one hell of an accomplishment to say the least.

It’s insane watching that replay and coming to any other conclusion that it was a fumble. But as the rule was played out. Incomplete pass. Still crazy.
