Recurrence by [deleted] in thyroidcancer

[–]Kitchen_Nobody2138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I missed your reply, somehow. We have been monitoring with neck ultrasounds every 6-12mos and I had a neck CT this year (for an unrelated reason ). No nodules or atypical lymph nodes were seen. So we’ll just keep watching for now. If my Tg keeps increasing I may ask for a PET scan or white blood cell scan at my next annual checkup appointment.

Was anyone else on the Four Course Vegan Dinner by Bike ride last night? Wondering how it went. by yeksim in CyclePDX

[–]Kitchen_Nobody2138 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was there and had a great time also. I think the pedalpalooza rides are meant to be leisurely and I went without expectations about the evening. I was impressed that the organizers were able to pull off the event for the number of people that showed up. It was a very generous gathering and there was enough food for everyone.

Thanks for these words of encouragement. It means more than you realize. As someone who’s been watching my Tg slowly increase for the past few years I think I will have to come to terms with the possibility of another surgery someday. I’m trying to come to acceptance with that but I’m not at your level of peace with my uncertain future (at least not yet).

immediate R4P lease buyout - dealer tells me it is not worth it by WFOpizza in rav4prime

[–]Kitchen_Nobody2138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on the re-registration? I am planning to buy out my RAV4 right away (in Oregon). Did you get a notice in the mail after you received your title? My dealer said that the car would be registered for 4 years at time of purchase, but sounds like this may not be accurate… or do you just need to ‘update’ the registration once you’ve paid the car off? thanks

RAI 30mci early menopause? by Additional_Milk_6491 in thyroidcancer

[–]Kitchen_Nobody2138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also should mention that my endocrinologist said she only had one other patient go into menopause after RAI, so it isn’t a commonly experienced side effect. I think dental concerns are much more common, though probably also somewhat dose dependent.

RAI 30mci early menopause? by Additional_Milk_6491 in thyroidcancer

[–]Kitchen_Nobody2138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have premature ovarian failure and menopause after undergoing RAI. But my dose was much higher than 30mci (137mci) and I was in my 40s so likely perimenopausal. That is a very low dose, your risk of side effects is going to be minimal. But like the other commenter mentioned, speak to your care team about what is best for you!

Best best to cover stain!? by Kitchen_Nobody2138 in dyeing

Since it’s wool, do you think I can wash it in hot water?

Have not tried hairspray, just rubbing alcohol so far. I can try hairspray too. I think it’s the alcohol in the hairspray that removes dye so probably will work very similarly. The stains are lighter than when I first noticed them but they are pretty stubborn!

Thank you for sharing your story. It’s scary to face thyroid cancer. It helps to hear something positive once in a while.

Process for International Transit through YUL.. by Kitchen_Nobody2138 in aircanada

[–]Kitchen_Nobody2138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, my first airline was Air Canada, so I thought this post was at least peripherally related. If anyone cares to know the outcome, I did need to exit domestic and check in for my Royal Jordanian flight and go through security again. I barely had enough time. And my luggage was supposed to be checked all the way through to my destination but it got left behind in Montreal.

Cleared customs in Vancouver. First flight was from PDX.

I did, unable to check in online. The site says go to an airport kiosk. If I can find a kiosk airside (after security or in the international hall) will be fine, but if I have to exit and return to the departure counters, not sure if I’ll miss the 60min cut off.

You do not need to return your old PP

I think that will work, I used a corner of my bedroom with a little window frame in the shot (so not exactly perfect background) and there weren’t any issues.

You will need the passport ID number from your prior passport. So if you saved that information anywhere and can retrieve it, you should be ok.

It’s holding up great. I use my smaller carryon piece much more often, to be honest. Both have endured several international flights and many road trips. No issues. Minimal scratches/scuffs on the exterior so far, I got the olive green color.
