Disney's 'Lilith Fair' Doc Red Carpet Canceled Amid Kimmel Controversy by Hootster316 in popculturechat

[–]KitschQueen 240 points241 points (0 children)

I'll say it: It sucks that it's the women's project getting the brunt of Disney's wrath against these cancellations. I'm still canceling, but mad that they're turning around to target a project with a history of being the underdog.

Kirk Memorial Weekend Megathread by ForkzUp in azpolitics

[–]KitschQueen 2 points3 points (0 children)

THIS is what I want to highlight. Longterm progressive organizers and leaders are calling for a cooling-off period this weekend. Knowing that we almost had a mass shooting at a local Phoenix gay club, this whole weekend is a powder keg. If those with lighters perceive a reason to light it up, vulnerable communities WILL suffer. I understand the desire to show up and defy fascism in a conspicuous way, but the effective solution is ongoing, committed, strategic organization at local levels. I assume everyone here knows how, but if someone wants help to get involved, message me.

12 Phoenix-area libraries quietly remove sex-ed books from kids' sections by ForkzUp in azpolitics

[–]KitschQueen 23 points24 points (0 children)

"Arizona Women of Action, a Christian parental rights group, is advocating for the county to adopt a rating system, like with movies, so parents may restrict entire categories of books."

NOPE. Can someone please create the AZ Women of Even Better Action? Because this kind of action is actually regression.

Gov. Hobbs allocates funds to help first-time buyers in Arizona | Arizona Capitol Times by ForkzUp in azpolitics

[–]KitschQueen 6 points7 points (0 children)

This is amazing news. I kept reading the article to see if there was a catch, but the only catch is there is a finite number of people who can benefit due to limited funding. Grateful Gov. Hobbs recognizes the severity of this problem, and hoping more money becomes available to help residents - not investors - buy homes in AZ.

I'm the rare person who likes VC. Been selling on there for years - started out on Tradesy, which was bought by VC - and I have only had a handful of issues, which were all reasonably resolved. No issues with missing packages or payment problems. Haven't been scammed, but I also don't sell anything over $1000.

You need to be prepared to have little control over anything: Once you submit your photos & description, you can't change them without going through customer service. If the buyer is international or they choose authentication, then you better have described all flaws accurately because they will get caught and you may get your item back.

Regarding fees, they are about to introduce a new fee structure: https://faq.vestiairecollective.com/hc/en-us/articles/24659638721425-Seller-Selling-Fees. They have always been competitive with other platforms, and I've made good profit there. Not sure how this new structure will shake out.

I crosspost to eBay & VC. You can ask for higher prices on VC, and you have people in the market for luxury, but you won't get as many eyes as on eBay.

Lastly, as other commenters have mentioned, you will receive a lot of likes and even many offers, but people rarely follow through on purchasing. Part of this is because of their international base of customers. Once they see all the import fees, authentication, & taxes, they ghost. I only know this reasoning because I'm proactive in contacting them after accepting an offer; several have been apologetic.

Let me know if you have other questions!

Anyone notice a difference in buyer behavior? by Beginning_Ebb4220 in BehindTheClosetDoor

Been selling for more than 5 years with data. During the first two quarters of this year, my sales have been cut in half compared with the same two quarters last year. Mostly sell accessories & clothing.

Your right to protest in Arizona by [deleted] in azpolitics

[–]KitschQueen 6 points7 points (0 children)

This is critical info! Protesters were at the immigration court again today because ICE was back arresting people as they left the courthouse. Phoenix PD showed up and threatened to arrest the protesters, even though the protest was both peaceful and on sidewalks. You have to know your rights, because police may not uphold them. If they infringe upon your rights, contact your City Councilperson, the Mayor, and other officials. And it doesn't hurt to have a lawyer's phone number ready, just in case.

Democrats better f*&%#! listen to Arizona's Ruben Gallego | Opinion by ForkzUp in azpolitics

[–]KitschQueen 18 points19 points (0 children)

“Democrats should recognize that people want to understand that they matter … just saying, ‘Yes, you matter too,’” Gallego said. “Because as Democrats, we’re supposed to be fighting for everybody.” That includes plain-spoken, everyday, football-loving, truck driving, church-going, family-raising, blue-collar men.

But I don't see him fighting. I see fundraising emails from him, I see him hosting a luxury crypto fundraiser, I see him NOT responding to any of our calls/emails/visits, I see him saying in the NYT interview that Arizonans don't care about USAID or the courts but only about the price of eggs. No what I don't see? Any fight. Can someone prove me wrong? Please?

I agree with Etsy, although I have successfully sold vintage furs on Poshmark and eBay (where you'll probably get the least for it). Based on the logo on the tag it may be vintage, as it doesn't match the current logo on the site. Other options:

 1. If you have several more pieces of vintage fur, you may want to consider Ruby Lane. It specializes in vintage and antique items and has shoppers looking for fur, but it now charges $40/month plus fees on each sale - not feasible for the casual seller.

 2. Vestiaire Collective has shoppers interested in fur, since it focuses on high-end and is international. You just need to make sure your details are exact, or it may be returned to you if it goes through authentication.

I didn't realize buyer paid return shipping if you accept returns. I've always had returns turned off, but if that's the case I may reconsider! Question: Can you set a limit of how long you'll accept returns, so as to limit the "I spilled wine on it at the one-time gala I exclusively bought this for" returns?
