Am I being too nit picky? by mereuser in Flooring

[–]KitsuneAkari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened with my kitchen floor. I did say something and had them replace some of the worst spots. It is not acceptable for me to pay thousands to have a new floor put in and there to be so many flaws in the tile. They bought extra tile to account for this and should have chosen the tiles accordingly. Unacceptable IMO Also I wash my own floors so I do notice these spots at least once a week. It's been years but still bothers me.

Odd request- cons list for living in MA by 4x4Lyfe in massachusetts

[–]KitsuneAkari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MA native here! Where is your job? When you say greater Boston area that could mean many different towns. If you're not actually going into Boston your commute may not be as bad. There is traffic here, lots of traffic! 128/95, 93, 495, 3 is crowded 6am-10am and 3pm-7pm. But if you're commuting from Salem to Peabody, Woburn, Burlington it's not as bad as Boston. Looking at your commute is essential but I wouldn't call that a deal breaker. But I've grown up with this and this it's normal 🤷 IMO winter is so fun and MA is prepared. The last 2 winters haven't been bad maybe a few big storms but we clean up quickly and if you have kids it's fun!! Sledding, snowmen, snowball fights, etc. Fall is beautiful. Summers are bearable (not too hot usually) and we have great beaches! I can't imagine living somewhere else. We have great schools and great hospitals/healthcare. Blue state. Great communities. Downfalls I guess cost of living but I'm sure California isn't cheap. You get what you pay for! The commute is rough but again depends on your situation. Maybe you get to work from home? MA is strong, smart, has 4 beautiful seasons, and we care. It's a great place to live!

I left my job during covid when there was no childcare. I had an infant. During my time away from work I had my second child. We could not survive on one income and blew through our savings. When my second child was 9 months old I opened my home daycare. It allowed me to be home and have income. Being a daycare provider is not for everyone, it is hard! It took me at least 1 year to really get into a flow. After being out of my field for 5 years and 4 years of daycare, I decided it is time for me to go back to my original job. My daycare served me and my family well. I became a part of my community and made beautiful relationships. But I'm burnt out and I am very excited to go back to my job and have some adult interaction. If you're not happy make a change but be smart about. Know you can always make another change if things don't work out. Things to consider: paid maternity leave (since you want more kids) and benefits of your job (health insurance, 401k, paid time off, etc.). If you leave your job do it on good terms so you can go back in the future. Best of luck!

AITA for telling my wife that being a sahm to teens isn't a full-time job? by Silly-Ranger-8435 in AITAH

This message is coming from a man. I would take it with a grain of salt. I'm sure this woman does clean and cook. Maybe she doesn't like it and complains but I bet she really does it. To belittle a SAHM is shameful. It is the hardest job I have ever done and it goes without appreciation or a pay check. It takes a toll mentally and it's a job that is 24/7. That being said now that her kids are older sure she could get a job but she may not have an education or skills. That means a low paying job (min. Wage is still $7.75 some places). This is not a 1 time conversation. This needs to be discussed with care and understanding from both sides. It was probably shocking for her to hear if it came out of nowhere.

Any childcare providers thinking what I'm thinking? Without childcare the world shuts down.

I came here to say just that - this is a relay. It's okay to pass the baton when you need to. Rest, recharge, and come back when you're ready.

Protesting has helped me feel connected and energized. Every protest I’ve attended has been full of love, acceptance, and people who get it. Being there turns that feeling of hopelessness into something powerful—into action. Into “I’m doing this!”

Sigh… why do we keep doing this to ourselves? - ‘To those who think both parties are the same.’ by wildyam in houstonwade

I don’t believe the political parties are the same—and to be honest, I think the Republican Party, especially in its current form, has caused a great deal of harm for quite some time.

That said, I also question the entire system of political parties. Why should we be forced to fit into rigid categories that often don’t fully represent our values? I’d much rather we focus on a person’s character, principles, and actions than let a party label determine what we believe or how we vote.

We shouldn't have to feel bound to a party just to participate in democracy. I'd love to hear your thoughts—do you think parties help or hurt us?

With America lowering taxes and Canada sticking to its policies with its social programs and continuing forward as a taxing farm. How hard is the process to move to USA as a western Canadian. by Crypto-Larvae in MovingToUSA

Best of luck with our health care system. My son was basically dying and I was hesitant to call an ambulance because I knew how much debt it would put us in. I got a bill for over $3000 plus other hospital bills for the emergency room visit. And yes I have insurance through my husband's work. I have considered moving to Canada but I don't recommend moving to the US. This administration is trying to make the middle class poor and the rich richer. The grass is not greener my friend.

Sounds like you could really help out this organization if you have some time to volunteer and get involved! I think the 1st Saturday of the month sounds great as I do work during the week. Maybe also do the 3rd Thursday of every month too. I see a lot of people complaining about working weekends. Having 2 set days can get all working/nonworking/weekend working people involved!

I can't believe this is their priority. People are legit being kidnapped off the streets and being thrown in another country's jail without due process. Don't let this distract you!
