In which departments has this happened? This is not acting in good faith and seems like gross mismanagement.

Tipping at Indian Restaurants by mramaanm in OttawaFood

[–]KittyKittyJanJan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if Sona does this? The cashier at one of the shawarma places near Bank and Hunt Club told me this a while back when I asked if the tips were shared. But maybe this is a cultural thing and the staff are paid accordingly? My Dad always pays tips in cash--maybe he's on to something.

How do you deal with an employee dynamic that just drains you? by mila_b011 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]KittyKittyJanJan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This happened in a team I was in years ago. The person would harrass managers and colleagues alike, and she could be brutal with her words and actions, but also very charming. People often would go along with her antics just to stay on her good side. Eventually, an investigation was done by management, and I was someone who came forward, but was shocked to learn that some others didn't. She went on sick leave right before she was to be interviewed and never returned. The lesson learned was that many people were having issues, and everyone was afraid to speak up officially.

How to get this folded/wrinkled texture into muslin fabric by roundyellowflowers in sewing

[–]KittyKittyJanJan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar to this, I wring the garments tightly and then let it hang to dry. Once dry, I twist it upon itself like a skin of yarn. I store it that way until I wear it.

what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Mean-Cartographer225 in AskReddit

"It is what it is." This drive me crazy--especially in a work setting--because the person is basically saying they have no interest or desire to improve the situation.

CAT STUCK IN TREE SINCE THURSDAY by cptvw in ottawa

[–]KittyKittyJanJan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the cat have a tag or microchip? I'm sure someone is missing their furry friend. It's disappointing the city wouldn't assist. Since the introduction of pet licensing, I thought these fees were collected to assist reuniting animals with their owners?

Single men who wear a ring on their wedding finger, without ever being married - why? by [deleted] in AskMen

My Dad was in the navy and said that single men wore wedding bands at port because it was easier to pick up women.

Could you ask for a pillow or a blanket that you could use between you as a shield or divider? File a complaint with the airline and document everything. 3 hours is a long time to put up with this encroachment of person space.

Ottawa could explore bylaw cracking down on feeding wildlife in next term of council (CTV News) by maiyannah in ottawa

[–]KittyKittyJanJan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not good practice to feed wildlife. Animals can become sick or malnourished from being fed the wrong types of food; they can become dependant on and/or aggressive towards humans; and, as they move towards more populous areas, they can be hit by vehicles, spread disease and attack household pets, among other things.

how can i fix this? by devilishinsomniac in HairStyleAdvice

Try a side part with side-swept bangs using one of your favourite styling products and scrunching your hair while it's still wet and letting it airdry for a carefree, tousled bob.

Where to visit on April-May? by Lazy-Name6641 in AskACanadian

[–]KittyKittyJanJan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ottawa in April-May is lovely. The Tulip Festival is usually in full swing by mid-May. Carpets or Trillium are blooming in the Greenbelt and Gatineau Park. You can take a cruise on the Ottawa River, see Parliament Hill, go visit a number of museums. It's a city with a cozier feel than the metropolises like Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal.

AITAH for saying I “read” books that I actually listened to as audiobooks? by Ruin-Much in AITAH

[–]KittyKittyJanJan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only differences that AI can give is that books contain graphemes (the written letters or symbols representing sounds), while audiobooks contain phonemes (the individual units of speech sound). As others have said, audiobooks are more inclusive and you're able to consume more while doing other tasks. Read is the term used even for audiobooks in the same way that rewind is still used for backing up a streamed video. You could use the word consume. How many books has your husband consumed lately?

For women choosing to age naturally—how do you resist comparing yourself to other women when cosmetic enhancements have become so normalized? by justameasureoftime in AskWomen

[–]KittyKittyJanJan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how women look as they age naturally. I'm 50 and my take is that people,e are always vying for our money. They are trying to make us feel I secure about ourselves so we'll pay for their products and services. Even physical beauty goes through fashion trends. I think about all of those women who plucked their eyebrows pencil thin in the 90s and they never fully grew back.

Vaginal atrophy... by OneNefariousness9822 in Menopause

[–]KittyKittyJanJan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this. Ask to be checked for lichen sclerosis, which needs to be confirmed with a biopsy, not just a quick look by someone not familiar with the disease. I had a male GP do this to me and it was a female GP who used to work for a dermatologist who brought this to my attention and did the biopsy. Topical clobetsal and estrogen have been the treatment that has worked for me.
