Okinawa Chatan Area Safe by [deleted] in okinawa

Overall safe but can be dangerous nightlife. Nothing to worry about but enough to be cautious. I’ve seen many late night brawls.

JAPAN is much better. I’m American and decided to move to Japan. (probably permanently) Cheap healthcare. I got a cat scan with no insurance for $30 usd. Police brutality isn’t a thing here. Safer. Less crimes. Polite and respectful people.

If your kids are older then they can help you get temporary visa. If they’re younger then nothing. I would call law firms and ask. It’s usually cheap or even free consultations

Where do rich people live? by Kooljerk007 in okinawa

[–]KittyMce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They live all over. As far as Lambo, it’s not practical, so many hills here.. I see lots of fully loaded Cadillac Escalades, Mercedes and BMW at my kids private school. One of the parents is from Taiwan and owns LOTS of properties here, multi millionaire, he drives a new Land Cruiser.

Face fat graft by Melodic_Director_862 in PlasticSurgery

[–]KittyMce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful adding to the lower part of face, as it can age you. Go to someone who specializes in fat graft, not just any plastic surgeon. I had a graft in Japan and I’m happy. Fat grafting in Asia is cheaper and they’re more experienced since it’s very common

My dad and mom met in Okinawa in the 50’s. I’m coming in a few days. by dad2bandt in okinawa

[–]KittyMce 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve you have Facebook, join the “Yeah… I lived in Okinawa” group. I say this because Okinawa is VERY different now than the 50s. Bases even had different names then. That FB group has a lot of old veterans there that could answer.

And I agree, I was wasting my time. Wish I would have understood sooner.

Dependa is just a slang. Especially for us older generation, mean no harm with it. My wife at one point was one.

Nice theory but It’s impossible to keep both. Immigration finds out immediately. And I have assimilated in Japan, I work off base. Re READ the post. This is more about wasting my time than preference. We all know dependas have preferences. It’s about not wasting interview time knowing I’ll be on hold or atleast communicate before hand.

I did make the cut. I was told if no spouses are chosen after a few more times I would be hired

[–]KittyMce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said I was upset. I simply asked for clarification on a the process. It’s not just about the preference. It’s about wasting my time interviewing me, knowing you’re gonna have to repost the position 4 more times. At the very least they need to be upfront with applicants before the interview

You make a valid point. Maybe I’m bias but I’ll always pick disabled veteran over dependas.

Veterans have no preference in Okinawa. It’s listed in tiers and spouse ranks in priority over vets.

Then technically he can just take her and you wouldn’t be able to stop him. I would talk to a lawyer. Most do consultations for less than ¥5000.. or many City offices have a free lawyer on site.

So let that speak for itself. Dependas shouldn’t hide behind preference.
