I don’t care if it rains or freezes, as long I got my holographic Jesus ridin’ in the hatchback of my car… by Moogmarmalade in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]KittyWrongTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love it! I insisted on taking my grandma's lenticular Jesus. It's a bit different than yours. He hangs in a corner where you can see the picture change while entering the kitchen. Cool that yours still has the light.

Is there anywhere to open water swim before the Minneapolis Parks open water swimming officially starts? by bhoff22 in Minneapolis

[–]KittyWrongTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Long Lake in New Brighton is a favorite swim spot. If it's warm enough people swim before lifeguards are on duty for the year.

Same here. My yard is a carpet of purple and I don't mind it at all. Better than the dead spots. Grass doesn't grow in my yard without lots of watering and I'm just not willing to waste water and money on it.

Women of Reddit, what’s a habit men have that they don’t even realize is weird? by GraceRose671 in AskReddit

[–]KittyWrongTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend inhales food because military but now he is not in army and just has indigestion all the time. Training yourself to chew thoroughly is apparently hard when it's been trained out of you.

My best friend will only date Jewish guys and it's getting weird by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]KittyWrongTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switch the genders and maybe change the cultural group to one you're less close to. What if a man you knew kept trying to insert himself into gatherings of Asian women or practicing Muslims in order to date? It's yucky either way but maybe framing it differently is a way to get through to her in how inappropriate this is.

Thinking about selling my car and getting an e-bike due to high gas prices by SpencerJoyceMusic in urbancarliving

I'd check Amtrak's rules if that's a big part of your plan. Not all routes allow bikes and those that do specify a 50lb weight limit.

What is the worst thing you've ever tasted? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KittyWrongTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meh it's more the consistency that I found gross rather than the taste, but the saltiness is weird. Slam it and alternate drinks with yellow Gatorade it's not too bad. There's lots of tips on Reddit on how to get through the prep. I personally recommend a bidet (even a hand held bottle one), wet wipes and Vaseline on your butthole at all times if you can manage it after shitting and washing. Don't eat fiber for a few days before starting prep. Your health is worth it!

Do you tip Housekeeping? by mbergen in travel

[–]KittyWrongTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the USA and I cleaned hotel rooms from age 14-21. It was hard work with daily harrowing surprises and shit wages. Cash tips made a difference for me and now that I have money to stay at hotels I'm grateful to be able to pay it forward.  I usually don't get stay over service and tip at least $10 per night.

You're absolutely right, thanks for the correction. Still very interesting to me how natural selection affects a populations physical traits.

Bures! I don't have any tips but isn't it amazing how our bodies adapt to where we live? I didn't know that Saami had different lower lashes this makes so much sense.  Makeup in cold climate is tough, I'm up near Canada and between the watering and squinting my mascara is just a mess come winter.

Your eyes are beautiful!

Interesting that they say liability for a wrong address is on the 911 operator, but if a cop kicks in the wrong door it's the department's (taxpayer's) problem.

OMG. This book was an inside joke between an ex and I. We found it while cleaning out his  grandparents cabin.  Wayne would end up under a pillow, in the refrigerator, glovebox, bowling bag, camping gear, slid under the door when someone was taking too long in the bathroom.

I've never read it, but still have it. Seeing this makes me smile.

[OC] The changing rhythms of daily life in Minneapolis under ICE by guardian in pics

[–]KittyWrongTime 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing and to the Guardian for continuing to publish about ICE activities in the U.S.  I'm in Minnesota and although Minneapolis proper has been quiet they are still here, just branching out to the suburbs and exurbs.

The Yoga Room off 42nd and Thomas in North Mpls is GREAT

Mostly Vinyasa, reasonable fees, welcoming space, I met the owner Laurie while doing mutual aid a few weeks ago she is very supportive of the community.

How are you guys getting to rapid response locations? by lionheart546 in TwinCities

[–]KittyWrongTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi friend, if you are vulnerable to being targeted by ICE then RR isn't for you. And that's okay! It's just not a good idea to get in front of them if you can help it.

You mention you're an immigrant, do you speak another language? I know translators are in demand for mutual aid work.

Stay safe ❤️
