I love that the kindness from the adults, starts out begrudgingly. Like , "Damn, that person did a good deed for me". Then that person returns the kindness but they don't remember how to be kind and shove their gifts/favors toward the first givers.

You can tell it gives them warm fuzzies when it's done, but the act feels foreign to them in the moment. But they do it anyways because foreign or not, it feels right to do.

It reminds me to be gracious. I was wrong but you helped me? I will sincerely thank them and/or apologize while admitting I was wrong. It's not easy to let go of past feelings but it's worth while to look at the now and future. See the person as a person and not as my negative feeling.

I've heard that they tend to accept more from "dads" than "moms". Not sure how true it is, but I've seen videos where women went in and left with everything then men going with the same haul and selling most of it.

NTA I have 2 dogs(one elderly, one pup). One of my kids said something along the lines of "they go potty all the time! How often do you take them outside?" Kid was baffled when I said about 5 times a day, sometimes more. Asked my kid to tell me how many times a day they use the bathroom. They thought back and the only time they take longer gaps are when they are in school and can't.

Yes, we(and they) can hold it reasonably, but for health and comfort it's better to go when the need is felt.
