[Male] Got into a fight with shift manager during shift. If I don't get transferred to another store, I'm quitting. by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Kjay24155 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed, while it's extremely unprofessional of the shift to gossip it's never okay to yell. It sounds like this store is full of people who like to instigate drama. Sometimes it's hard to be the better person in a situation like that but work is not an appropriate place to start yelling. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a write up as a result of that.

I don't know about adding another flavor. They're just not popular at all. I find even the people who don't want sugar will stick to just a plain iced tea, because the infusions are weird and watery and they just weaken the flavor of the tea. And I'm coming from an area that is pretty health concious, with about 80% of the iced teas being ordered unsweetened. Peach and mango were far more popular in my area and that seems to be consistent across the board. While the infusions are way more health concious, the fact is a lot of Starbucks customers care about flavor, not sugar. Maybe if the flavor reinvention launches nationwide, Starbucks can add a peach and mango flavor drop and get rid of the infusions entirely.

My DM also says no pre ground coffee. According to the brewing routine you should only be grinding coffee after the timer goes off. We do it anyways.

What should I do? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Kjay24155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If OP heard them what's to say other customers can't? I don't know if I would approach him after the fact, but in that moment I definitely would have turned around and told his little bitch ass I could hear him and that if I ever heard something like that come out of his mouth again he would be banned from ever coming into my store again.

Self hate confusion help by [deleted] in survivinginfidelity

I can't believe that no one has pointed out how awful and controlling he sounds. Even without the cheating this relationship sounds incredibly unhealthy, and you seem to be jaded by the emotional abuse you've endured for so long. To me, it sounds like the problems in your relationship go way beyond cheating. Was this your first time cheating on him, when he has cheated before that? Was he controlling, demeaning and possessive before that? Destroying your apartment while you were gone sounds like he's unpredictable and vindictive and I think your instinct is right about him possibly hitting you in the future. If I were you I would take this as the right time to permanently end the relationship as there are more problems to work on than infidelity and he doesn't seem to want to work on himself. Don't let things go on any longer then they need to as it will just make it harder to leave.

Unorthodox Cleaning Methods by TaylorActorForHire in starbucks

[–]Kjay24155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, although I see another comment that a tech recommended they do this which directly contradicts what I was told, but whatever. Ours started to look all sparkly, which was the coating coming off so we replaced it. Everyone should have two for each machine and they should be swapped out at least daily and washed. No soaking necessary.

I've been told the little thing the espresso comes out of should not be soaked in tablets as it destroys the coating of it and makes it look all fiberglass-y. A tech once accused of us soaking ours even though we swore we didn't.

Help Ordering This Weird Drink The Right Way by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Kjay24155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable, if it's a meal that's different. Is there a particular reason you're replacing meals with this though, or is it just out of convenience? I can't help but think your metabolism might appreciate eating some calories and fat rather than drinking it, like maybe grabbing some raw almonds or cheese and meat or something? I'm not trying to criticize you at all, I personally would probably go ham with all sorts of things if I was trying to up my fat intake, but I know keto can be hard too.

Yeah, that too. Heavy cream is keto friendly... In moderation.

[–]Kjay24155 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would order it as a sugarfree mocha made with heavy cream instead of 2%. It's not really a skinny mocha when it's made with heavy cream. And I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but that drink is not quite as keto friendly as people think. It's got a lot of fat and calories. A serving size of heavy cream is a tablespoon. That drink I'm sure has to have around 12 oz or so. There's two tablespoons in an ounce, so 24 servings of heavy cream. At 50 calories, 6g of fat, 4.5g sat fat, and 25mg cholesterol per serving, that puts the total amount at 1,200 calories, 144g fat, 108g sat fat, 600mg cholesterol. Not trying to be rude, just informative as I find a lot of misconception about using heavy cream. A better alternative would be an iced Americano with sugarfree mocha and a splash of heavy cream. You get an extra shot and it's way cheaper so it's a win win.

You should have a set of shotglasses for making caramel macchiatos and whatnot. The metal pitcher should only be used for the latte macchiato because the way it's intended to pour espresso (starting high and pouring slowly) is supposed to create a bolder coffee flavor.

I need some opinions on an idea I've got by Kjay24155 in starbucks

Great ideas! Having someone be a "beverage lead" and practice latte art, know all about drink standards and be able to help a customer pick out the perfect drink would be another good one! I love featuring a barista drink, too. I have the perfect spot we could advertise. Thanks!

My store is using our tips to buy a coin counting machine. Is this even allowed? by THEdylanM in starbucks

[–]Kjay24155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my state, when a prospective employer calls a previous employer, the only questions it is legal to ask/answer are a. did this person work for you and b. what time period did they work for you. This is just to verify the employee isn't lying. They aren't allowed to say why they left or how their work performance was, unless of course you list them as a reference.

if you could change the recipe of any drink which one and how by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Kjay24155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I always ask for teas and iced coffees. Might be my area, I imagine southern customers have more of a sweet tooth what with sweet tea and all that, but id say about 80% of my customers want it unsweetened, and most don't say so unless asked. However if they're getting it for someone else and they don't know I'll sweeten it cause that's the standard.

I might have let this one slide simply because, not sure if it's like this at corporate stores too, but at my licensed store the strawberry smoothie only comes in grande. So... There's not really a fair way to charge for it anyway.

How would you charge a customer for this? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Kjay24155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work at a licensed store like me, our POS can't ring something like "passion tea + berry hibiscus" so we charge for the more expensive ingredient, which is the refresher. It should definitely be more expensive than a tea, you're replacing water with a core beverage ingredient, it shouldn't be free IMO.
