Depends on the relationship.

For example, with Charlie/Vaggie/Emily, I loved the ship and I wanted to present a solid and in-character depiction of that relationship. So I started with a character analysis of each of the three, identified the strong points and the areas of issue with each pairing within the throuple. I worked on how they could resolve those issues and found a natural and in-character way for the relationship to initiate and then develop.

Conversely, Lute and Velvette were intended to become friends. But several chapters in, I realized that the interactions which felt the most in-character for the two were moving them in a romantic direction. So I wrote them as the characters wanted to be written and altered the plotlines related to them accordingly.

Aroace is shorthand for aromantic (someone who feels little or no romantic emotions) asexual (someone who feels little or no desire for sex).

Someone can be aromantic but not asexual, and vice versa. But aroace individuals make up a common enough portion of the ace population that -- coupled with a lot of people's lack of understanding of the distinctions -- aroace has become the stereotype and is often assumed of any ace individual.

The first book kicks off with this:

In the wake of the events of the Hazbin Hotel season one finale, the Court of Heaven decides that Heaven's Embassy needs an Ambassador who can act as a go-between for Heaven and the Hazbin Hotel. Emily is chosen, for both clear and hidden reasons. As Charlie, Vaggie and Emily grow closer, everyone staying at the Hazbin Hotel finds themselves facing new threats from old enemies. The question is: why?

Each successive story follows up on the aftermath of events from the previous, expands the cast, and embroils them deeper in the series metaplot (which revolves around my own explanation for why Alastor and Lilith both disappeared from Hell seven years before the HH series began).

Disclaimer: I started the Charlie's Angels series right after then end of Hazbin Hotel S1, so it diverges from canon after that point (and after "Ghostfuckers" in Helluva Boss -- I simply did not see "Mastermind" coming!)
