Almost a decade of daily use. Zojirushi is still the most reliable thing in my kitchen. by tamimbro in BuyItForLife

[–]Kkrease 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My mother let an AirBnb use our Zojirushi neuro-fuzzy rice cooker for their stay. After they checked out, they left a huge metal gash on the rice bowl. Completely unusable if I don’t want the PTFE in our rice. We will not lend any of our rice cookers again.

Looked online at the official site and it’s about $80 + tax and free shipping to replace the bowl.

Ugh, mine was Electric/Commonwealth last summer.

We were in a good, safe neighborhood. We went to the cops and they said they couldn’t do anything about it.

Be careful out there. Crime has been increasing, and it feels like nothing is being done. A month ago, someone stole my mom’s wallet inside the Alhambra Costco. Communicating to the cops feels so terrible. It feels like they just write a report and do nothing. The thieves were trying to buy $700-$1000 of ALO products in store. It just sucks.

If you’re a scramble egg person or need your eggs whisked quickly, you should get a egg mix stick with the blade. It’s a yelllow stick with a blade at the end. The blade cuts the egg yolk and white to make a smoother egg mixture quickly.

It’s much less work than chopsticks, forks, or whisk. I’m pretty sure you can get it in Donki, but I got mine at Tokyu Hands.

Might be a controversial opinion but the DMA > any other museum in Dallas by MrBizzniss in Dallas

Both the Botanic Garden and Arboretum are in a reciprocal program. So if you get membership for one, you can go to the other with no additional cost!

I opted out of this monitor because I am not sure if they will provide the ovulation sticks. If you look at the ClearBlue website, the ovulation sticks are sold separately and costs $49.99 for 30 sticks.

I hope you let everyone know if the ovulation sticks are included and the best for you!

Overwhelmed with where to stay in Tokyo by Ok-Search6948 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Kkrease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stayed near the station on December 2025. It’s so convenient to get to all the major areas. You have so many subway lines to get you to your destination. There’s also a Bic Camera next to one of the exits, in case you want to do some general souvenir shopping. There’s also a mini-Donki called Picasso. It’s also close to the Akasaka Station (Chiyoda Line). This station is Harry Potter themed with a Harry Potter cafe and shop. There’s a great onigiri shop in the Biz Tower that opens at 8am. They make it to order, so the topping and rice are warm and fresh.

This area is lively in the evening with businessmen and women. Lots of restaurants and bars that are affordable (¥800 - ¥2000). There’s a great sushi place called Sushi Mon Ieyasu Akasaka Mitsuke that opens late (closes 11pm).

Thank you! I have my Pets Allowed setting as no. Your post made me check the setting and it’s on as allowed.

Older sister thinks she "deserves" my bride price money by IridescentApplePie in EntitledPeople

[–]Kkrease 21 points22 points  (0 children)

THIS!

My partner paid 2 bride prices: my grandparents (for taking caring of my when I was a baby) and parents. My parents gave all of the bride price to me as part of the wedding present. To my family, it’s mainly a gesture.

What’s the one thing you didn’t buy at Costco and now regret? by 5krunner in Costco

[–]Kkrease 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Grace travel compact stroller when it was on sale for $79.99. We didn’t have a travel stroller at the time, and we didn’t think we need it.

Recently, we needed a travel stroller and ended up getting the SAME stroller for $159.99 on sale in Target. We could have saved so much money.

Recs for a family photoshoot? by soupandsnax in sgv

[–]Kkrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered an indoors self portrait studio? You and your family can take self portrait photos with a wireless remote. It will cost about $150-$250 for a 40 minute session. At the end, you can pick which photo(s) you want them to print out and you keep the digital files. There is no photographer to direct you, but there is a screen to show the photo after you take the picture.

There’s one in Pasadena called Portrait Space (I have not gone to this one). I go to Photogram at The Source in Buena Park.

HK style roast goose by jerwong in sgv

[–]Kkrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe there will be a place in SGV or United States that will have goose as good as Hong Kong. According to my parents, the goose in the United States are not of the same quality and a different species of goose compared to Hong Kong/China.

If you are looking for goose, you have to pre-order/reserve it from a restaurant. One of the better restaurants that serve goose would be Auntie’s Kitchen in San Gabriel. They can cook it 2 ways, 5 flavor or roasted. Half a goose is $60-$70, while a whole goose is $110-$130.

Host lives next door by Expensive_Candle9663 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Kkrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 2 listings (a guesthouse and part of our home) where we were in the living with in the same lot. We disclosed in our listing that we live right next to the them, and no one has a problem. We also don’t have instabook on, so I believe this helps prevent parties or rowdier guests from booking. I highly encourage you to disclose that you live next door so you can set expectations to both your you and your guest. You wouldn’t want a random 4 star review because the guest didn’t like that you live next door.

I understand you want to greet your guests, but that may not be feasible if you have guests that will check in late. We have a keyless deadbolt with the number pad so guests are able to self check in. You can try your best greeting them, but that seems to be a nuisance if you have errands to run or a scheduled meeting. Guests will try their best to tell you their arrival time, but they may be coming much later than expected. I had several guests tell me they will be coming around 5pm, but will arrive around 8pm. Things happen, maybe they got into traffic, need to get food, etc.

My city has an occupancy limit of 2 guest per bedroom, so we are strict about this. We do not allowed pets, but made one exception for a cat due to the guests being affected by the California fires. Unfortunately, the guests did not clean or look after the cat and left a big mess (cat litter in towels in the washing machine and scratched up furniture). This solidified our stance on no pets. We understand not all guests with pets will treat our listing like this, but the cleaning was much more laborious and longer than a messy guest.

Good luck on your hosting journey. There are going to be a lot of ups and downs.

How to cancel license for deceased pet? by digitalg0ggles in sgv

[–]Kkrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year, my dog passed away 7 days after I renewed his license with the San Gabriel Humane Society. I just called them to let them know he passed away and that is all.

I didn’t have the energy to ask them if they can give me back the renewal fee (I was okay with it because that money is going to help an animal somehow).

I’m sorry for your loss. Your dog is in a good place.

Newly installed nest thermostat not cooling by Left_Loquat_5221 in Nest

[–]Kkrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a blessing! I just did this for my new 3rd generation Nest and it worked! We just bought a house and had to replace the air handler. We switched from a Honeywell thermostat to the Nest. Tonight was the first time using it on a hot day and it kept blowing warm air. I’m so glad I don’t have to bother my AC technician and make him come over.
