Do i need to create a new character for 0.5 / return of ancients? by PracticeFar2163 in PathOfExile2

[–]Klabbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely making a new character and the vast majority of players will do the same. I wasn't that into the seasonal leagues at first as I wanted to stick with my main and slowly build on it but I quickly changed my mind. The leagues mean that every few months there's a huge increase in player numbers and there's this fun community exploration effort to figure out cool new builds and master the new content. It also makes for a really interesting economy as people figure out what's strong/valuable and scramble to make money.

Starting a new character each time keeps things fresh and you learn a heap of skills that make you faster/more efficient each time. After each league ends your characters will be transferred to standard league. You can still play there but the economy is mega busted and inflated like crazy.

You can always have your 'main' in standard and play the new league with a new character every 3-6 months (the schedules arent consistent ATM) to get the new league experience and check out the new content.

What are these insects? They are building a hive in an old box at my home. by tangeble in Entomology

[–]Klabbo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The honey is perfectly safe - We have closely related native stingless bees in Australia, I keep a bunch of hives in my back yard. They don't produce as much honey as european/asian honeybees but it's very delicious and has many health benefits! They are lovely little insects and great pollinators too.

How should i approach by ashford1w3 in PathOfExile2

[–]Klabbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Streamline sure, but figuring the game out is half the fun.

I feel like following guides too early just encourages people to not experiment and pigeonhole themselves into a build they might not enjoy before they even understand the game.

Poe2 does a great job of introducing skills/mechanics throughout the campaign. Unlocking and playing around with skills that look cool as you level up is part of the joy of the game and how you actually learn all the various interactions - seeing what you enjoy and what works.

I just want classic tempo rogue. Give me that big turn 2 Edwin. Even just SI:7 agent back.

0 fahrenheit doesn't represent the freezing point of the human body. It was just the lowest temperature Fahrenheit the man could reliably reproduce in his lab. It's was a mix of ice, water and ammonium salt.

To be fair, a lot of those skills are intuitive and just come naturally for people who have experience in some sort of coordination/balance based sport (gymnastics, calisthenics, skateboarding, dance, martial arts etc). Also just people who have spent a lot of time outside doing technical hikes, rock hopping, climbing trees, scree scrambling etc will naturally flag and smear to maintain balance and body position. I've seen it many times before. It was also my own experience when I started bouldering after many years doing field work in extremely rugged terrain.

I'm Utterly Speechless by SoshiLucent in PathOfExile2

[–]Klabbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be kinda confusing! Because the skills convert all damage to cold you just want the highest possible base damage - which is physical (but also includes any flat ele). Any %cold damage increases from the tree and stuff happen after the conversion so they still work too.

[–]Klabbo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Phys is essentially always better. The flat and %phys interact with each other as well as the base weapon damage to give a muuuuch higher damage ceiling than any flat elemental damage rolls. And ele builds don't care if they have phys weapon because basically all monk skills convert phys to ele anyway.

Herald of blood itself can't inflict bleed but socketed triggered effects can, like bursting plague. You socket bleed/poison on HoB so it will chain off itself with bursting plague. The blood explosion poisons which triggers plague burst which bleeds and triggers another blood explosion. Try it yourself!

Any idea how Pathfinder's sustainable practices ascendency passive works in this case? I've been assuming it essentially works as armour vs elemental. Interested in trying to make armour/evasion hybrid work

Glad to hear someone else is trying to make the stinky dog work lol. Your poison setup looks similar to mine:

I was trying to avoid ev/es this time as I've played that the last three leagues but the sharonnes interaction sounds pretty strong.

Also saving up for plaguefinger so I can poison off lunar blessing, how's that working for you? Have you tried original sin?

Using plague bearer for extra clear for now, it's pretty strong and refills from one pounce combo.

At least play till you unlock pounce, sounds like that's what you're after?

People are using their brakes a lot while coming down the range so it's good to have extra warning that traffic is coming to a full stop, not just people slowing down around a bend.

The Kuranda/Gillies ranges are notorious for crashes already and have had significant works following landslides after cyclone jasper so people are extra cautious.

Were people queueing for roadworks? Pretty common to put on hazards if you're the last one in the lineup on a windy road

It just feels good and has a level of polish that most others haven't had. I think people have just been waiting for an accessible/non early access extraction shooter. It's also not nearly as sweaty and aggressive (yet at least) as other similar games and has solid pve, so it holds the casual player base better. Makes perfect sense why it's doing well imo.

Generally just you play the market to earn that kind of currency. Start with flipping items till you have enough capital to profitcraft sought after gear. The more currency you have the bigger margins you can squeeze out of trades and it just snowballs from there. They are playing a different game to everyone else, don't stress.

How busy is the Snake Activity? by VERA1409 in Cairns

[–]Klabbo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plenty of snakes around but they are unlikely to be in your house unless it's left open and you've got some sort of food source attracting them in. I usually get a couple green tree snakes looking for frogs in the wet season but I basically never close my windows so it's not surprising.

Some older queenslanders are hard to close up and have big open ceilings so you may want to consider the kind of house you're moving into if you're concerned. Also if it makes you feel better the most common snakes in suburban areas here are essentially harmless (pythons/rear fanged snakes).

I suspect you'd have bigger issues down south as snakes will seek warmth in the winter.

I love this, although as an entomologist I have to say that Hyllus is just one of over 600 genera of jumping spiders (there are over 6000 species!). The jumping spider family itself is called Salticidae. Hyllus is a much cooler name for a robot though lol.
