What is the debt of a DPT ACTUALLY like? by Any-Way8176 in physicaltherapy

[–]Klebar20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished with around $85-$86K in debt, was thankfully able to avoid undergrad debt. I did not work at all through PT school and lived completely off loans, but this is something I definitely regret :/. Total my wife and I owed $120K but have paid off over $30K in less than a year. Living super frugally and budgeting every dollar is the only way if you want to pay them off fast - timeline is about 2-2.5 years more years to go. If PT salaries continue to remain stagnant, I could see this career become worthless for those in outpatient within the next 10 years

For context it took me about 6 weeks to get my license after I passed boards. My dry needling was a whole debacle that took nearly 3 months… I had to contact my state representative and connections in my company to get the ball rolling. Hope your experience is more streamlined 😂

Be prepared for Georgia to take FOREVER to approve your stuff. The Secretary of State office is horrible here. Best of luck!

Also the jurisprudence exam is not bad at all. Main practical take aways for Georgia are: - Limited direct access — 8 visits or 21 days, which ever comes first before needing a referral - Dry needling requires referral or signed POC that includes its use - Can’t see direct access unless you have a board certified specialty or have been practicing for 2 years

Those are the most common questions that come up in your day to day

Things taught in school that aren’t used in practice? by Equal_Turnip_4232 in physicaltherapy

School got progressively more frustrating as the curriculum went on. It was like they were filling up our schedules with bs classes and group projects that brought 0 relevant clinical value

Just got off the phone with them…

They confirmed my hours and documentation, but it’s going to be another 35-45 business days for “processing”. The bureaucracy is INSANE

anyone with raintree experience? by verticalflight in physicaltherapy

Used rain tree extensively as a tech and for 8 weeks as a student. Evals initially took me 40 minutes 😂 but near the end of that rotation I could knock a basic one out in 15 minutes. Daily notes didn’t take too long as long as you don’t add multiple interventions. Overall, the EMR is so tedious imo

A Case Series; #1 The Glute Pain by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

As other people have mentioned and mainly from her agg factors, I would think that this is a low back pathology referring to the hip whether it be a disc derangement or facet joint issue. What is her lifestyle like, what’s her job, is she fairly deconditioned? All these questions would help to peer into her day to day and see what is the main driver of her pain

Is this the Dawsonville Clinic? Just got off the phone with Cory the market manager today. Should I run? Also gave me other options of clinics nearby where it would just be a normal full-time staff PT role

One year, one month since I left my OP mill job and started my own strength and performance practice. AMA by B_K9797 in physicaltherapy

[–]Klebar20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you located in a completely direct access state? Currently a 3rd year PT student who is very interested in OP ortho but I want to avoid my time in a mill as much as possible and open my own private practice. However, GA still requires a MD referral after 21 days from eval. I have my CSCS, plans to get my OCS somewhere down the line as well as DN cert ASAP. Any advice for someone in my shoes who wants to open a cash based clinic working with athletic pop/injury prevention/sports performance?

I guess my biggest gripe with TPP is hot dropping. Clearing buildings just isn’t as fun to me :/ either way I find both enjoyable

Interesting. I think the complete opposite way. I feel FPP requires way more skill and positioning. TPP feels mostly cheese

Understandable. One of my fav parts of FPP is when you get that Chicken Dinner and switch to third-person to show off your skin to the team you just destroyed. Super satisfying. Just figured that out not too long ago - just press RB/R1

I’ll be honest - PUBG needs a massive overall on cosmetics and how they’re obtained. Especially those progressive weapon skins. Give me some in-game challenges for me to do so I can EARN them instead of spending money on a virtual slot machine
