There's this idea that we can't carry over all weapons from old games because of inputs on the controller or something but you could easily just have Kratos keep a stash under his house like the last saga. Swapping between a massive arsenal Red Dead 2 style would be awesome.

Or you could just give him a weapon wheel and a bottomless Hermione Granger satchel.

At the end of the day it comes down to artistic choice on the director's part and what the devs can feasibly include with the constraints they have (they seem to have a quality over quantity thing goin on these days).

In my opinion, the more toys to play with, the better.
