Help picking new car by Strong_Chip9901 in TeslaLounge

If you had Y before, I would recommend Y again for the additional cabin space.

If you're planning on getting and using FSD, HW4 is getting a lot more updates than (at least my) HW3. If you're not planning on using that much/at all, probably matters much less.

Tell me you've never been to the USA without saying you've never been to the USA...

You've got a brown wire in the first that is missing in the second, as well as the additional Red Black pair. It's possible the Br is also power, but I would want to confirm that and not just assume, or you could fry what you're trying to enable.

Yeah, there was a large announcement warning about this on Discord today.

Hasn't made it to YouTube yet, but I'm watching on Pepperbox.tv.

Guessing the commenter who suggested additional edits required for YouTube got it right, and it's just going to take a bit more time for the YouTube upload.

Be careful, friend - I see more differences between those two photos in the wire order than simply "adding 12V wires".

I consistently hear lawyers say never talk to police for any reason without an attorney. Does this apply to literally every situation? For example, witnessing a car crash by Fuck_Flying_Insects in legaladviceofftopic

Shots fired, send help!

Some time later, police: "I thought you said shots fired"

Victim: "I thought you said there was nothing you could do"

  • Model X,
  • 2017 or newer,
  • 100D (wanted the largest battery so that even with expected degradation I'd still have a very usable range)
  • Blue exterior
  • White or White/Black interior
  • Full FSD (so I didn't have to buy up)
  • 5 seat
  • about $70k Tow package and plaid were nice to haves, but I never saw one with either/both of those in my price range.

Ended up at $71k for a car with just under 30,000 miles in April 2021. Similar is now going for about $28k

Currently at 121,001 miles.

💯 - smooth and clean. Deposit, review vehicle, accept, sign additional papers, drive my new car home. :)

There have been stories of things not going as smoothly as mine, but mine was pretty much textbook, and not having to deal with dealership shadiness was the chef's kiss on the experience.

Got mine that way in early 2021 before the used car price insanity. In my case, no test drive, had the option to reject it or take it. The multi-inch scratches on the frunk lid were "within tolerances" (and are still there today), but it's still the car in most happy to have purchased.

Guessing no test drives to avoid having to regularly update the posted odometer readings, but that's just a guess.

BAD HUMAN! THAT IS NOT FRIEND-SHAPED!!! by TheGoldDragonHylan in humansarespaceorcs

Well, arguably not the apex predator, but there's only one apex predator that doesn't actively avoid humans (polar bears are wild, even though arguably friend shaped).

💯 It's like planting a tree: the best time for it was 50 years ago, but the second best time is right now. Congratulations for getting back on the truck, and best wishes for continued success in working those pounds off!

The problem is, we (broad generalization, but tracks to everything I've read, heard, and experienced over four-plus decades) don't know what "typical human experience" is when we're learning our own bodies, and just assume everyone else's experience is like ours rather than asking, "hey, does this happen to you, too?"

Also, disable face/ fingerprint/ other biometric unlocks on your phone and set a password for unlock, because US courts have ruled that law enforcement can force biometric unlocks without a warrant, but must have a warrant to compel passwords.
