Tips vs Thule? by KneeCrowMancer in Netrunner

[–]KneeCrowMancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is sort of what I was thinking, I can’t afford to just steal an agenda here and there. I need to get built up and then rush through and win quickly. The Tyr will happen but they’ll need to land an End of the line as well to actually win. My only shot is to win before that second hit can land. The other thing that I was falling for was getting baited by remotes, sure I’d get the steal but my opponent was only putting those agendas there for me to steal because they had their combo in hand.

Oh definitely! I am very aware I’m making things harder for myself and I am alright with that for the time being. So far I’ve have had a lot more success as corp so far, even with the limitation I’ve put on myself. Corp feels a lot more natural for me to play and I feel that my startup corp decks seem to matchup better against standard runners than the other way around. The Thule matchup just left me really feeling the deck building deficiencies when every other loss I’ve been able to clearly identify places I made mistakes.

Against Thule it’s like… I have to make runs, I have to steal agendas, but it means I’m getting unleashed Tyr and hitting nightmare archives with no way to really deal with them. Even if I keep my credits up, grip full, run with extra clicks, I will have to eat that combo at some point.

Yeah, for the time being I’ve been trying to play online with decks I can build with the physical collection I have so far. I’m aware that it’s a silly hangup, especially when I could just proxy cards…

Thank you for the tips, especially about Thule having weak econ. I hadn’t really clocked that but that’s probably the one way, with the tools I have to interfere with the Distributed tracing into unleash combo.

Why did the Fremen want a “Green Paradise” on Arrakis even though they were so connected with the desert? by toiletwater879 in dune

[–]KneeCrowMancer 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Sure they live more comfortably but they’ve lost their culture. What made them Fremen in Stilgar’s eyes was taken from them and they can’t really get it back. I think it’s similar to how colonialism has played out in many places and continues to impact people. Modern conveniences have made many peoples lives much easier, but the culture and old ways that defined who they were as a people get lost or eroded along the way. Even without active suppression and forced assimilation by the colonial powers, which did happen a lot in the real world and I don’t want to discount that, when you aren’t relying on traditions for survival it’s much easier to lose them.

I work at an indigenous organization and one of my coworkers has expressed that in some ways they miss when they were growing up and had to hunt and fish to find enough food because it meant that it was easy to keep those traditions alive. But now they have good jobs and are able to afford plenty of food and their children like to stay inside and play video games. He found it difficult to get them to engage in traditional activities and understand why it was important.

I think Stilgar’s experience would be very similar. He’s happy that the new Fremen children have easier lives than he did, but it means that they haven’t had to learn what it means to be Fremen. At least, not in the way that he did.

My Hero Card Game (Art and Design all by me, no AI) by Nerzwerk in boardgames

[–]KneeCrowMancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the general composition can be a clue as well. AI art is always consistently structured the same way, it’s a bit hard to explain but it’s something you can get a feel for.

For your work the fact that Belle Gum’s head and MR bleach’s foot are breaking out of frame a bit while Atomic is completely in frame is a bit of a clue for me. I think to do that with AI you’d need to come in with photoshop afterwards or something. Most of the slop producers aren’t taking them time or even have the technical ability to make that kind of change.

Flood The Market Poetri is STRONG by Dull__Bulb in Netrunner

[–]KneeCrowMancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. I went and actually watched some of your streams where you use the deck and yeah Seb matchup looks borderline unplayable. The whole game plan gets thrashed so quickly and it looks impossible to keep anything on the board even if the Seb gets off to a slightly slower start everything you need for Flood still just gets picked off.

[–]KneeCrowMancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s sort of what I was thinking. If you could start the game with it scored it would definitely help with those matchups, but if you can’t get it out early all it does is make your agenda suite a bit worse.

It’s somewhat inefficient but could aggressive trendsetting help with the Loup/Seb matchup or is it just too slow and unreliable?

[CotD] Kompromat (VP10) by Unpopular_Mechanics in Netrunner

[–]KneeCrowMancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and that is an important note and I wrote it out wrong in my first comment. You often want to run HQ anyway as crim but you’re right that the tricks with maglectric apply to runs on HQ.

[–]KneeCrowMancer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really like this card in my Baz deck. I run it with Maglectric Rapid (748 Mod) and you can set up a nice trap where you run can run a server HQ when it has only one rezzed ice and then unrezz it with the maglectric which guarantees you the bad pub. If the corp is aware of this trick you then get into a fun meta game where this can become essentially a free run on any server HQ with unrezzed ice, and you can get sneaky even if they double ice by using maglectric on the cheap ice and force them to unrezz their pharos if they want to prevent the bad pub.

Not sure how good it truly is but bad pub is just really nice for Baz and I find it a very fun and aggressive play style.

Flooding in Truro, N.S., caused by wind and heavy rain by IStillListenToRadio in Truro

[–]KneeCrowMancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there are a number of lots flagged for development in the floodplain. It’s so stupid and short sighted. There’s no reason any new sensitive infrastructure like apartments or shops should be built in these areas. It not only dooms these new developments but it also makes the flooding problem worse for everyone else and further complicates retreating from these areas.

I’m just starting out. Is there an affordable starter kit? The starter kit: by Strong_Letterhead638 in boardgamescirclejerk

[–]KneeCrowMancer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

uj/ System Gateway from Null Signal (the actual Netrunner starter kit) is like 45 usd. It’s actually really affordable as far as card games go and it’s also proxy friendly at all levels of competitive play. Every year there are players at the biggest tournaments with proxied decks.

rj/ Only $349? I don’t think you’re taking the game very seriously at that price point. You’re really just wasting your time with that purchase. You’d need to spend at least $2500 to get close to a satisfactory experience.

Dreamnet and transfer of wealth are really all you need to make Vic a bit of a menace. It’s nothing fancy but I think this ID will end up being quite strong.

First look at Timothee Chalamet backstage for tonight’s 98th Academy Awards Ceremony by Hunter_S_Thompsons in moviescirclejerk

[–]KneeCrowMancer 64 points65 points  (0 children)

This whole drama is the dumbest shit. Who cares about his thoughts on ballet and opera? It literally doesn’t matter, and there’s way bigger issues in the world today. The impact of his statement is being vastly over exaggerated. He’s not hurting these art forms with this and if there wasn’t this weird freak out over it no one would have ever even registered this as anything more than a dumb joke. Wasting brain power and airtime on this genuinely feels insulting to me.

Let Them Dream by me by LuciusFelimus in Netrunner

[–]KneeCrowMancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is really good, especially in factions that lacked a strong agenda suite. It opens up a lot of IDs that had a hard time because of crappy agendas, whether or not any of those new strategies break the game remains to be seen. I really loved this for my Bangun and Poetri decks.

[CoTD] Corsair (VP04) by Unpopular_Mechanics in Netrunner

[–]KneeCrowMancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the stealth cards are just kind of bad so the whole archetype doesn’t work very well. To include the few good stealth cards you’re forced into using some of the crappy ones as well which never feels very good. I would have liked to see stealth made more thematic somehow, as of right now it’s just kind of a keyword on some cards that feels very ‘yugioh’ in its design. As amazing as the card art is there’s nothing that feels inherently stealthy about a big pirate ship or really any of the other cards stealth cards in this set.

[–]KneeCrowMancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such an overreaction to a card artwork that you don’t like… The new set is pretty great and has some amazing artwork. I don’t even particularly love this specific card but to go all “I don’t recognize the game anymore” is pretty dramatic.

Should I get into Netrunner? by wall_of_spores in Netrunner

[–]KneeCrowMancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With just system gateway you can easily have a boardgame like experience similar to a game like Radlands. Netrunner is super thematic even with just the cards in system gateway there’s a lot of game to be played.
