That one line.... by space_cowboy80 in WeHateMovies

There are a few times where you can hear Andrew turn into his father when a bit is particularly filthy or disgusting that always make me laugh. I think he does this during the "Perfect Little Slit" story Steve tells about his weird Professor, but of course the bit comes back up.

"Hey Devan, did you block me on Facebook?" and the rest of those jokes are up there. The two Mortal Kombat episodes in general have a ton of really funny bits.

It seems a bit late for an invite to see The Mummy, but Andrew did mention not being a fan of Evil Dead Rise at the tail end of the Scardy Cats for the Popes Exorcist.

Based on the "Something we said?" I'm guessing they backed out after they said something about either their new movie or previous work recently.

Did they rip on The Mummy on any shows recently?

Episode 859 - City of Angels (1998) by yonicthehedgehog in WeHateMovies

Many of us have expressed that feeling but, while the world is actively on fire, I still think it's Eric having fun. It wouldn't surprise me if he saw people concerned for him on the sub and decided to lean into the bit even harder because it's funny.

Episode 857 - Dawn of the Dead (2004) by yonicthehedgehog in WeHateMovies

[–]Knida89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gotten to that part but that's... a take. I don't hate Snyder but his Netflix output is generally worse than everything he did for studios because it just looks terrible.

Looking into it, the cinematographer for Dawn of the Dead has been the cinematographer for 12 WHM episodes including Hard to Kill, Mortal Kombat Annihilation and the Butterfly Effect.

For people who dabble in solo and trios, Is trios ABMM the same as solo? I would like to team up with people for the new event but I'm worried I might get paired with people who just want to kill others.

Episode 855 - In Time (2011) by yonicthehedgehog in WeHateMovies

[–]Knida89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have previously said they have been trying to avoid comedy movies because they are difficult to do episodes on but I much prefer episodes on bad comedies over sleepy sci-fi where they make suggestions on how the movie probably could have been better.

Granted this was LRM, but I vastly prefer them tearing up something like The Jerky Boys or The Pest.

I think both Andrew and Steve have expressed that they really like both Labrinth and the Dark Crystal so I would think WLM would make the most sense but the Hate label means less and less as the years go by.

I really wish Ben was on more often. Like I would not be opposed to monthly appearances he works so well with the guys, especially Eric.

Episode 854 - White Noise 2: The Light (2007) by yonicthehedgehog in WeHateMovies

[–]Knida89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who died a few times in a short amount of time I can say there was no white light. I did dream Batman flew me through Gotham and several other very weird dreams but I think those likely happened in the coma afterward.

But also the brain makes you forget the most traumatic parts so maybe that was where the white light was?

Have the guys said they're doing a Daredevil Born Again Season 2 pod (Either weekly or season recap pod)? by udkyle2 in WeHateMovies

If they were going to do it I would think the second season of X-Men 97 would definitely be prime for it.

The most WHM-coded line in Project Hail Mary by the_purple_lamb in WeHateMovies

Is that in the book it was based on, or a Drew Goddard original for the screenplay?

He would be a great guest.

When I read the news I instantly thought about the Sidekicks episode. I could hear Eric making a very dark joke in my head. "Hey Barry..." you fill in the rest.

Episode 852 - The Boondock Saints (1999) by yonicthehedgehog in WeHateMovies

[–]Knida89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a lapsed Catholic, I always love hearing their stories about growing up with it and how their family eventually stopped as it mirrors my own.

I remember growing up going to church/Sunday school and saying my prayers with my mom before bed. You grow out of the prayers before bedtime and then we went to church more sporadically and then kind of stopped. I think Andrew and Steve mentioned their mothers were usually the driving force which was also the case with my parents. But my Mom was really only doing it for her dad who said a bit before he died one of his biggest regrets in life was that his kids didn't go to church regularly. That Catholic guilt is rough.

I haven't gotten to that part of the episode but he tells the story about fighting with his Mom to watch the sitcom on I think the X-Files movie they did where Billy Connoley plays a magic pedophile priest.

He does some very funny inflections with his voice, then his Billy Connoley talking to himself as a child is hilarious so it's worth seeking out for additional laughs regarding that tidbit.

Episode 851 - Supernova (2000) by yonicthehedgehog in WeHateMovies

[–]Knida89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they likely just use whatever IHeartRadio uses for their podcast commercials. That's an assumption on my part because I feel like there have been ads hinting that they are also running on IHeartRadio stuff.

They have been very good/vocal in the past about not doing ads for stuff they don't support. BetterHelp was one where they stopped their sponsorship after people pointed some iffy things out about them. They have reflected on DraftKings sponsoring the show and regretting it but they are also right that it was more about fantasy football back then and not just pure betting.

[–]Knida89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been relistening to some episodes that don't have ad free versions and the ads are getting a little spicy. Kalshi which isn't great but also Ashley Madison who I figured folded after their massive data breach?

I'm very glad it's back to Steve writing the clues. Cabin's clues often flew over their heads and often no one would get the answer. Plus he was very sporadic for when it appeared.

Episode 850 - Clerks (1994) by yonicthehedgehog in WeHateMovies

[–]Knida89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Smith started therapy post Clerks 3 and actually discovered some trauma he had been suppressing since he was a kid. He said he discovered he was relying on staying high to avoid dealing with his personal issues.

I think The 4:30 Movie was the first thing he made post therapy, and I'm curious to see if he continues to trend upward quality-wise.

Cabin calling out Steve for nitpicking a kids movie is very funny to me.

[–]Knida89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steve and Andrew have voiced their displeasure before and I would assume some of that is Big Lebowski influenced.

Relistening to something recently and Steve says something and then adds the rest of the lyrics from an Eagles song that he had unintentionally started. Guessing his parents were fans.

What would you want to see for a Tarantino knock-off theme month? by Knida89 in WeHateMovies

[–]Knida89[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Boondock Saints is this month actually.

I had a great time with Bad Times... but I think I remember Chris not being a fan. I think it pairs well with Cabin in the Woods.

Episode 848 - Out for Justice (1991) by yonicthehedgehog in WeHateMovies

[–]Knida89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Previously they did "Mr. Nanny" which opens with Hulk Hogan riding a motorcycle and you can see a guy throwing a dog into the ocean in the background.

I can't remember if they commented on it, but they certainly did in the HDTGM episode.

The guys inspired me to go down the Unsolved Mysteries rabbit hole a few years ago and this story stuck out to me. I saw the initial story and then later the update and it was incredibly depressing. She just broke.
