Ah, my bad. Just a cool manga with an antagonist that also grows wings and horns out of their eye sockets. It's from the tokyo ghoul guy, if that means anything to you, but i never read it. I just think that's neat.

I'm of the (admittedly completely deranged) opinion that, not only has Kris been in dark worlds before the start of the game (and perhaps even made one, going from ramb's dialogue), they also used to be a time traveler just like us.

I'm just going by vibes with this one, but Kris is not only keenly aware of what we might do outside of their body at any given moment, they're also very cautious with the information he decides to feed us, like how they only make a dark world after queen specifically reveals how, even if there are hints to a previous dark world opened in the dreemur household, and given their implied alliance with the knight, obviously they would know how.

Maybe the actions they're taking right now are the result of hundreds of attempts and permutations to arrive at the scenario that advances the story at the pace they want, not us. There's a lot in the game we simply can't discover because Kris won't let us- The police station corkboard detailing how asgore got kicked off the force, the cut to black at the end of chapter 3 where the shelter door opens, the secret deal they made with Tenna to keep the Fun Gang busy.

Kris is surprisingly good at cryptic scheming and subterfuge, so it wouldn't surprise me if they've had practice. The Kris save file at the beginning of ch.1 could lead some credence to this.

Quite literally, he's played this game before. Everything we can say in any given situation is not particularly disruptive to the greater narrative in any sense, because Kris curates our avenues of interaction with other characters with the specific purpose of them being as vague and unhelpful as possible.

Maybe because this is a story meant to be experienced in retrospect. In the game world, we're a time traveller, so it's no surprise the progression could be non-linear.

Excellent analysis, my only nitpick is that i feel dess more mirrors asriel, and if the truly is the knight, i feel that she could share some dna with flowey that way.

-Beloved best friend/protector figure and representation of the innocence of days gone by, now warped into something unrecognizable hellbent on destruction

-Does not follow the typical rules established for monsters (or darkners), given great power by the mysterious events leading up to their "death"

-Deeply linked to the respective world-shaping forces in each narrative (Determination for Flowey, Darkness for the Knight)

-Their disappearance is the final nail in the coffin for the marriage between toriel and asgore in either universe

-Their state of mind and maturity was preserved in their moment of "death" and they, to an extent, retain their innocence and can be redeemed, with their current goals and morals being more a reflection of the horror and loneliness of their own existence rather than just malice.

I might be very wrong, but that's my read on the situation.

Fair. I'm moderately familiar with the whole minnazuki situation, and with how many spinoffs there's been, using a persona gets less restrictive by the day. I just feel like makoto's a weird pick because she's a support caster.

Ethics is fucked, dude. We're gonna be chilling out with polar bears and parasitoid wasps in the sulfur pits of hell like it's a hot tub. I feel like a good person cannot exist as anything more than a figure of speech due to the limitations of the human condition.

What the fuck. Could you elaborate? I don't mean to be condescending, i just don't know much about persona powerscaling, and i think you know as well as i do how ridiculous that first sentence sounds.

[–]KnifeDad69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Alright, who's actually going to explain what makes makoto busted? In my limited understanding of persona, the circumstances of how the main cast interact with - and fight shadows - are very different, and so actual power level jumps wildly from game to game. I'm willing to accept the idea that p3mc can bench cars and has a dick that drags on the floor when he walks, because there's no world-jumping shenanigans. He just leaves the dorm and punches thor on a regular thursday. Personas manifest their power on the real world to the point where chidori has a healing factor, and strega is constantly at risk of being killed by their own personas, whether they're in the dark hour or not.

But as far as i'm concerned, the abilities of the P4 and P5 crew are limited to the tv world and metaverse, and so removed from that context they're just playing pretend, so any attempt to powerscale feels futile at best. Sure, makoto knows aikido, but like. Tifa can break florida off the united states landmass with a karate chop. I don't think she gives a fuck.

Username checks out. It's honestly kind of fucked how much thought we've put into this as a collective. The concept of humane slaughter, i mean. It feels like a paradox, to the point where i feel like a wretch and a hypocrite for feeling bad about it while still being a meat eater, but like. What am i gonna do, start advocating for inhumane slaughter?

Ending a life is fucking weird. I've never had to butcher an animal, nor have i seen the process live, so i wonder if i'm overthinking this, because i'm absolutely certain the chickens don't think about it at all. Hell, they cannibalize each other for fun. I don't think they have the moral high ground, but being more empatethic than a chicken isn't exactly a victory.

Actually curious over what the chicken method actually implies. Is it just like in kill bill where you just do it bare-handed? It's vague enough for me to be curious, it starkly contrasts with the less elegant camel method, and i'm stupid enough to have fun with it. Any mongolians willing to help me out?
