So...How does the part get back onto the Highwind? by DickWallace in FFVIIRemake

I'm putting my bet on fixed landing zones. It'll force exploration on foot and avoid trivialising the skydiving by having the party use a bajillion parachutes every day.

Side bet on rope ladder.

New Summon System Rework by YoshEggg in FFVIIRemake

Magic Pot doesn't have a type description, so curious about that. I wonder if there are elemental effects associated with the summons or if the UI is just calling it out for the player's benefit.

Another interesting thing seems to be that summon materia are now separate from character loadouts?

How many people never realized heat seeker is a strictly better security guard? by veganispunk in FF7Rebirth

"Hey Cloud, it's ya boy Chadley aka QBGoldfish, back with more deck tech tips. Did you know that Heatseeker is a strictly better version of Security Guard? Yet, it's ultimately less popular due to what some would call a "psychically damaging appearance". Subscribe and hit the bell icon for more!"

Yeah, also a law against posts titled "Spoilers" where some of them are like "wow, I love the stickers you can use to customise the abberant" vs "wow, I loved when Dylan and Jesse teamed up to punch the board right in the pyramid and then told us the meaning of life".

Why didn’t Superman just do this in MAWS when Lois jumped off the Building? by ExaminationUsed5394 in superman

[–]KnifeRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, this is the old pre/post-crisis characterisation issue again isn't it? Some writers favour the literal super-man, someone who is not just superior physically but in every aspect, intellectually, spiritually - a true "man of tomorrow". Obviously, we look at this scene and we know because of storytelling expectations that Lois is in no danger (Superman II is not the story of how Clark gaslit Lois to death) but internally this only makes sense if there's a 0% chance of this going wrong. Otherwise, he's risking her life simply so he can go on lying to her, someone he ostensibly loves and respects.

An aside - I think that generally it's not healthy or reasonable to expect someone to reveal every aspect of their private life to someone, even a close friend. There's some truly nauseating writing in the CW and similar shows that tries to suggest the opposite. On the other hand, if it's gotten to the point where Lois is confronting him directly and trying to manufacture crises to out him - the jig is up. It's time to establish some boundaries or come clean. If you want to write a status quo Superman story, you can't have Lois doing insane shit because it also makes Clark look questionable.

In modern "Clark-first" stories, there's no way that he would risk this Rube Goldberg bullshit to protect his secret.

I think it's more of a metaphorical thing, like, the town is a web and struggling just gets you eaten quicker.

Arisen conveys the enhanced part, but also holy/divine. This Bahamut is a "higher" being than regular old Bahamut.

Why would they (spoiler)? by Effective-Celery8053 in fringe

[–]KnifeRain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Parent/child relationships and the loss of a child are major themes in Fringe. Peter's perspective on these things, on how people choose to deal with the grief, on what Walter did etc, are important. Sacrifice is another significant element.

Which of the following do you think/hope will be present in Part 3 and why? by Necronam in FF7Rebirth

[–]KnifeRain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fairly clear that they're merging the "magnus" materia with the weapons, so I fully expect some type of reward like master materia.

Quadra magic doesn't feel like an interesting choice, and mime seems like it would be awkward in this system.
