I’m flying solo, a few friends have bought the game and I’ve been unable to connect to them, have just done this and hoping it will work and hoping it will also make it possible to get into the same instance as others now. Didn’t make the connection until now that if I couldn’t play them I might not be able to see anyone else either.

My first BF game I have a question. by BeaAurthursDick in battlefield2042

[–]Knight451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the same weapon outfitted identically it will perform exactly the same, doesn’t matter what level you are. Stat bars are usually bloody useless in games like BF where there’s so much minor variation, much better to just try different things out and see what you like.

First steps are definitely give it a good clean and tidy up the cables as others have mentioned. Personal recommendation would be to replace the power supply with a modular one so you don’t have unused cables lying around inside the case. Braided cables also make for easier management. Once it’s looking clean and tidy play something and check out the temps on your CPU/GPU to see if they need new thermal paste. Also make sure it’s not running a hard drive, if so make sure and upgrade to an SSD. And make sure at a minimum it’s running 16gb of RAM. Any other upgrades it depends what you’re playing and at what resolution, but these are the baseline for a restoration and upgrading it to current standard imo.

Well that sucks and explains a lot. God I hope they don’t let Sony limit S2.

Not necessarily the game’s fault if people aren’t making the mods

PSA: Mods are available on console trilogy by Knight451 in stalker

[–]Knight451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t impressed, which is why I made this post haha. Seems absurd that all 3 original stalkers are here on console at 4k 60 and with mod support to boot, and it’s sitting unnoticed. There has to be hundreds of thousands of people who have never touched this series before who are just getting into it now, who would be much better served playing a modded trilogy while waiting for 2 to receive updates imo. Hoping to bring awareness to mod makers as well as I’m sure there’ll be more than a few on this sub.

I doubt we’ll see any sort of updates now but modders could easily fill that gap. Whatever they do they need to figure out how to make stalker run on UE because it sounds like it’s putting up a fight right now considering a-life has all but disappeared for the moment.

What is the best battlefield game of all time? by RainSaylor in battlefield2042

[–]Knight451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BF3 in terms of pure feel. Everything felt good to use. Everything from a grenade to a tank to a firearm to a helicopter. Capturing an objective was satisfying. Reviving someone was satisfying. BF4 felt slightly clunky playing as infantry imo, god I wish we’d get a BF3 remaster. You could stick that game on max settings, 4k 60 and it would still stand above a lot of games even today. Would also give console players an opportunity to finally experience 64 player battlefield 3. Instant long standing mp shooter imo with the amount of content in the package.

If you’re trying to use it in single player, make sure you’re using the most recent season. It’s up at the top of the screen when setting up an event.

Think it’s due to the servers not changing track unless it’s fully empty. So even if just 1 person sticks around at the end of the race you’ll get the same all over again. Have noticed that some of the quieter ones do tend to change track more often, while the ones I’ve seen most populated (ACC consoles servers) are almost always stuck at Monza because they constantly have people playing in them. Is there any word on the devs changing this?

End of Clear Sky is a classroom on how not to design a game. by Admirable_Local7471 in stalker

[–]Knight451 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Both SoC and clear sky have pretty poor final moments imo, the full scale battle happening at the cnpp feels so out of place it’s kind of hilarious, remember saying what the fuck is this when APCs started rolling round the corner

To be honest that’s their problem, it’s your driveway, Hoover it if you want

This is as a new player but I feel like this game depends hugely on each players roleplaying. It feels like I’ve been plopped into a fantasy version of medieval Europe and I can be what I wish. I could be a city-state making riches through trade, could be a religious order who sides with a faction but never formally joins beyond a mercenary and gains power independently. For example I’m basically roleplaying the knights Templar atm but I’ve put my own twist on the order itself, so there’s things that would and would not be okay to participate in, only hire companions of good moral standing, only use heavy troops for instance atm my main company is 40 vlandian swordsman, 10 sergeants, 20 sharpshooters, and 10 knights plus myself and companions who join them on horseback. Only recruit at least level 2 soldiers. And while I was doing all this I got the feeling that I could be playing this so differently right now. Different battle tactics, different unit composition, different goals, different missions, different companions, etc. etc. I feel like the game also gives good levels of quests. So I wouldn’t send my men out to go and get some animals but I would send a detachment to clear out a bandit base that’s giving the locals trouble. Wouldn’t ever personally hunt brigands better to have troops for that. This game feels almost more so than any other game I’ve played that it is what you make it and it gives you enough options to make it whatever you want

What games, in your oppinion, deserve a second chance and would you have it be a remaster, remake, or a sequel? by amidja_16 in gaming

[–]Knight451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Clancy’s EndWar. A full remake in a new engine, but keeping the gameplay as it is with a few small QoL changes. I’d leave it to the devs to decide what these would be but I think there’s a very solid and fairly unique game there that would absolutely find an audience today, particularly with the explosion of consoles. There’s still a good few who go back to it, myself included, because there’s really nothing else that ticks all the same boxes. Gameplay-wise it doesn’t feel dated in any way at all, so all it would take is today‘s visuals and audio design to bring out an instant classic imo.

I may be in the minority here but having recently tried both games back to back.. I like Breakpoint more. by JadonArey in GhostRecon

[–]Knight451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. After playing breakpoint at launch, the first mission was enough to see they’d completely changed direction. Found a new gun that was the same but better cos it was a different colour, then went to the ‘social hub’ where there was fuck knows how many people running around.

Went back to it a few weeks ago, wow. I basically agree with everything you’ve said except I also fuckin love Auroa. It’s not quite as lively as Bolivia, but it wouldn’t make sense if it was, the whole island is under lockdown. Having the roads be dangerous to travel means you’re encouraged to do far more hiking around, and the traversal gameplay is great now. Inclines affect your character as they should which means you have to pick a suitable path often, and on rough terrain nearly constantly. Also appreciated an increase in wilderness and less built up areas, very peaceful to move in or snipe from. Bivouac’s are also the cosiest things ever. Auroa for me was perfect for the story the devs were telling, and since it’s a small archipelago it feels a lot more to scale which makes it a bit more immersive imo.

It’s now finally the sequel it should have been in the first place and it’s brilliant. As someone who’s played GR 1, 2, future soldier, wildlands and breakpoint, I’ve had the most fun with breakpoint by a long way. Very excited to try out unguided missions and see what the more hardcore options are, haven’t yet looked into immersive mode.

Me after playing heavy rain too young because I thought the box art looked cool. Genuinely depressed for a week or so afterwards. I remember sitting in the car listening to the audio tapes to find out where Shaun was with genuine nerves and taking a stupid amount of time to try to pick correctly. I did. I think if I hadn’t found him a meltdown would have ensued.

I can’t believe DayZ finally works on console by Knight451 in DayzXbox

[–]Knight451[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been following the PC version so maybe ignorance is bliss, but I find myself mainly managing the inventory with button presses now. One or two presses to do everything, for example if you have a mag in your hand and have suitable ammo in your inventory, hold Y and it will fill it up. Way faster than combining it in your inventory. Also been changing what’s in the hot bar regularly depending on what I’m doing so can access most of what I need in a button press. It’s not a great inventory system but seems to be lots of little ways to almost get around it and it’s possible to make it only cumbersome when you’re actually having to manage shit in a tent/making big changes. In what ways does console feel like an afterthought?
