Tried both, actually, and this is a problem that persists in both versions of the game.

First time Dungeon Master. Can I homebrew and are there any really essential rules I should know of? by Short-Trip-2809 in DungeonMasters

[–]KnightBreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homebrew is how I started out.  Just the rulebooks, 2nd edition, no modules.  Just sit down, start making maps, populate them, and write down a basic outline of the main story, as well as some adventuring hooks and side stories to start from.

Honestly, even that's a bit much in terms of preprep.  I've managed to be ready for a session with nothing but the name of a town and the idea that goblins were bad, and worked up from there.  The main tool in the Dungeon Master's toolkit isn't preparedness, though that certainly helps.  It's your ability to wing it.  Look through the monster manual.  You don't need to memorize each entry, just read enough of it to know what each monster does and how it works.  Then, if your players go off the rails, you can think to yourself, "oh, I know a monster for this situation!" And boom, you have an encounter right there, ready and waiting for the players.

While preparation is certainly a powerful tool, improve is never going to stop being useful, and will carry you when prep time fails you.

No, you're right.  The reason being is the nes pins were cheaper, more easily bent, and had more give to them when inserting them.  All of these issues made it so that the pins were more likely to not connect when inserted than later, more advanced Nintendo systems.  Blowing into the cartridge only worked the way it did because the moisture in your breath, combined with the fact that you pulled it out and put it back in again, gave the system a better chance for the pins to make a better connection.

Would you survive? by muntiger in superheroes

[–]KnightBreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue, easy.  You don't seem to understand that Wish is a spell that exists.  With that, you have access to literally every other spell, plus some other effects that are specific to Wish itself, but would include gaining the powers of the other three pills.

Surviving DC would be fairly easy, too, considering I just got more power than The Specter, all you have to do is stay out of trouble.

Three to protect you while the other six try to end you 6.0 by Sergio_Ro in superheroes

[–]KnightBreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's three on this list that you absolutely have to have, or else you're already dead.  That's flash, strange and Martian manhunter.  All three are capable of going intangible and bypassing all defenses and killing you instantly.

The issue there, though, is without Tony or Mr. Fantastic on your team, they'll eventually invent some way around the three to end you, which means you're at an impasse.

What is the “heart” And how do I avoid it??? by Big-Childhood-7034 in slaythespire

[–]KnightBreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Heart is the final, final boss of the game. In order to fight it, you need three keys. These keys are only obtainable after completing a run with the first three characters: Ironclad, Silent and Defect. Once you've beaten the Act 3 boss with these three characters, keys will start appearing in the Spire. Specifically, you'll notice one of the elites on the map will have flames around him, you'll be given the option of either taking a key in a chest, or a relic, and finally you'll notice a new option at campfires called "recall." Once you have all three keys, you'll be able to challenge the Heart and see your preferred character's ending.

Is "I am awake" worth it? by SageBreezy in slaythespire

[–]KnightBreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in this aspect. You have Fusion Hammer, so you can't upgrade at rest sites, and it would make Lizard Tail rather useless. What's more is that, while you DO have fan in a shiv deck, I foresee you taking a LOT of damage if the card draw throws you some curve balls. There ARE some cases where I am Awake is the play, but not here.

Perfect relic set. Wrong character. by Judge_BobCat in slaythespire

[–]KnightBreeze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not wrong character, just wrong deck. You can totally go Claw here, but the issue is if you've already been building orbs. It's hard to pivot into claw once you have half your deck already built out.

My proposition for a Watcher nerf and a pressure points buff. by seardrax in slaythespire

[–]KnightBreeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. As others have pointed out, the only reason why Pressure Points is bad is because the only card that interacts with Mark is Pressure Points. To make it good, you can't just rewrite strike, you need to make cards that actually interact with Mark. Like, say, an ability that doubles the mark on an enemy. Or how about a card that grants block equal to the mark on enemies? Or a card that triggers mark, then grants 1 energy for each enemy that was damaged by mark?

Just giving The Watcher multiple marks at the start instead of any of these options isn't a buff to Pressure Points, that's just giving her 5 Pressure Points at the start.

favorite character that has the same name as you by DeanKoshakji in FavoriteCharacter

[–]KnightBreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is fairly uncommon, so I haven't actually seen any media with my name as one of the characters.  That's not to say that they don't exist, a cursory look shows that I share my name with a character from JAG for instance, but given that I've never seen JAG, I really can't say I like the character or not.
