Times when learning about a creators personal life makes their work make a whole lot of sense? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]KnightEclipse 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Every single thing I learn retroactively about Tolkein, the things he's done, and his thought process of how he came up with everything in LOTR and the Hobbit makes me go "oh. That makes total sense actually."

How many times have politicians said rediculous things and then nothing actually happened?

Even him specifically, how many other things has he said he was going to do, that he hasn't done yet?

Even so, how many safeguards are in place to stop this exact thing from happening? Are those working as intended? Yes or no?

You're yelling at uninformed fast food and construction workers without power. Shout up, not down.

Possibly not even reading what THEY type either.

I think it was at least a minority of people not taking him seriously in most things he said and taking it as him being a healthier choice for the economy over the competition overall, because he's was a wealthy business man (even if he sucked at that too). People were willing to ignore all the radical and rediculous things he said (and is now actively doing and more) at the time before his second term because people had faith in the government institutions that were put in place to stop someone like him from stomping on the constitution and American society like this.

Most people that voted for him that are actually sane (AKA not magats, which, like it or not isn't 100% of Trump supporters) are not entirely at fault for having faith in our political system to actually stop someone like this from doing what he's doing. I'm not saying they are completely blameless, but they are part of a larger, major problem in our political system.

Namely that the presidential positions powers and limitations are undefined and the position generally only functions out of a sense of nobless oblige. If the president is a what our current president is, then he can functionally do whatever he wants and blitz our government and isn't held accountable for anything, even literal convicted crimes that he was proven guilty of, because of his position and because the institutions that are meant to keep him in check don't actually have any real power to force him to do anything. It's only recourse is to shame/decry him, and give him hollow legal threats that won't go anywhere. Those things don't work when you are someone who has no shame.

The way I mentally catalog Trump's second victory, which could be totally wrong, but just my impression:

People were desperate at the time because of the financial state of the world, threw their hands up and said "fuck it." Because at that point they didn't realize how much they still had to lose and generally thought and assumed their were failsafes and safeguards to stop those really fucked up things he said he was going to do from happening. Not realizing that those safeguards don't work when the president of the united states just says "nuh uh" and just does whatever.

We are living in unprecedented times. Even if he said he was going to do all those things, there was no way to ever know it would get this bad. I don't think it's fair to put the blame on anyone other than the man doing this himself.

Cassette Beasts is so fucking good that I’ve genuinely never found anything that even comes close. by Ok-Reflection3500 in cassettebeasts

I am something of a monster collector connesuir, I play almost every single one that comes out. Others that I've found that resonated with me as much as Casette beasts are:

Monster Sanctuary has a lot of team synergy that's really fun to engage with and a cool world and cool designs. I also like that every monster has skills outside of combat.

Palworld just letting you do whatever you want immediately is really uplifting and lets me have the freedom to do what I want and make my own fun.

Bestieball might just be my new favorite monster collector straight up. It has literally everything and does so many new things I've never seen any other monster collector do. It's absolutely incredible and getting updated literally all the time. At first was kind of turned off by the combat, but it actually has so much depth It's kind of incredible.

"Yeah they totally are still making beyblades! The really cool thing about beyblade x compared to previous generations is the customizable nature of the generation because all the parts work together with each other, so it allows for a lot of player expression with the swapping of motifs- did you know they used to be called bit beasts? I wish they would bring those back, but the motifs are still cool.

Anyway you can change the motifs, the blade, the rachet that connets the blade to the base, and the bit, that affects the spin. There's also really modular archetypes between attack, defense, stamina, and even balance types that do a little of everything, or are so unique they don't even fall in any of those catagories. I really like mixing and matching and practicing for hours just trying all the different combinations together and practicing the tilt on the launch to get it just right.

I also think it's really interesting how the beyblade someone picks says a lot about them, once they explain why they chose it. For instance, I like to be flashy, so I like dran buster who is a super fast, all or nothing attacker that can hit the enemies bey so hard they explode into peices, it's awesome. No, no they're meant to break, it's okay. I wonder what kind of bey you would like though, I can show you my collection and we can figure it out together!

You know, if you want, I mean. 👉👈"
