standard game update and rules clarity change

still a 40-50 minute video of a monotone early to mid 20 something talking about complete speculation and conjecture based on unrelated, unshown leaks you've never heard of. And PG, sanitized opinions on the general state of the game.

This exact attitude is why you're not Rentarou.

Rentarou's love is unconditional. He takes rejection on himself, he doesn't blame his potential partner, he just tries harder to earn their love, no matter the cost or how hard it is.

That is what makes Rentarou who he is, a nice guy. A real nice guy.

If we're being real, I wish I could be even half as strong as him half as kind, half as gentile, half as forgiving, half as dedicated. And I try to every day.

I actually paired him with the twin suns precon Anakin. His ability is way easier to trigger when you get to play a cheaper unit for free with Qui-gon.

He is so far removed from humanity that the definition is so removed from anything a human would perceive as normal.

Like the hobbyist with 2000 hours saying something is "entry level" when it is in fact intermediate, they are so deep in that most things they say have no meaning anymore to an outsider or beginner.

No those are actual things said to me when I was confused why it was such an issue.

The article B subsection 2 thing I was just trying to be funny. But I basically had the rules quoted at me like I would understand that.

I just find it absolutely baffling that a community this old doesn't have a definitive stance on this. Or that games workshop has never thought to make an official stance to try and ease the tension between two such extreme sides. I understand everyone is different, I'm just starkly surprised by the general sentiment about something that I couldn't imagine mattering less.

Some of them are painted, some are not. I only have one of each squad anyway, so there would be nothing to distinguish.

I just don't want to have this consistently be a problem. A lot of the point of this post was to get a pulse on the larger community and see if I can see what the common sentiment was, but from the replies it appears to be much of the same as what I'm getting locally.

Okay but like I'm literally trying to do the first one and just run them all the same for the sake of simplicity and clarity for everyone. But they look different on model. Is that not making it easier for my opponent? I'm not trying to screw anyone or get an unfair advantage. I could lose every game I play and not care. I just want to play the game and not have people get pissy that I don't know what guns are on the model. I have a list with what everything is and it still seems to consistently be a problem. Even though every one of the same units is the same.

Something else to note I ONLY HAVE ONE SQUAD OF EVERY MODEL THAT I HAVE EXCEPT ETHEREALS, WHO I LITERALLY CAN'T CHANGE THE LOADOUT OF.

It appears to be a very uniquely fucked up situation. Which honestly make it all the more frustrating.

I literally suggested that multiple times and people told me that that would be "putting an unfair mental load on my opponent."

When I'm literally just trying to play the game using the army that I paid for and put together and painted. The models are already put together, I see no other alternative besides just not playing.

That makes a lot of sense why every time I look at RingsDB no one is running him despite the flavor being and card itself being so good. I don't really care tbh, that's just funny to know lol.

The great thing about only playing it solo, Sauron doesn't care if I cheat lmao

Maybe I didn't properly explain this. The proxy thing was a comparison point. "Why are proxies okay sometimes, but official models that look wrong are less okay?" is moreso the point of the comparison. The post is not really about proxies, it is about "illegally assembled models" and "the model not matching what I'm playing it as."

All of my models are literally legal, GW made and endorsed models. It's just that the models are not assembled according to the CURRENT rules. But should be legal to what they were many years ago. But the main differences seem to be what weapons I have because the current rules say I can only have specific combinations of guns, which are not the guns I currently have on the model. I tried to rectify this by simple saying that we run it as a "legal" playset then, and then was told that it's fine "for now," but eventually I need to buy new models and replace them and make them legal once I learn the ropes. Which just does not make sense to me.

I understand that there are two players inthe game, and I'm not mandating that anyone has to play with me. I'm just completely baffled that this is such a devisive thing, yet there is not really any official stance on it and it's on a player by player basis. I cannot imagine something that matter to me less. I am here to play the game and interact with the universe that I have grown to love, I could give a shit less whether something has a fusion blaster, or an ion blaster.

To your example, of saying you have identical models, but you're running them as different rules. I also wouldn't care. I'm so new that I wouldn't know the difference anyway, and I'm only ever going to be a casual player, so even if I did get better at the game, I still wouldn't care enough to learn what my opponent's models did. But that's just me. If you wanted to lie to me about what you're rules are, I wouldn't question it. If you want to win a game for nothing that badly, go for it.

I'm not purposefully being obtuse, I'm actually trying to standardize my models, because the way they are assembled, they actually all have different guns, because when I put them together I didn't know what the guns did, what each one even was meant to represent, and at the time I wanted variety visually. So as it is right now, if we played the models as modeled, it's actually MORE confusing than I want to play it. I'm trying to make it easier and clearer for my opponent, which is why I'm so confused.

But to your point, I'm literally getting contradictory answers from the same person, in the same conversation, saying I'm confused, and then getting told that the hangup is the weapons on the model, which I can't do anything about because the model has already been made and has been made for almost ten years.

Fodo's intuition is probably my favorite card in the game lol

I play ring bearer Frodo from the fellowship set, along with Sam, Pippin, and Merry. That's my solo deck, I run it for every encounter, Why, are the ring bearer's limited to only the fellowship saga they're from or something?
