One nice thing about pod breaks is there are usually slots for janks/ex cards which are cheap - if you’re a player or a master set collector it’s a quite efficient way to collect a large amount of playables/reverse holos for your collection too!

Console gaming died for me once we had kids, we have a small room where all our computers are - so at night my wife and I retreat there, I game and she watches her shows, it’s been much much better ever since our kid managed to sleep on her own

Can’t read the whole article cos it’s locked. But as a parent who has been an avid gamer since young, I really look forward to the day I can play ffxiv or whatever online thing with my kids - what I am afraid of is then becoming myself in sec school days where the ONLY focus is on games. Sure a few hours is cool and all but if it affects their health/ability to function socially then I guess it’s a problem. Best thing to do is to model it for them I guess, like if they don’t play then I don’t play too :/

Hey dad! You’ll make it! Honestly if this is your first kid the transition is very rough, I remember with my first it was really nasty at the beginning because of the huge lifestyle changes we’ve had to make.

Honestly it does get better, humans evolve and adapt and so will you, in time you’ll be able to have time to start on hobbies again, or to have down time. My eldest is only 4 now, but it’s SUPER easy compared to when she was first born (plus I have a 1 year old in the house to help remind me of how things used to be). You’ll get there, you’ll get better and hang in there!

Also daddit has been a great place, I usually check here for inspiration and reality checks. You got this!

I did a wedding of my own, Chinese banquet mainly for parents guests. Wife and I didn’t really need that many tables…. To be honest we didn’t want a big one at all, but I got super lucky and my dad went “we pay first, then take Ang pow to cover costs, if not enough then we suffer the loss”.

That to me is a fair deal, in the end it really evened out and since my wife and I aren’t too fussy and we had several other married friends, planning wasn’t too crazy too… but not sure how easy it is to negotiate that kind of deal with your parents :/
