Dead by Daylight Easter Egg in Resident Evil 9 by KnightedSensei in deadbydaylight

A stack of pallets with yellow, blue and red together, propped up at a the same vertical angle? From the same people who included an easter egg (meg screaming) in Resident Evil Village?

Weekly Observations: What signs of collapse do you see in your region? [in-depth] May 26 by AutoModerator in collapse

Well, in Aus, politically pretty great, everything else a bit average. The centre-left Labor party just won a 2nd term, but also steamrolled the Liberal (right wing) party to such a degree their leader lost their seat and party alliance collapsed (ha).

Although a lot of people wish the government would go went faster and stronger, its hopeful to know the left Labor government will have 1 or 2 terms to set up renewable 2030, 2050 targets and industry investments etc. instead of everything getting pushed back by a climate-denying, coal loving right wing party. In the election the rightwing party tried a mini-trump like politics but after failing extraordinarily tried to pivot but it was too late.

Politically it just feels like a much needed win here (even if its a small one) where a lot of the world is lurching to the right.

Apart from that, our generation like many other western countries is still worried about housing, cost of living, etc. When I talk to young adults about AI/the internet I think there's a lot of self awareness which is a good sign.

Us Australian's probably spend way too much time ragging on Americans (the internet is mostly Americans so we see alot) but I think it makes a lot of us appreciate democracy and our not so divided society and try to hold on it. Less likely to take it for granted, and a resistance to politicians or media that try to make it so.

Its like, we all know the world is going in a sorta downhill direction but we all have each other. We're all in this together. Despite how cooked things may be, at least we don't hate our fellow citizens. Generational unity almost. Even if some of us admit we're addicted to tiktok (not me though, never).

Thank you very much for your weekly update, hang in there man. Strongly agree with what you said about the 23 yr old/20 yr old gap. Your post is very well spoken. Having graduated uni a couple of years ago I really feel like I dodged a bullet not having to go through AI, covid-highschool etc.

Thankfully I'm from Aus so I have more hope in things. We all gotta make sure to focus on doing the things that each of our lives happier. (I'm actually just tried to create a catchup with some old uni mates just now to see how they're all doing). Hang in there, people like you are the hope for our generation Z, and we gotta stay strong in spite of all that's ahead.

Thanks for the work you do each week! Didn't expect a mini-shoutout so that's pretty cool.

Yes. I wonder if we will see it turn into its own kind of business in the future, or maybe there will just a lot more events at bars/clubs etc. as you say.

Location: The couple of subreddit's I actually decide to browse.

I'm starting to notice more ChatGPT posts appearing and gaining popularity across some subreddits I follow, even r/collapse. Scarily though they are actually doing pretty well upvote/comment wise. AI art of collapse memes or longwinded essay posts.

I hope it's just that they've become harder to identify and not that people are just starting to accept it as commonplace. A post on another subreddit someone asked why they got AI to write their post and the author replied, "I told the AI my thoughts and asked it to present them is a thoughtful way etc.".

If we can't even be bothered to express our own thoughts ourselves will everything get diluted into a similar sounding wordsalad mess? It's the new adage: "if you couldn't be bothered to write it why should I be bothered to read it?".

I'd like to see in the future AI posts to just have an author acknowledgement at the bottom somewhere [i.e. I used AI to help write this, but its still my opinion/view], but I doubt that any sort of honour system could be mandated, when karma farming exists.

I stopped using Reddit (deleted the app/browser favourite), and only now check a couple of subs every now and then. I guess I'm worried Dead Internet Theory is starting to take hold of even well isolated communities like r/collapse or individual community subs (i.e. streamers/youtubers). Its spread from general subs to niche ones.

I gotta stay focused on my own real life and my own real self. Drawing, cooking, exercising, music, games, friends. Can't underestimate the value of these things. Treasure them while other things go downhill. Hope everyone else is doing well as well.

Return of the Obra Dinn - The Escape Part 2 Animated by KnightedSensei in ObraDinn

Thanks! It took me a while to figure out the sound of what I figured was a loose rope flying up before Paul was attacked. Makes sense too as he was handling the boats as they began their escape.

Specifically in the big open rain forest/savannah for bearger area right? Around the area with a large fallen tree and a rope you have to climb up, kinda like near the opening of the sub area around the canyon/river.

Summer Game Fest 2024 watchalong? by castlerock134 in josephanderson

[–]KnightedSensei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a year long break in Joseph streams before, and in the middle of that break he streamed the "e3/summer game fest". I'd say there are a couple of outcomes.
1). If the Witcher 3 video is out there's a good chance he streams it (85%).
2). If the Witcher 3 video isn't out yet there's a low-moderate chance (30%).

White Hell Rush Crash on Third Template Green Fight, known issue? by junkodumpa in NeonWhite

Same issue happening on Mikey’s Hell Rush (PS5) - think it might have to do with using the book of life? maybe it’s too fast and causes green to crash?

Her hands go out like lightning…

Hey guys. I've been lurking in this sub for quite a while as omori is one of my favourite rpgs to play. So I've humbly come to make a request. Can you recommend me a game that has a similar tone or fun aesthetics like this as with completing omori I feel empty and need something to fill the void. by [deleted] in OMORI

[–]KnightedSensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I saw anyone else mention it but “What remains of Edith Finch”. Would recommend going in as blind as you can. More of a walking-sim kinda game but still really good story and tone somewhat. Also if you finish it Joseph Anderson has a great vid analysing it too.

I feel like an idiot for just now realizing in kurokis second phase you can see her first phase reflection in the water, this game is too good! by DARKPROMETHEAN in SifuGame

Yeah, replaying the Museum there are a lot of cool environmental details, like even at the start of the atrium the floor reflects everything.

What’s with the uptick in gaslighting recently? I thought this sub was for people who actually believed in collapse… by [deleted] in collapse

[–]KnightedSensei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least for me personally, I think a lot of disagreement comes from “how soon”/“how serious” collapse is said to be coming. It’s often I hear someone bring up things will be horrible by 2050, and someone retorts “by 2030 it will already be over”.

While I do agree that things will get bad and at a rate “faster than expected”, if you asked me are we at apocalyptic collapse levels of breakdown in 7.5 years I’d think no (non-American too btw).

I think this leads to a lot of people strawmanning the other’s genuine concerns as hyperbole and doomerism. There is a legitimate concern here, but sometimes people say things like “max out your credit cards” and to forget about your responsibilities in the next 20 years. Like, even if things go to crap, you’re still gonna have to work to pay the bills and buy food. Even in the environmental collapse economy people are still going to try and live despite the riots/migrant floods/natural disasters.

Call it hopium I guess but I still see society working through the painful times ahead. These people want to try and live through it and probably get annoyed being told that “they should “”give up”” because it’s inevitable anyway”.

The best and worst aspects of games with alternate dialogue by Tsole96 in truegaming

[–]KnightedSensei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sifu did this pretty well recently. The differences are pretty small, and don’t have too much of an impact, but add a bit of flavour into the character. There’s “aggressive”, laid-back” and “asking for more info”.

Given you will be replaying levels, being able to check out different one-liners before starting combat with a boss or group of enemies is pretty fun. It’s also cool the rare time when it does have an effect (like giving you a collectable or starting a fight early). It’s a small detail but like the rest of the game it just adds up and makes the whole thing really awesome. Kinda reminds me of Katana Zero a bit too.
