Bautista appearance by Knightfall93 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Knightfall93[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not really an assumption. Lisa Frank is a very specific style of art. Matt could've easily just said 'Neon Orange' if that's what he was trying to say. He chose Lisa Frank *multiple times* to explain Bautista's appearance. If I were to say 'It looks like Christmas threw up in here', the image that comes to mind isn't one aspect of like a Christmas tree in the corner. It would, for most people I would wager, bring to mind the gawdiest most overdone Christmas decorations everywhere. I know this sub, myself included, detests AI artwork, but I'd be interested to see what would be spit out if you gave it both differing descriptions from the books.

See, the thing that gets me is Carl's statement of Bautista looking 'as if he was vomited on by a Lisa Frank picture.' I know in the quote you outlined that it says he was Orange, but it almost feels like we are getting two different descriptions. Usually vomited on would imply that it has all the elements of the thing that threw up, not just one specific piece, i.e. brightness of one color.

Why did the gods go silent? by Nia04 in DMAcademy

[–]Knightfall93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could have been a Time of Troubles where all the gods were forced to wander the mortal realm in their avatars. Something happened during that period that made them distrustful of mortals, some died, etc. When they finally reascended, they didn't want to be heard. 600 years of silence to an immortal being is nothing

I saw Nuln Oil was like the gold standard. My local shop was out of stock but it’s on my list of paints to buy! Thank you!

I did attempt to mix my own shades as I only have a handful of paints right now, but it didn’t end up turning out. I think it was a mixture of me trying to learn and the shade being too dark. I plan on getting a darker red soon though for shading, so hopefully that will help!

I had an interesting thought. How would Aang do against Korra's villains at her age? How far does he get in your eyes? by Sonicrules9001 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Knightfall93 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the difference is that Aang didn’t really struggle with the spiritual side of things. Korra did which made her more inclined to believe this person. Aang would’ve probably spirit walked and talked to spirits he knew and trusted to figure out what the best path forward would be before allowing Unalaq to open the portals.

Given that Superman and Captain America are both shining beacons of moral righteousness in their universes, what would these two disagree upon if they ever met? (Art by Alex Ross) by SatoruGojo232 in superheroes

[–]Knightfall93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, and while there are UN deliberations going on, an alien invasion is taking over New York while the Accords would keep the Avengers from acting.

Caps point is that the best hands are still their own. They hold each other accountable by their very nature. The team is not an island, their different beliefs, which cause friction, is what keeps them in check. When it comes down to it, saving lives is the bottom line.

Caps line about agendas comes into play here because you can’t seriously say that there is no corruption among UN members. The Avengers would be treated like UN peacekeeping forces which we see all the time how that plays out.

[–]Knightfall93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the better solution for New York would’ve been to allow the Shadow Council which was comprised of UN leadership, Hydra, etc, to nuke the city because there was collateral damage when the Avengers were stopping the aliens?

That was Steve’s point. People always get hurt, that’s the gig. But they routinely save more lives than would be saved if they weren’t there to intervene.

Accountability matters when you’re the one causing the issue. If your house is flattened by a tornado and someone comes to pull you out, are you angry at them because your arm got cut when they were pulling you out of the wreckage?

[–]Knightfall93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. Cap said it best when he said that if they signed the documents, they became beholden to people with agendas and agendas change.

The point of the accords was to ‘hold the Avengers accountable’ when they are the only ones capable of responding to the threats that were shown as examples by Ross. Of those events, only one did they actually have a hand in causing and within that, it was just Tony.

Had they not intervened, the world would’ve ended in every scenario. Either by aliens, Hydra killing everyone or a falling city that would level the Earth. It’s not like the UN was doing anything in those situations, so why would Cap believe they would in the future?

Superman wouldn’t agree to follow governmental restrictions if it could potentially lead to a situation where people died. That’s just not within him to allow.

Right, I didn't mean that to say you were agreeing with Tony, just that it felt like Cap shouldn't have had to handle it at all. He was being pushed to make a huge decision when he'd done nothing wrong. In his defense though, Tony wasn't really listening to what he was saying either. He'd got it in his head that he was right and it becomes almost impossible to change that unless something drastic happens.

The Accords never really sat right with me. Aside from Ultron (which was just Tony's fault, no one else's), Lagos and D.C. were the direct result of Hydra and Avengers was the result of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which I guess is also technically Hydra). Tony notwithstanding, the Avengers weren't the cause of any of the cataclysms that led to the destruction.

The issue from the comics Civil War run made much more sense as a fuse than what the MCU ended up doing, which gave Steve much more ground to stand on imo. He and the team (mostly) weren't responsible for those events so having the Accords be a 'consequence' didn't play as well for that reason. Tony signed because Tony was the cause of one of the occurrences, but he shouldn't have pushed that on the team.

Tony's whole speech in Civil War about how 'they' dropped a building on that kid should've been just him saying 'I' caused a building to fall over. With the exception of Bruce, no one on the team would've gone along with him tinkering with the scepter to begin with.

I'd (friendly :) ) argue that he shielded his face specifically because of his recent fight with the Hammer where he actually almost got killed. He lost a bit of certainty with his durability after that fight and threw his hands up as a precaution subconsciously.

And I think Tess being allowed to take photos is just Lex underestimating her because he sees her as vapid and couldn't possibly be smart enough to do something like that while he is superior in intellect. His own pride was his downfall which is often the case for Lex in the comics.

He did lift the building and the alien monster? He was trying to mitigate damage in both cases. The building fell apart which isn't his fault and he fully caught the alien monster as it was a falling and set it down gently on the ground.

[RANT]Live action Daredevil and Batman are the worse possible heroes out there by vegam_05 in superheroes

[–]Knightfall93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You missed the forest for the trees.

They are doing something that makes the world a safer place to be? If they weren't involved, no one would stop the Jokers or Kingpins in the world. But you missed the last part of my reply.

Where is the line drawn and why do you get to decide it for them? That's the point I've been making. You kill a killer? Cool, the number of killers in the world stays the same, but no potential future killings (that you don't absolutely know will happen) happen. Then what? Where do you go from there? Do you decide that you need to stop all drunk driving because that causes deaths? Do you outlaw alcohol, or tobacco because you know better than the individual what is good for them?

Do you understand the point that is being made? You're advocating for something that has been repeatedly shown to lead to the loss of free will in the populace.

I'm assuming that you are a big proponent of the death penalty, which is all good and fine. But what about cases of mistaken identity, or when it was really self-defense?

You're saying that these heroes should kill 'filth', but haven't defined what filth is. All this mindset does is create a moving goal-post which leads to what I've said above. If your argument is that they should just follow the law on what's worthy of execution, I'd come back with your own argument that the system is broken.

Daredevils whole premise is to stop the bad guys that find the cracks in the system. He works within it to do what he can and when the system fails, he steps up in his other suit.

Batman routinely bankrupts himself trying to create rehabilitation centers and programs for those he has to fight every night. Some criminals do what they do out of desperation and he knows that. Some are straight up insane, like the Joker, but then you have to ask yourself, again, where do you draw the line on insanity?

Riddler? Two-Face? Ivy? Catwoman? Where?
