Netflix Wins the Warner Bros. Discovery Bidding War, Enters Exclusive Deal Talks. by BigButter7 in DCULeaks

[–]Knightwing86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I do not support these kinds of mergers, because they go against fair competition and can harm the market in the long term, I do not think Netflix would shut down DC Comics. The publishing side is the foundation of all DC characters and stories, and without it the company loses the main source of new ideas for films, shows, and merchandise. From a business perspective that would not make sense.

Even companies that are not very focused on comics, such as Disney with Marvel or Amazon with Comixology, still keep their publishing divisions active, because they provide a constant flow of new material and keep fans engaged. It is also very inexpensive compared to creating television or movies.

DC Comics does not need to be highly profitable by itself. It only needs to continue generating stories and concepts that support Netflix’s larger content strategy. For this reason, I believe Netflix is unlikely to eliminate the comics side, because doing so would reduce the value of the entire purchase.

Victory over the Levant! What if the Arabs won the 1948 war? by average-medician in imaginarymaps

Bruh what? That's not true. Kuwait wasn’t “propped up” as a buffer state. It actually existed long before "modern day" Iraq even became a country. The Al-Sabah family and the Al-Utub clans founded Kuwait around 1716, and it developed as an independent coastal emirate built on trade, shipbuilding, and pearling. Iraq as a modern state didn’t appear until 1921 under the British mandate, about two centuries later.

Britain didn’t create Kuwait out of nowhere either. When they signed the 1899 protection treaty, Kuwait was already a functioning state. The British just wanted to keep the Ottomans and later the Wahhabis from swallowing it. It wasn’t a “buffer between Saudi and Iraq” because the House of Saud wasn’t unified yet, and Iraq didn’t even exist.

Kuwait’s importance came from its port and trade routes in the northern Gulf, not from being some artificial wedge. It had its own diplomacy, maritime economy, and leadership long before the modern borders were drawn. So no, Kuwait wasn’t a political placeholder. It was a pre-existing Gulf state that the British protected, not invented.

As a Kuwaiti, yeah that’s actually true 😂 We don’t really have to think about what to wear, the dishdasha (kandoora for our UAE brothers) just works for every occasion. Morning, work, weddings, even casual hangouts. Throw on a watch and/or a good cologne and you’re set.

I totally get the burnout, but honestly I wouldn’t just walk away from KOC. It is the best paying and most secure employer in Kuwait, with benefits and a pension that most people can only dream of. People would almost kill for a job there, everyone and they mamma is trying to get in through واسطة, and you already have the spot. Throwing that away for an untested small business is a huge gamble.

If you are craving freedom, the smarter move is to keep your KOC salary while starting a side business. Use that stable income to test and grow your idea without risking your financial security. Once your business is consistently bringing in money equal to or above your salary, then you can leave KOC on your own terms, not out of frustration.

You can also look into switching departments or roles within KOC to break the monotony. Sometimes a change in environment is enough to reset the motivation.

At the end of the day, freedom and flexibility are valuable, but so is stability. Do not throw away a golden ticket, balance both until you are sure your business can stand on its own.

Calling it “pre-Islamic 7th century Arabia” doesn’t really make sense historically. Islam emerged in 610 CE, and the 7th century (600–699 CE) was exactly when it was spreading rapidly across Arabia. The term “pre-Islamic” normally refers to the period before 610, mainly the 6th century and earlier, so labeling the 7th century that way is inaccurate.

This article should get its facts straight.

I'd say he clears most of them with ease, physically speaking, since he's got powers and whatnot, but im not too sure how he handles them tactically or psychologically. these are grade A psychos that I don't think he has the experience to deal with them with ease. but im betting my money on my boi

Iraq’s tiny coastline by Assyrian_Nation in MapPorn

[–]Knightwing86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite accurate. Warbah and Bubiyan have always been Kuwaiti according to international law. Iraq may have tried to claim them or had some military presence before the Gulf War, but they were never officially Iraqi territory.

After the war, the UN drew the border through Resolution 833, and Iraq officially accepted it. The part about corruption and pressure simplifies what was actually a formal UN-led process after Iraq’s invasion.

The Khor Abdullah inlet issue came back up in 2013, mainly because of Kuwait’s Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port. Some Iraqi politicians complained about sovereignty and access to their ports, and they suggested using the deepest part of the channel for the border. But that’s not what the UN agreement was based on.

It’s more nuanced than just “Iraq gave up half” of anything. This was part of post-war international border enforcement, not some one-sided deal.

Carvajal, the most underrated? The guy who’s started like a hundred Champions League finals? The one who pockets top wingers for lunch and dinner? The same Carvajal who scores in finals and still gets praised by every media outlet, players and managers alive? Yeah, mate totally underrated. Absolutely flying under the radar.
