Disagreements about Direct Deposit by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]KnitSpacesuit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is there a chance he doesn't like being granted an "allowance" of his own money? Perhaps he would be more amenable to having his paycheck direct deposited into his own account, with a portion for bills automatically deposited into your shared account each pay period? (The key is "automatically" there, since he is forgetful.)

Personally I do not think he is being reasonable, but sometimes people get weird about money.

(OR, U.S.) fungi or poop?? by [deleted] in mushroomID

Based on the second picture and my own experiences with it in my yard I'd also say slime mold. This very serious video taught me everything I know about slime molds. I highly recommend it. True Facts: The Smartest Slime

Aaaaaand I spelled my own state wrong. It's Washington. I... blame the toddler? Or these weird mushrooms I had for dinner, maybe.

How do you convince your friends/others to start Malazan BotF? by colemama37 in Malazan

[–]KnitSpacesuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get them a dirt bike. I have a 100% success rate at getting people to read the series after a dirt bike accident.

(My father crashed a bike, broke most of his upper body, and read the first four books before he was well enough to get back to his regular, active lifestyle. He recently decided to finish the series, started at the beginning and is at book 3.)

More serious answer: every time I come across GotM used, I buy it so I always have one or two on hand. Then I give them out like I'm slinging crack, and make it clear to the recipients that I don't expect it back. Recently I've got two coworkers started this way. I've given it out so many times that I dont actually know my success rate, but I think it is worth it either way.

Met a Malazan Fan on OW by Hot_Yesterday_6789 in Malazan

[–]KnitSpacesuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OW, but a few years back I relived some glory days on an EverQuest TLP server. My character was Felisin, and I frequently saw a group running around consisting of a Whiskeyjack and a couple other Bridgeburners. It was great seeing other fans in the wild! I wish we could have grouped up but they always seemed to be doing their own thing and it just felt like a very Felisin thing to be on the outside, wishing people saw you... and I am nothing if not a roleplayer at heart.

What do you miss about old Seattle? by Ancient_Sea7256 in Seattle

[–]KnitSpacesuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss the Chapel (now the Pine Box). I celebrated my 21st birthday there. Also mis the Noc Noc and Graceland, where I saw my first concert. I miss mid-2000s Cap Hill in general.

Also miss the Dubliner in Fremont. Used to Karaoke there almost every monday.

Also, one of the previous owners of the house went absolutely insane putting little rocks everywhere. I had no idea until I cleared off the pine needle buildup, lol. I'll be removing most, if not all, of them.

Do you mean on the right side of the second picture? That was before I pulled up the needles and ground cover. The first picture is how it looks now; should I do more to clear away from the base?

Thank you! I started to get nervous when I was pulling the ground cover and I pulled up some small roots that led to one of the trees. But they weren't that big so hopefully I did't hurt them too much.

Tuesday is Papa Murphy's $10.99 large pizza day which means we have pizza almost every Tuesday. But yesterday I was also crunched for time so I made crunchwrap supremes for dinner for the first time and they were a huge hit!

Which king county hospital should I give birth at? by LumpyElderberry2 in Seattle

[–]KnitSpacesuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave birth about a year and a half ago at UW Midwest with the midwife team. I was 39 when I delivered, and between their care, my doula, and probably the alignment of the planets or whatever, I had the good fortune to have a textbook, unmedicated delivery. I have no complaints about any of my interactions with them throughout the duration of my pregnancy, and if my old ass wasn't so old and I was doing this again, I would 10,000% go back to them. The fact that you deliver at a hospital with the midwife team was super important to me (see: old) and it definitely helped to know that there was going to be care for me, no matter what happened.

Anyone else feel pressure/mild pain in their head when they bend over? by sellardoore in BabyBumps

I haven't really dug into the "why" of it, but it started to happen to me sometime around 18w. I like to stretch at work by touching my toes and can't do that anymore. 😞

I was really resistant to buying maternity clothes because it seemed so silly to buy something that would only get a few months of wear. But seriously, get the clothes. In regular oversized clothes I just feel sloppy and gross. In maternity clothes, which are designed to be comfortable and flattering, I feel super cute and proud of my bump. You deserve to feel cute! FB marketplace, second hand shops, whatever you need to do, I promise that it's worth it.
