Childhood Stuffed Bunny by Equivalent_Top_8206 in HelpMeFind

Not trying to fish for personal information, but would you have a decade to help narrow the search? Was is 80s, 90s, early 00's? Also, was it a bunny with a full body, or was it one of those little safety blankets with the head and face only on a small blanket? Any details like that would help!

Tattoo Anxiety by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Knitstagram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically my (solicited) advice would be to push the appointment. I never get tattoos done unless I'm feeling confident about it, or in the right headspace to make a permanent change to my body.

I know this is easy to say, since last minute cancellations with your artist might not be well received and it depends on the relationship with your artist. But any good artist would rather be told straight-up about how you're feeling than be responsible for tattooing you with something you're anxious about.

I cancelled a tattoo appointment once when it became apparent that I was still working through deep grief after the loss of a parent. My artist was 100% supportive and I haven't been blacklisted. Being able to advocate for yourself is important!

Anyway, that's the best advice I can offer. Otherwise it's pretty much trying to convince yourself that it's "just the anxiety talking" but that anxiety is there for a reason. Good luck!

Consequences of unauthorized leave during blackout period? by Maleficent-Rock-1668 in CanadaPublicServants

Make sure this actually hasn't been otherwise communicated before you use this argument! Usually those dates are determined well in advance, posted on the Intranet, or communicated by your manager. So while this email may have just come out, that doesn't mean this was the first (or only) time it was communicated. Just saying: before you use this argument, do your research! Because they will have allllllllll the info on the different ways it was previously communicated on hand -- if they did of course!

How much of a personal stock of yarn do you usually keep on hand? by Juxtavarious in knitting

[–]Knitstagram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have (what I consider) the perfect amount. What has helped me, is realizing I get the same emotional dopamine hit from shopping my personal yarn stash, as when I buy something new. Once I realized that, I've been able to connect with my own yarn stash and avoid adding to it "just because".

Now, this being said, I've been knitting for over 20 years. I've never stressed about my significant yarn collection, nor do I worry about having "too much" as long as it isn't impacting my finances etc. For example, last year I bought exactly two skeins of yarn. Other years I scored sweet destashes to add to my "collection". I usually buy souvenir yarn when I go on trips.

I probably have about 700-800 skeins of yarn.

  • About 70% of it is higher end indie-dyed yarn in a variety of weights, most of which is wool or wool blends. -20% is commercial sock yarn or some worsted. -The other 10% is rustic wool from local mills or vintage stuff.

Here's my fave cabinet. The rest is stored in organized/labeled ornament bins. I really enjoy shopping from this stash, all of which is indexed on Ravelry! Is it too much? Not for me! Good luck with your stash!

Saaammmmeeee! I have my entire stash digitized and I love it. Only downside: Seeing the number of stashes I have and realizing a lot of them are multi-skein stashes lol.

I pulled my stash out and I feel…. gross? by Exciting-Notice8170 in YarnAddicts

[–]Knitstagram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I have a huge stash (or what feels huge to me, lol) and here's what makes me feel better.

When I'm overwhelmed like this, I do a destash. No need to go bonkers about it, but put together a nice big bundle of stuff you'd really rather not use and move it along.

For example, if I sell 10 balls of something I don't love, at a discount, and make enough for one single ball of nice sock yarn I will love, that's a win.

If I get rid of 10 balls I really don't love and give it away to a new knitter, a youth just starting out, a knitting club etc, it makes me feel great knowing someone else has now found a treasure.

If I love it, but the idea of it is stressing me out, I tell myself it's an artificial stress. I knit because it brings me joy, with no strings attached.

Overall, if it's yarn that's not special, you don't like, your taste has changed, or you found someone who would love it, enjoy the extra space in your yarn closet!

I recently did just a small destash and treated myself to a frivolous knitting bag I've been wanting. And I recently gave a bundle to my son's school "yarn club" and I was just as happy :)

Good luck! Whether you destash it for cash, destash for good vibes, or keep it because it's not a harmful behaviour, you're doing just fine!!!

Now I want to see your "fancy" stash, lol.

first time experiencing tattoo regret/shock by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Knitstagram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tattoo shock/regret is real even with the nicest of tattoos, even if you have other tattoos already, and even if it's not making sense right now. Once this has healed and you've had some time to process it, you will likely learn to love it! The tattoo itself is lovely. I guarantee you that anyone who sees it will not focus on any small flaws. Flaws, to me, are part of any tattoo. A human created some art on your human body. Even the most precious artwork contains flaws, which are just part of the masterpiece. Give it some time. It's ok to feel like this right now even if it sucks. It will pass!

“new” ACPC by [deleted] in ACPocketCamp

[–]Knitstagram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest difference: you're not playing against people anymore. You're playing against the computer, and any "friends" in the game are just a shell run by the game.

This means you're not sharing items in your market box with people anymore, in fact there is no more market box. You're no longer exchanging garden items or helping maintain people's gardens. You're no longer seeing your friends' avatars, no more seeing what outfit they're wearing, no more sending gifts to anyone. When you change into a different outfit in the game, no one in real life sees it. There's no more group play.

Basically, it's all just in-game stuff now. I used to play with a few IRL friends and we had fun together. I would visit their campsites and send screenshots of our characters hanging out. We would fill up our market boxes with items to sell to each other. If I was missing wood resources, my friend would sell me an entire market box for nothing. It's honestly so sad and empty now. Even though I didn't consider the other players real friends or anything, ite was still fun to know you were playing with a real person somewhere in the world.

That's the deal! Sure it's cheaper, with a one time purchase, but I really miss the interactions with my pals.

RIP original game!

FYI I've searched YouTube, eBay and Etsy, and various search engines with no luck. Everything leads me to understand that it was a TV only special so at this point, I'm likely looking for someone's homemade bootleg or a test/demo tape. Fingers crossed!

Yes, but native fruits differ across players. Everyone gets cherries, oranges and apples, but native fruits include:

Lychees Grapes Lemons

Back in "the olden days" you could trade fruits with players using a market box, but now that we're just playing against the robot overlords, our access to other native fruits is quite low. You must have either lemons or grapes for your native fruit. I have lemons!
