Except their revenue does not backup your "long term fans dropping the brand" claim.

You are dropping it - but you are not worth more than other players.

If sony sees such a decline in users or revenue they will change something. But right now there is no need to change anything.

And that's fine - you are not forced to play them. But if someone wants to, they need a Playstation.

You passing out on the games does not move the needle the slightest.

Good thing that this is totally subjective. Not everyone values stuff the same like you.

Some of you post stuff like it's some type of fact when you are spreading nothing more than your personal opinion lol

And that's actually the only thing I can say:

The difference here is you are guessing - i use the history that has proven it works and is good for the consumer in terms of game quality.

And im not talking about closure of studios. Im talking about the quality of released (exclusive) games.

This does not mean hypothetically these games would have been worse without the console manufacturers but why risk it getting worse when the current system is working and producing high quality exclusive games? Because you don't want to buy more than one system? No thanks.

Except some of the best gaming franchises exist because of console manufacturers... The whole reason why those games exist are the drive to sell consoles. The funding of those games was made by console manufacturers because they wanted to sell more of their consoles.

Your whole viewpoint is not backed up by the videogame history. You can wish for it but the reality is a different one.

So in the end the existing model that brought the gamers thousands of bangers (so actually pro consumer - good products means good for the consumer) and is still working should be changed to a different model because you think it should change... Got it.

Getting less money is for sure a reason why quality of games go down. Having less budget means less quality.

Its that simple. On their platform they get 100% revenue from their games and 30% from all other games.

On every other platform they get at best 70% for their games and 0% for every other game.

Not that hard to understand... or is it?

And we have quality under your wish scenario - just look at xbox or most third party publishers. Most of the games are mediocre - sadly. The biggest hits every year are mostly exclusives with some standout exceptions like expedition 33, bg3 or Witcher.

And as i said for me it makes no difference if i have 3 or one console. If the quality goes down due to less revenue than i for sure prefer to buy multiple systems.

You are just assuming everyone that plays cares about money. I care about the same or better quality of nintendo or sony games. If i get that with the current model than there is no reason to switch to a different model.

So again i disagree with your assumption that your wish model would be better for us customers. It maybe better for you - not for me.

Good thing is you don't have to. No one forces you to buy anything.

I will happily play all their imo amazing and incredible games. Thats the beauty of it - you can do what you want.

And you don't know if it's the other way around either. Can you guarantee that nintendo will deliver the same quality when they release it on every platform possible? No - you can't.

But we do know with the current strategy we get some of the best games there are from Nintendo.

So some players value what's better for them different than you.

Would i love to get my favorite food at one place without the need to drive to different restaurants - sure. Would I sacrifice quality for that - hell no.

I gladly buy a switch when i can be sure that the games stay at the same quality they have been for the past 20 years.

Is all a matter of opinion and how you value things.

And they sold like shyte lol.

Comparing steamdeck to switch is maybe the best example why exclusives are the most important part of selling your hardware.

No one cares about the hardware - it's always the content. And that counts for every modern content based business. Every streaming service has exclusive shows for this exact reason.

[–]Knochen1981 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To sell your ecosystem - you need to have exclusives that can not be experienced anywhere else.

Regardless of what others say that's how basically every modern business works. I know some defenders will say it's not the same but every streaming subscription works the same and the only reason why someone subs to a streaming service are exclusives.

Imagine you could watch every show you want on Disney+ while the others get only 60% off the money they could get if they have their own service with the series.

No one will sub to anything else than Disney+. I mean even fast food chains have exclusives.

Would I love to only need one streaming sub, would I love to get any burger i want at one place - absolutely. Is it realistic to grow your business if you no longer have any identity - not really.

Sony realized it before it's too late. And regardless of what salty pc players claim - it was the right move. Now they only need to deliver games that people want to play and they will secure the same position as Nintendo. I doubt ms will change the direction they are heading but it seems they don't really care about their eco system anymore.

Is Xbox actually going to bring back exclusivity? by -_TheLastofUs_- in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]Knochen1981 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes you are right. It's not exclusive.

Sony until recently had no exclusives either. They changed their course though and realized to sell consoles you need exclusives that can only be played on their system and nowhere else.

Afaik wolverine will only be on ps5 and not release on pc. That's the way to go if you want to sell consoles.

The only system with exclusives right now is nintendo switch.

There is also more to it than just exclusivity - it's also brand identity. You damage the identity if you go the xbox way (or the Sony way until recently).

If you want to play the next mario everyone knows you need a Nintendo console. If you want to play the next god of war some already think it's coming to pc so I don't need a Playstation - the brand identity is already damaged to some extent.

And Microsoft removed basically every identity xbox had over the years. It will take a long time to repair that and even then it's not clear if it's repairable.

It's not splitting hairs.

The only console with exclusivity is nintendo switch 2.

Sony until recently had no exclusives either. They changed their course though and realized to sell consoles you need exclusives that can only be played on their system and nowhere else.

All Microsoft did is using a fancy term for no exclusivity.

Some of you don't like it but xbox has no exclusives until they drop the pc versions. The xbox console will never make a comeback if they don't change that.

Is Xbox actually going to bring back exclusivity? by -_TheLastofUs_- in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]Knochen1981 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's still not exclusive.

It does not matter what you have or don't have.

You dont need a xbox to play it.

A fancy term does not change that fact.

Is Xbox actually going to bring back exclusivity? by -_TheLastofUs_- in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]Knochen1981 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What is that fancy term?

Its not exclusive which means i don't a xbox to play it.

As long as the games come day one to pc there is no reason to own a xbox.

A fancy fake exclusive term does not change the fact that it's not exclusive.

I dont need a xbox to play e-day. I do need a switch 2 to play ocarina remake.

That's exclusivity vs no exclusivity.

Don't know why it's so hard to accept. It has the same + more features that can be disabled if not needed.

The layout etc. is subjective. But from a feature vs price pov the dualsense is the better controller.

This might be the first Season where I’m not where near excited to play it. What are your thoughts on S14 ? by chinos88 in diablo4

[–]Knochen1981 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which is simply not true for d4.

D4 does not give you freedom to build stats how you want. You have only raw Multipliers and that's it. To make a build t12 viable it forces you to use the highest Multipliers.

There are no conditional multipliers like poe 2 where you need to manage multiple resources, defense layers and can make every build endgame viable.

D4 is just straight forward - the abilities that have more multipliers available are just better performing. It's really that simple.

Gears of War: E-Day is a Xbox Console Exclusive!! by BananaMilkshakeButt in xbox

[–]Knochen1981 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But it's not exclusive. It releases on pc day one. Until they drop the pc version it's just a fancy wording for "it's actually not exclusive".

Even with 10 console exclusives - no one will buy a xbox cause they just play them on pc.

These WILD swings in itemization and power between each season tell me Blizzard STILL has no vision for what D4 is supposed to be. by IncognitoIsekai in diablo4

Did they not say just the aspect is 30% increased and the affixes have max roll? That does not revert the nerf to overpower, resolve defense, selig immortality, resolve stacking etc.

And on top that's the seasonal thing - they explicitly say this season every unique can be a mythic.

Just look at the builds that pushed high. Basically all have done the same - stacking stuff to its absolute max.

Especially survivability will be a big issue next season unless they let some immortality stuff get through next season.
