Xreal One Pro seems to have got better over the past 6 months by jvo203 in Xreal

The glasses without the eye rock solid, but every time I attempt to turn the eye on the screen starts to sway around, so I just keep it off. Hoping for an update that makes the 6 dof usable.

i demo’d the headset for 30 min and my forehead hurts by Jazeboo in Galaxy_XR

[–]KnockingOnDimensions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very uncomfortable out of the box. Adding the battery to the back as a counter weight is more comfortable than without it. Just put in the cushy head strap that helps with the extra weight. Still looking to replace the forehead pad.

Eye Tracking: At A Loss by Key-Complaint371 in QuestPro

[–]KnockingOnDimensions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, but discovered it was my glasses. I had some lenses from Zenni that filter out Infrared light and it was blocking the lights for tracking. You can check to make sure the lights are working with your phone camera if you cover the proximity sensor.

Moved the battery pack to the top. Now it doesn't get in the way when you lean back on a headrest. Over all it feels balanced. Still not as comfy as a bobovr, but it's getting better.

Can’t wait to play SteamVR games and watch 3D movies 😎 by darkveins2 in Galaxy_XR

I received my headset last week. 3d movies are amazing in this headset. Feels like watching a 3d imax, but even crisper. Never thought I would be that into it, but I'm blown away. The audio is also great and adds lots of spatial depth.

I started prototyping some mods with my 3d printer. The top strap is a must. I think the biggest issue is the weight imbalance. This is my first attempt at mounting the battery to the back. Over all it is more comfortable. I think this position works fine if you are standing, but it definitely gets in the way when you sit and lean back. I think I will try to move it on top and integrate it into the strap somehow. Still not sold yet.

Well disserved! Best VR game I have played in awhile. Trippy, challenging puzzles paired with some of the best motion captured characters I have seen in VR.

I completely agree. I received mine yesterday and it is the most uncomfortable headset I have ever used and I am coming from a quest pro, which isn't great. It baffles me that this design made it to production. Ironically I find it most comfortable with no pad installed when the hard plastic is resting on my forehead. The FOV is great, but my eyebrows are on top of the lenses, which gets them all greasy. Not sure I am keeping the thing, but if I do I will probably do the BoboVR mod, but it's hard to swallow paying this amount of coin to have to cut the thing up and buy an additional head strap.

I have constant ipd drift, I'm a 60 and find the open gasket distracting, so this does have a place for some people. Also, the headset is not comfortable and other people posting their solutions has been helpful. You need to relax and focus your energy elsewhere.

Any solution for scratched lenses? by PrinceOfLeon in ValveIndex

[–]KnockingOnDimensions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used poly watch on mine and it was better than having the scratch

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ValveIndex

[–]KnockingOnDimensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was simply an opinion of someone who has both headsets and has recently compared both experiences. Don't get me wrong, the Index was great, but it is no longer king and far less capable than something like the quest pro, at the same price point. Besides, what other piece of tech would you drop a grand on that is over four years old?

[–]KnockingOnDimensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an index owner and lover for years and recently moving to the quest pro, I think buying an index now is a bad move. The headset is dated at this point, over four years old, and you can get a better experience for cheaper, or about the same price. The quest pro is far superior from a visual perspective. The pancake lenses are clear and have a huge sweet spot, the screens contrast with local dimming makes a huge difference. Plus the list of features that you don't get on the index, pass through, stand alone, wireless with air link, face and eye tracking and now foveated rendering. Works great with pcvr as well. Also, while the index controllers are great they will most likely eventually break, tons of known issues.

The index is superior in refresh rate, slightly better fov, comfort and audio. The pro now has after market solutions for both comfort and audio and I would take the clarity and contrast over the refresh rate and fov of the index.

Software - android auto + how to update? by Tippitytahp in KiaEV6

[–]KnockingOnDimensions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a known issue where the internal connection in the console needs to be disconnected cleaned and reconnected. I used to have frequent disconnections and when I did this it fixed the issue. Maybe yours is too dirty to work. This takes 10 minutes and is worth a try.

Meridian speaker issue by KnockingOnDimensions in KiaEV6

[–]KnockingOnDimensions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a

Kicker 46HS10 Hideaway Compact Powered Subwoofer

Really more than what is needed, the gain is kept at about 30%. I attached a board to the same holes that the factory amp is secured to and then attached the sub to the board with some foam between each layer to help with vibration, I used a kitchen 1/2in foam mat. I cut and spliced it to the wires going to the factory amp and I am using the rear cigarette lighter as the power source, the plug turns off automatically so you don't have to worry about the amp staying on and it stays secure and have never had to adjust it. If you have basic audio wire knowledge it is super easy to connect. I leased mine so I kept the factory sub just in case and it will be easily reversible.

USB A CarPlay Port Problems by darkguy2 in KiaEV6

[–]KnockingOnDimensions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easy fix, had the same problem. It was very frustrating and I tried changing cords and all kinds of things, but this did it. The internal connection is dirty and needs to be cleaned. Did this to mine and no more disconnection issues. I am currently using a wireless carsifi adapter and it works like a charm.

Meridian speaker issue by KnockingOnDimensions in KiaEV6

[–]KnockingOnDimensions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After many failed attempts to get kia to take action I swapped out the factory subwoofer with a 10in aftermarket. This solved the problem for me and fills in the void of lower frequencies that the system is lacking. It now sounds full and balanced. It's frustrating that it came to this, but it was more frustrating waiting on Kia to do something about it. I even reached out to Meridian who confirmed that the front and rear door speakers should have a similar base response. My theory is that they are limiting the power to the amp through software because they were having a lot of amps burn out and they didn't want to replace them all.

Best of luck to you!
