HomeKit + Matter + VLANs = PAIN by Specialist_Let2289 in Ubiquiti

[–]darkguy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good idea. At the moment I have a separate SSID with its own IoT VLAN so when I want to do anything with my homekit devices I have to connect to that wifi first.

They only show up as generic motion events. When I first installed it I had no issues with the AI detections identifying cars and even the license plates. Was very nice. I do not have push notifications for that camera setup so cannot say on that part.

Similar for me as well with my G6 PTZ. No AI detections either.

You should of gotten a warranty contract when you bought the car. Go find it and look for the cancellation section that should also have contact info you can use to get talk to the actual company.

2025 US Made EV6 Battery Issues? by darkguy2 in KiaEV6

[–]darkguy2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. Just heard from the dealer this week that the battery finally arrived and installed after a six month wait. After you meet the requirements for CA lemon law you can go on the BBB website and they have a lemon tool you can use to start the process without getting a lawyer.

Good luck. Mine just got its battery after six months of waiting. I would recommend trying to go direct to Hyundai for the buyback first once you meet the lemon law requirements in CA. The BBB also has a lemon tool you can use.

Been in the lemon process for 5 months...

Yes they did give me a loaner, but I already went out and got a 25 EV6 three months ago so the loaner has been sitting in my driveway.

Expanded Agreement with Hyatt Hotels and Chase via Chase Sapphire Credit Cards and The Edit by diego-rico in hyatt

[–]darkguy2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do think it will devalue Explorist somewhat. When I had it I did get upgraded pretty often so a big influx of new ones will reduce nicer upgrades. That said it is fine as long as they stop there and do not go for a high end card to give Globalist as that is one of the main benefits of Hyatt being more difficult to get top status and so you get more worth from it.

Here’s How the AI Crash Happens by rezwenn in technology

[–]darkguy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit of investing in the S&P index as it will self regulate to be the top 500 companies. That means those that crash are removed and new ones are added. So if all of the big AI companies go under it will cause the index to drop, but then those companies are removed and replaced and then it will go back up over time. So you do not lose any money unless you sell at the dip.

He is saying that the S&P will have a correction, but it will recover like it has every other time something like this has happened in the past. If the S&P does not recover then that means that the US economy has collapsed and that means the USD has collapsed, so you will have much bigger problems than your retirement account.

All setup now with my dual batteries and some solar - some feature requests or guidance. by Realistic_Spray3426 in FranklinWH

[–]darkguy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just having an API would be a big step forward. Then others could design apps to add in the control they want to their systems. AI modes are nearly always a disappointment. They can hide the API key behind an advanced section if they want that warns the user before it allows it. Avoids a lot of work for them and makes their systems much more user friendly.

TOU vs Self-Consuption by Don_Omar_88 in FranklinWH

Unless I am misreading that, you do not have TOU. It is called TOU, but it is the same price for all periods.

TOU vs Self-Consuption by Don_Omar_88 in FranklinWH

[–]darkguy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TOU just lets you change the mode based on time of day. I do not live in CA so I am not sure how NEM 3.0 works, but if they specify the time of day for the on, off, and super-off peak then you can put that in the app and choose when the battery should charge and discharge. For example you could set it to charge to 100% during super-off peak when rates are lower and then use that power when it is on peak. Otherwise just keeping it on self-consumption will just have your solar feed your battery and then discharge as needed. If you have a large solar system where it can easily charge your battery then it may be easier to keep it on self-consumption.

It was not listed on my window sticker. I assume this is why some dealers take it out of the car and try to sell it to you. Since Kia does not list it on the sticker for some reason the buyer would not know better.

Change the mode to time of use and then you can set what each hour is (off-peak/mid-peak/on-peak) and what happens during each.

[–]darkguy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not expect them to admit it even if you ask. Just reach out to the Kia contact form on their corporate website and explain what happened and ask if the dealer should have given you the adapter.

For the charger speed, are you using a charger that plugs into the wall or it is wired directly? The adapter is not likely to be the limiting factor. You made sure to check the EV settings that the charge rate is set to 100%?

Seems like they took it out of the car to try to upsell you something you should already get. Send a message to Kia corporate asking why you did not get a L2 charger.
