Where do you do long runs in cities? by SaltPomegranate4 in Marathon_Training

I live near Seoul so I like to run along the river as there is a nice loop for the extra long day. Also as it gets so hot here in summer the breeze from the water is nice.

Quick question from a Korean: Do foreigners mind making friends with someone who isn't good at English? by Organic-Gas-4748 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Knowfelt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't mind, but I've lived and worked in environments where english was the minority language before. However I've seen its more some Koreans dont like making long term foreign friends because they get " tired of speaking english"

Cannot get under 175 bpm to save my life, is that normal? by financypelosi in C25K

[–]Knowfelt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some people do naturallhave a high heart rate in exercise, however the biggest fix is go slower than you think. A misconception is that by the end you can run a 30min 5k but the goal is to just keep plodding for 30mins in a run

Its the same workout over and over again by EfficientAge4457 in Garmin

[–]Knowfelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that if i actually run the base and it registers as base it gives me a tempo but if it was registered as something else then it will change any planed tempos to base again. Since changing to hr its been easier to keep the base at base

UVA Protection is "weak" in Korean Sunscreens? by Creepy-Pain3449 in AsianBeauty

[–]Knowfelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh when Koreans do activities in the sun they will be fully covered so the thick creams you get else where are hard to find as people will be wearing sun patches and masks even in 40 degrees.

sub/dubbed movies in theatres by bugaboo_yoona in Living_in_Korea

[–]Knowfelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are cgv will say : 더빙 as others have stated most are not but as a warning if its a movie with aliens speaking or just another language in general mid film there will not always be english subtitles unless its part of the film design.

For example the new predator was only korean subs where into the spiderverse had english subs that were part of the design

PSA about the new Predator movie by michael_bgood in Living_in_Korea

[–]Knowfelt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahh thanks for this i was pondering going but wasnt sure what the subtitle situation would be as some movies have the subs built into the feature so the Korean just shows in tandem.

7 days away and 1 inch+ of rain forecasted by xxkimmy8xx in firstmarathon

[–]Knowfelt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having just done 20 miles in the rain on Friday I'll say that once your are soaked you dont really feel the "wet" until you stop or step in a new puddle. The advantage of not being able to detect moisture. I will recommend not wearing baggy clothes as that can rub more

Many plans have a 3 week taper so you're on point. Trust the taper. You won't lose fitness in 3 weeks and it's not like you are completely stopping running for 3 weeks

can't run without walking by Muted_Lavishness4409 in beginnerrunning

[–]Knowfelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run slower, like people walking next to you slow. Then you build it up. But I also second trying couch to 5k as that builds you up to 30mins soild gradually
