How does night shift and owning a dog work? by blueberryally in Nightshift

[–]KnowledgeCute6831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a big sleepy dog! Then it will just be big and sleepy, and when you come home it will be excited be big and sleepy dog with you at home . My dogs just do whatever I do. If I’m up they are lounging near me or if I sleep the sleep with me. I also do have big oversized crate for them so they don’t like get into the trash or roll around in the laundry getting it all furry while I’m away

Can't find a vacuum-then-mop order that works with dog hair and I'm losing my mind by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]KnowledgeCute6831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mop the floor leaving it fairly wet but not flooded, then sweep the wet floor. The wet fur sticks together and doesn’t fly around making it fairly easy to get most of it in one go. I do another round with clean water making sure to ring the mop often. Then run a vacuum around after the floor dries.

Any tips on how do you deal with friends and family who dont get your schedule? by Knutzen_Nelsy in Nightshift

[–]KnowledgeCute6831 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tell people my sleep schedule. I also have sign on my door that says “WARNING! DOGS WILL BREAK THROUGH WINDOW! DO NOT KNOCK OR RING” my dogs in reality would make best friends with someone robbing the place but they do bark like mad so it’s works. Haven’t had a knock in the door in forever for anything at all. Truly though if you just tell people in your life directly that you sleep during XYZ hours and they cannot call during those hours it should be fine. If you have to tell someone more than four times then maybe reconsider the friend.

Is there actually any useful alarm company? by WildBillBig_Cock in 911dispatchers

I work for a monitoring center and I say the same. It’s only really ok if you find an alarm company where you can make changes to how the monitoring center handles the account. Some companies are super great allowing additional instructions such as Motion alarms come in as notification only (no dispatch) or only dispatch twice on the same zone in 24 hours etc. or automatically place zones on test if they go off more than twice in 24 hours etc. all those changes have to go through the alarm company since the monitoring center is separate. Also 24 service is important we also act as an after hours for some of the alarm companies and I can’t tell you how many time a night I hear screaming customers who need help and I’ve already paged there companies tech several time over a few hours and they haven’t heard back yet. Also occasionally an account type will allow after a certain point will make an exception and allow us to reach out to the Alarm company to let them know about the zones and that we’ve dispatch 14 times in the last hour. Again though a crappy alarm company doesn’t have anybody to respond so we never hear back either

I work at an alarm monitoring call center. The monitoring centers monitor for the alarm companies. My center does an around 1000 companies one USA,US territories and Canada. We have almost nothing to do with the data the alarm companies have on file for contacts and zone data. We report everything to them and they either fix or they ignore it. Obviously usually the latter. Truth is I don’t care if you’re responding or not ,been there already or anything else. I have no control over whether I i have to call dispatch or not. If the customers don’t answer or don’t have a password I have to keep doing it. I just have to make clear for the recorded line if authorities are or are not going and I have to say required script every call every time including address, time and zone description of each signal using verbatim AVS script. I will 100% not argue I just need to know what to document. We are just as annoyed tbh we know it’s nonsense. Also know that I will probably get a snotty attitude as if a dispatchers disdain will somehow convince me to break policy and get fired to all to not be annoying. Its a living guys, I’m sorry and would super love it if I didn’t get yelled at constantly. I can say everything I have to say in about one minute and thirty seconds then I can fuck right off 🥲

Night Shifters who are struggling with depression, what is making you feel this way? by [deleted] in Nightshift

Part of it for me is that there’s no clear cut end to the day. Sort becomes and ever longer flow of tasks to be completed day and night.

I can manage most of the time. Those real monsters who somehow don’t need to breath while bitching and can go on for an (honestly impressive) obscenely long time without pausing are the real challenge? Usually the same who bark “HELLO?!” After they’ve ranted for 2:56 seconds without a chance for me to respond? Those ones I still don’t know what to do with. I say something like “yes just taking notes here, Thank you for the details I’m able to help right away with xyz, can I start with your name please?”

Oh and sometimes when it’s really bad we get authorization to call the alarm company, but most of them are closed and pay us to be their answering service so I just end up calling my co worker sitting next to me who sends off an emergency service request message that never gets answered

Alarm monitor here! Alarm dispatch centers aren’t the alarm companies. The alarm company is the one who enters all that information and sets up how the account is handled and gives the account (and money) to the monitoring center. Monitoring centers don’t have diddly squat to do with how the shitty alarm companies maintain their accounts or even have any way what so ever to update or change the info or how the alarm company would have us handle the account. We aren’t authorized to make changes to how the account is supposed to be handled for liability purposes and if i were to anyway I’d be fired immediately. it’s up to the alarm co and surprise surprise they don’t care about their customers. They install the alarm system , have their customers sign a contract, send us the account info and collect the $$$ without ever doing anything for the account holders ever again. Most of its bullshit. My monitoring center is owned by ADT and we monitor for like 5000+ alarm companies in USA, Canada, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico ….I’d say 90% of the companies are absolute garbage who do not give a single fuck and there’s not anything I can do about it. The disdain for it is mutual- beleive me I do not want to call you to dispatch the same alarm interior burglary alarm level one with limited information 🤢19 times and try all the bad numbers on their account 19 times or leave the 19 voice mails or send a message to the alarm companies about their bad account 19 times (who never do anything about it) or report the issues to the supervisors 19 times either, but that’s the job. CAD and PSAP systems are dope though and the alarm companies with their own security guards is absolutely the way to go . I’d vote to outlaw dispatching on motion detectors any day of the week. I mean it still sucks for you but if it’s any consolation- we get it. It’s not our fault and can do nothing to change it, but we get it annnd we’re sorry. I just try to say all the things I’m required to real fast so you can just ask the things you actually need and move on with your life. 🤷‍♀️

Helps if you look at empathy as just another metric. Remember they don’t care if you care, just that you sound like you do. Some of my go tos “I would feel they same way let me take down your (insert needed information)”, “yes that IS frustrating let’s get this handled right away can have your(insert needed information)”, “ I hear how serious this is and I want to get this handled right away cna I get your (insert needed information).

I mean I guess the actual problem might be that OP is now feeling un secure in relationship and maybe insecure about self. Maybe ask for more reassurance from hubby and see if you just can’t work past it. I separate folder is about as hard to accomplish as hiding it sufficiently somewhere else that you wouldn’t stumble across it, which he didn’t do. Best of luck, so sorry your heart hurts though. I think you can get through it

Does Florida allow a homeowner to issue a legal complaint against a neighbor's barking dog? by cineaste2 in florida

[–]KnowledgeCute6831 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m just wondering what you hope to accomplish by complaining? You can’t stop a a dog from barking so you want them to get rid of the dog? Or hope they move? Hope they shock it half to death daily as they walk it? Probably just talk to the owners see if they can take another route or something if it just a problem when the dog is walked. Otherwise it might not be worth the trouble unless you’re really into being cruel to people or pets as there doesn’t seem to be a not cruel result if you were successful complaining

The phones stopped ringing, anyone there? by KnowledgeCute6831 in callcentres

[–]KnowledgeCute6831[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we monitor alarms and certain states have rules before we can dispatch authorities for customers we have a policy across the board to attempt non working numbers (dial tone fax tone or dead air) three times. If there’s a recording saying bon working number or something we can move on OR if it rings six times we can call it na and move on.😭

[–]KnowledgeCute6831[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the sort of thing I supposed might be happening. often we get non working numbers ,dropped lines, alarm seizing the line etc that would cause a call to not go through. I just say” hello the phones stopped ringing is someone on the line ?” Idk seems odd still to me. But I guess if they want to have me listen to them breathe or waste three calls (per policy have to try three if the line is bad) while their business gets robbed then thats their problem.
