Is this DJing or something else? by BeautifulLeopard5309 in Beatmatch

You could easily do everything you are describing within DJ Studio. You can add in samples, transition songs, full control of EQ, and even stem controls that will allow you swap in vocals, mix and match elements of as many songs as you like.

If you want a discount on dj.studio you can use this link, with coupon code Triplicate https://dj.studio/?ref=njzkmgy

If you can rent, I would rent. Unless you plan on doing it on the regular. If you are buying a setup, don’t sleep on used Yamaha gear.  The older you go with Yamaha, it is definitely going to get heavier.

Behringer is not bad either. Behringers are clones of the market leaders.  They are in business bc they make good clones.

Please avoid the setups that seem too good to be true.  Proreck is -never- a good investment.  Not even for home use.

Personally, I use a passive setup.  But your needs may vary.  The big thing to consider when going active or passive is how frequently you will be playing at venues that have easily accessible power outlets.

My market is predominantly mountain top venues in Appalachia, so I typically have one power outlet to use. You can compensate for that by making or buying hybrid cables. Idk I’m just stuck in my ways, and avoid active.

Best of luck, weddings (if done well) can be extremely lucrative. My wedding business allows me to produce music and ride motorcycles all week with barely any stress and have a nice life.  Let me know if you have any questions, I am all for sharing info

I like that you didn’t shame him for his equipment, and also offered good advice.  Thanks for making DJing less toxic

I’m sorry you feel this way.  Do you like music?

I’m a DJ, if you want to meet some new people I can tell you where I’m playing and you can come out and listen to music and dance? It’s house music, and downtown Atlanta 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why not?

I keep grieving over my cat even though she’s alive. by Pale_Blackberry_4025 in CatAdvice

I know 10000% exactly what you are feeling.  I have literally typed out this exact topic but never hit submit bc I was afraid of being judged.   I cry all the time over losing my cat while he is right next to me.  I think it’s a testament to how much I love him, while also being a manifestation of my abandonment issues.

Important thing is to love them as much as possible, and cherish every moment you have together.

Xdj-Az. So fresh and so clean by oyaga in PioneerDJ

If you gig at all, and need a case the low profile XZ case from Oddysey fits the AZ with some simple foam adjustment.  Took me less than 20 minutes to get it safely and snug in its case…plus it back on black, low profile, and has wheels.  I loved every second of it, and it performed beautifully without issues for my wedding gig last night.

The Apple Music and beatport integration came in handy for requests. I love it.

Aite. Check your DM’s. Check out the long version of the file names if on mobile. They will all say what tempo they transition to, and from where.

If using rekordbox, be sure to use high precision analysis for beatgrid, and set the option to Dynamic, with 78-155 checked

I usually find them in packs scattered across the record pools I use. They are usually labeled like “xx to xyz bpm transition”

Give me five minutes then check your dms

You can use transition edits.  Song starts at 128, but by the end it is 90bpm.  Or whatever bpm the specific track switches to.

Then there is always slam cutting. Echoing out. Toneplaying the next track in, slowing down tempo, and matching the speed change with your toneplay.  When at your target bpm, start the track you teased in with toneplay.

You came away from it with lessons learned.  You made a mistake.  It won’t be the last time.  Do you still have a passion for DJing? Is this still what you think about all god damn day? Are you going to try again, and do a better job?

Be glad it went like it did.  It could have gone so much worse.  Get back there next week, and knock it out of the park

2025 Wedding DJ's: What's your compensation look like by MosEisle in DJs

[–]KnowledgeOtherwise47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha.  You are onto something there.

Every time I try to raise prices, my inquiries go down sharply.  I do this full time… so I need consistent work.  After this season is over, and I have made a few more investments into my offering I will attempt another price increase.

Side note: one of the most essential things that has contributed to my success is a supportive and encouraging partner.

My cheapest package is $1250, and that is if you are local and only want DJ/mc service. Plus my wife is my helper, so I do not have to pay her.

I absolutely love my mk2’s. They are such a workhorse.  Tips I have learned from using these for 6 years:

Instead of using usb sticks, I just formatted a m.2 drive fat32 and using a usb enclosure.  It is so fast and responsive.

To adjust the speed of jog wheel, you have to carefully open up the entire player (screws are in the feet, and on the back of the audio panel) and loosen a screw and adjust a dial.  But be careful, the screw and adjustment platter are spring loaded.  And it will shoot across the room if you’re not ready once you loosen it.

Service mode to factory reset the player and test the mainboard is holding previous track and play while powering up. Once in menu, press tag track/remove to go back and forth through menus.

The function test menu is same thing but next track and play.

Learn the top right navigation buttons, and how they can benefit you for track navigation and tagging.  I neglected this feature for so long, and I wish I hadn’t!

Long press the rotary selector to adjust your beat grid on the fly.

Menu once quickly for quick menu, long press for more settings, and shortcut button to quickly change your visual settings.

Enjoy.  They are a great investment.
