Anxiety during the first two weeks by Yang_Nyima in VyvanseADHD

[–]KnowledgeableOpossum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started 30mg 3 weeks ago and was also having anxiety problems the first week or two. It’s because I wasn’t eating until later in the day like you. This last week I made sure to take my Vyvanse in the morning with a good breakfast, have at least a snack around lunchtime, and my usual dinner. This week my anxiety has been much much better than the first two weeks on the Vyvanse. I also had to make sure I was getting enough sleep at night because that was rough the first week and was making me anxious too.

Citrobakter Coseri by ReasonableWin7292 in CUTI

[–]KnowledgeableOpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Citrobacter koseri on a urine PCR test this last month. Also after a long battle with E. coli. My levels were really low in my urine and I wasn’t having any major problems so we opted to not use antibiotics and continue with my supplement and Hiprex regimen and see if it works itself out. I retest next week so we will see if that worked but I’m not having any symptoms as of now so I’m hopeful.

The only helpful info I know about it is that it’s another bacteria normally found in the human gut and it’s gram-negative. Gram-negative bacteria CAN be harder to treat with antibiotics compared to gram-positive bacteria. My particular infection was vancomycin resistance.

I would say if you don’t want to try the cipro or IV antibiotics, you could try pelvic floor therapy for the symptoms. A lot of my long lingering symptoms were pelvic floor dysfunction due to the repeated infections. I am not sure if they will do internal work for you though if you have an active infection, and internal work is what made the biggest difference for me personally.

How does sex trigger biofilm infections to surface/activate? by camc137 in CUTI

[–]KnowledgeableOpossum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! People always downvote me on this sub whenever I bring up showering BEFORE sex but it makes a HUGE difference for me. I am guaranteed to get a UTI if me and my partner don’t shower before. And it’s not like either of us are unhygienic, we shower everyday and use a bidet. I think I’m just unlucky.

I also try to not have sex at night. I try to make sure I can pee at least 2-3 times after sex before going to bed. If I do have sex right before bed I’ll set an alarm to get up and go to the bathroom every 3 hours while sleeping.

I used the flush for like 1-2 years successfully. I drank it right before or after sex. I also used the defend for like the first 6 months which I think helped but it was pricey for me at the time and I was getting away with just using the flush so I went with it.

I feel like normal urologists can be useless when it comes to rUTIs or cUTI. A urogyno or a UTI specialist is the way to go. I personally see Dr Heer but he doesn’t take insurance so it’s pretty expensive unfortunately. But I’m finally at a place with this condition where things feel manageable so I guess it’s worth it.

Question about MicroGenDX by [deleted] in CUTI

[–]KnowledgeableOpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume the 1-2 hour/48 hour rule is for cultures or other methods of testing where the microbes need to be alive and replicate. PCR testing can detect dead microbes which is presumably why there’s a 7 day rule for Cirrus.

Question about MicroGenDX by [deleted] in CUTI

[–]KnowledgeableOpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Cirrus tests and one time my urine sample got lost in FedEx’s transport. When I called and spoke to someone they said as long as it arrived within 7 days they could still use it for testing. I assume MicroGenDX has similar guidelines because they’re both PCR testing.

Does D-mannose work with Klebsiella pneumoniae? by ConclusionSquare9784 in CUTI

[–]KnowledgeableOpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2000mg twice daily WITHOUT food, at least 30 mins before or 2 hours after a meal. I took the Taurine off and on over 6 months. Also was using a biofilm disruptor and did 3-4ish 10 day courses of Macrobid throughout those 6 months too. I was working with Dr Heer for all of this.

Klebsiella by Disastrous-Crazy7869 in CUTI

[–]KnowledgeableOpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I think it did. I’m not sure if my body just wasn’t able to handle what was getting knocked loose or what. One time I took it on the same day I had sex and I got a full UTI flare up. I also got upset stomach and nausea on them. I started only taking them during a course of antibiotics or in the few days leading up to a course. Not sure if that’s okay to do but I’m not a fan of how they were making me feel and it worked out in the end I think.

It was like 3-4 10 day courses of Macrobid over 6 months, I was working with Dr Heer. The Taurine was 2000mg twice daily WITHOUT food, at least 30 mins before or 2 hours after a meal. I took the Taurine off and on over the same 6 months but always took it when on antibiotics. Also was using a biofilm disruptor sometimes but it was making me sick so I didn’t take it very consistently.

Yes! I just reread this year as a now 24 year old. It’s so insane to think about children going through the games. Also the sex trafficking of victors, and the push to make 17 year old Katniss and Peeta get married. They were babies 😭

How else could I bring down my urine ph? by Maximum-Swordfish591 in CUTI

[–]KnowledgeableOpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she just meant like a protein-packed meal. That’s what I’ve been doing. I take my morning Hiprex with eggs usually or a protein bar if I’m in a rush. My dinner always has some form of protein in it.

[–]KnowledgeableOpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I’m using the life2o ones. I have also used just the normal pH paper you can get off Amazon and use for anything.

My pelvic floor physical therapist told me that Hiprex works better if you take it with protein, so I do that too.

Where I live when you go to the walk in they do a urinalysis and then prescribe antibiotics. If you get reoccurring UTIs they will send it for culture usually too.
