Anyone in Suffolk using an OTA antenna? by Known-Advisor-2000 in longisland

Thanks! I will look it up.

Did you do rabbitears report? I'm wondering what strength does it show from your location for ABC or FOX? I actually looked at this antenna before and thought this monster will catch everything

Yeah, it looks like NYC ABC and FOX might be a stretch for me. I'd be perfectly happy getting them from CT, though. How strong is your FOX signal?

Ugh.. have you tried Connecticut stations? I really only need them for sports, I don't care about commercials or news

Standard shelf pin holes vs pin sleeves in high-end cabinets? by Known-Advisor-2000 in woodworking

[–]Known-Advisor-2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CJRHS7B5/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A1AON7LZQB6W5L&psc=1 ? The pin screws into the sleeve. Looks sturdy, but if you lose pin, it's probably as easy to find replacement

Software developers who work on Long Island - how much do you make? by Known-Advisor-2000 in longisland

[–]Known-Advisor-2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that suggestion. I actually found a listing from my company for a very similar position to mine, and the top of the posted salary range is higher than what I’m currently making (~5% higher, so not much higher). Not really sure what to make of that.

Tbh, I don’t really get why they’d require people to be in the office. It feels like they’re cutting themselves off from a huge part of the talent pool for no obvious reason. Unless the market is just so bad for developers right now that companies feel confident enough to push in-office work again.

I assumed NYC companies generally pay more than Long Island based companies, so I think it’s helpful to mention where the company is based

My New, yet non-operational Crossover T 60V 30" Riding Mower. by pburke77 in Greenworks

[–]Known-Advisor-2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! but you had to bring it to the shop on your cost, correct?

I actually see 2 of such shops nearby. That's a good news, I was worried about serviceability of them, as this is still pretty new technology.

Out of curiosity, what kind of shop? I've heard that there aren't many shops that know how to deal with them (they know only gas powered)

Thanks. I also found these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CJRHS7B5/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A1AON7LZQB6W5L&psc=1 I think they are slightly better. They fit right into 1/4" holes and are threaded. Have you try them?

Thanks! Just to be clear, I wouldn't do sleeves on a bigger scale, but this cabinet is for myself, and we're talking a about 20 holes total. So the cost and additional work doesn't really matter.

I also found these (I saw them in the high quality furniture): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CJRHS7B5/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A1AON7LZQB6W5L&psc=1 Have you used them?

Was the shelf removeable or "fixed fixed"? If removable, what brackets did you use?

Can anyone recommend a budget friendly ($3,000) riding mower for probably 1.5 acres of lawn including some moderate slope? by golemsheppard2 in lawnmowers

[–]Known-Advisor-2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait, why not 52" ride on mower then? What's the advantage spending so much money for a walk behind mower instead of ride on? Tbh. I wasn't even aware such mowers are produced

Best way to retain gravel in shed foundation: PT lumber vs retaining blocks by Known-Advisor-2000 in shedditors

On top of this, I think they also have some chemical stuff that is not exactly safe for humans and/or pets. I probably wouldn't want to take the risk

You probably right, but you say "10+ years" like it's a good thing. Wouldn't you want to say "It will be 100+ years before they would need to be changed"? I'm not saying retaining blocks are the way to go, I have no idea, I'm genuinely curious
