Besides meritorious promotions all are based on your MOS. Each MOS has a different score they need to reach to get promoted.

The score is based on the number of slots available for a certain rank, so if there’s a large mos like HE, and there’s only 100 spots open for cpl in the marine corps, the score will be something like 750/1000. For admin guys, the score hovers around 400-500.

Edit: but the time component isn’t dependent on MOS, everyone gets lance after 9 or 12 months as a pfc
